>Decided to read this because of a relative of mine liking it for years and DBD making me think about it again.
>World building makes no sense at all how Ghouls haven't already eradicated humanity hundreds if not thousands of years ago based on how the overwhelming majority of them only view humans as meat and how Quinques are a very recent invention.
>Only Kaneki had a minor interaction with Touka arguing about how killing humans is wrong and otherwise not a single Ghoul seems to understand the difference between an ant or a fish and someone who can literally argue against you in terms of morality.
>Most of the Ghouls who abstain from killing humans just want to live in tandem with humans selfishly rather than a moral imperative not to kill them.
>Ghouls in modern times don't seem to have even attempted to make contact with sympathizers and find a way to synthesize meat so they don't need to keep murdering and fighting for food or set up some sort of organ donor program but for their non-organs.
>Ignoring all that, it's been fine for like 60 chapters.
>Get to the Jason part and Kaneki just gets tortured for like a week straight.
>Completely snaps and does an entire 180 of his personality and beliefs, willing to murder whoever he wants for whatever he can justify.
>Suddenly on par with some of the strongest, deadliest Ghouls in the series out of nowhere.
>They constantly keep featuring the Doves in a way where we're supposed to be rooting for them yet they also write them as complete nutjobs outside of Amon and the two beetle dudes until the daughter appears.
>Kaneki continues to go insane and lose sight of his goals every single time he appears while fixating on Kanou.
This is driving me nuts as a series I gotta admit. How did it get so popular? The designs? It was fairly solid until he got captured by Jason and then it went straight into the toilet after that.
