Here in my country, they spent days advertising a 'big fight.' And when the scene finally aired, yes it was horrible but the response even worse. The filming had ended months ago and one of such assholes woke up to find a stream death threats and online abuse until she broke down and quit social media. Others embrace it. There's this one guy who loved being the asshole so much he stretches out his 10 minutes of fame on TV. Still at it now though by trying to become a Youtube influencer.
Nonetheless the point is that kind of material would be left in by the TV editors. They know it is good for mass entertainment, or at least it'll get people talking about their show. Publicity and ratings in spite of all else. I believe there's even been a few lawsuits where Reality TV contestants tried to sue the production company for defamation.
