I've been attending Brisnova for ages and it's becoming less and less fun every time. Now I mostly just use it to meet up with friends that I don't see very often.

I find Supanova in general to be really boring now. There's not even any anime stuff these days to keep me even slightly interested. Instead of Japanese voice actors, they just get the same few Roosterteeth people instead.

Then there's the overselling of tickets. Someone should call whatever is our equivalent to a fire marshal when Supanova is on because the place gets so overcrowded I swear it's a serious fire and safety hazard. It was more akin to a mosh pit than a convention. Some idiot kid is going to bring a flashbang or something one year and start a fatal stampede.

Yo, supernova is literally just an annual western nerd-culture popup market.
It's kind of disgusting how little effort they put in, and worse still, the same issues prevalent with Supernova, can also be found with Comicon, or at least, from what I can tell with my experience with both in Adelaide.

If you want pictures with cosplayers, don't buy a ticket, just wait out the front.
If you want merch, online shopping does still exist, it is still 2015.

Last time I enjoyed a Supanova was when they had Bleach's voice actor and director. Wasn't a fan of Bleach, but the Q&A panel was interesting. It was just nice to have something for the anime fans direct from Japan and not just Vic Mangina for the 100th time.

And yeah, I don't buy anything there except maybe a t-shirt if it's good quality. Kinda sucks overall though because I only really go because of friends now and they're obsessed with shopping and I have nothing to do at the con between that. Also, going into the vendor hall is just shit in general. Last Goldnova left me with bruises and an open wound.

I've shot with both of them and I think Beethy's photos are way more creative but even I don't think Kris would be upset comparing himself to Beethy.

Beethy was fine to shoot with, funny and didn't make me uncomfortable - kris it seemed like I was doing something wrong, very awkward he seemed almost upset with the photos (similar to my experience with volk too)

Well, this probably belongs in the help thread, but it beats normal austhread drivel so probably start with a character/costume you like with a simple design, so it's not overwhelming to sew or make/acquire props for, that's also distinctive, so you don't look like someone in civvies. If you got no friends to do it with, go by yourself and make some friends there. If you're not comfortable with that (ie. too nervous/in a rush to move on to something else), there's a solid chance you can suss them out on FB and add them there if they don't mind then talk to them there!

Not really, considering 99% of us aren't doing this to make a living.

We aren't models trying to get amazing photos for our portfolios so we can keep booking work... We are doing this for fun not to making a living off.....$300 is pretty expensive considering how many other decent photographers there are that do this for much cheaper or for free

I don't understand the need for those extra lines connecting to the eyebrows, I think it's unecessary and just makes it worse.

I've shot with all of these people and more. Just going off who's pleasant to shoot with.
Volk and Kris are the most nasty in particular. They made me feel very uncomfortable. I wanted to get out of there fast.
Lorenzo is on that list because of his alleged history.
Everyone on the good list has been fun to shoot with. They made me feel good. Had to wait a while on Beethy's photos but that's my only complaint. Steamkittens turnaround time is very fast. The rest normal.

One thing I don't get, is how much 'post-' needs to be done with most cosplay photographers. I see guys carrying around flash umbrellas, reflectors, radio flashes, all kinds of gear to make the light work, and then still spend weeks in photoshop after the con.

Coming from a film background, it puzzles me that so much setup can go into the shot, and still have to spend so much time editing a single picture.

I would think they have to edit 100's of pics after a con, and it's possible they have a life, and they are doing it for free.
2 weeks is not too bad for the whole con that might have been 2 or 3 days of shooting.

However that's only in public I saw them, I font know what went on behind closed doors but from my experiences with Lorenzo I refuse to believe he treated her the horrid the way she claims he did.

Anyway moral of the story, unless you are involved in the relationship personally then you'll never know exactly what happened, so mind your own damn business and stop spread rrumors unless you have some photographic or other form of tangible evidence to back them up.
