It's probably because Skull Knight exists in both planes. Sort of similar to the Elves. IIRC, Elves also exist in the both planes too right? Something like that, dealing with Od and shit. I can't remember anything.

Ya know, as much fun as it is to harp on Kubo, the guy is a good artist. Leave the story(and backgrounds) to Miura and let Kubo help with the character art. Might actually keep Berserk on a somewhat steady release schedule.
