If Monty didn't croak how different do you think the series would be now? Would it be better? Worse? It's weird to think that most of the show he hasn't been alive for. It's more Miles & Kerry's show now.

The story stays more or less the same since they had the rough draft when he was around, but overall much better presentation, animation and battle choreography, better use of all characters abilities as well.

Extremely different. Don't forget the maidens were a later addition/ and his idea over the guardian stuff. The show might have changed in several directions and likely the power levels would have been way higher. Plus they wouldn't have lost the animator who put the show on the map. I don't even know if Oscar would exist.

Hard to say. With Monty Jaune would have probably gotten a cool fight scene by now at least. If you go by Shane's letter, him causing Pyrrha's death was supposed to be the trigger to turn into a badass.

I really doubt it. Despite not having appeared in the Ever after yet, much of this volume seems to center around Neo. She's prominent in the OP. She may be more akin to Alyx than RWBY. She has an ongoing story-arc. It feels this is building her up for something, and that might be a continuing role as a "good guy"

However, it's also possible the show decides to have Neo keep pushing in her revenge towards Ruby and have it lead to her downfall.

The problem is we kind of had that arc already. More than once. Adam keeps pushing in his Blake boner, and it gets him killed. Ironwood keeps pushing in his paranoia and abandoning Mantle and it gets him killed. Rehashing the whole 'Bad keeps doubling down and it gets him killed' is kind of old by now.

Unironically, true. Jaunice is not magically worse than anything else in Vol 1-2 and even stuff in latter volumes. It's just something that triggered a chunk of the fandom so they have convinced themselves it's somehow a huge dip in the writing.

The show would be less coherent but way cooler. It's actually possible the Maidens wouldn't be a thing if Monty hadn't died. Since it was something Monty came up between Vol 2 and 3, it was something Miles and Kerry weren't sold on completely, but then Monty died and they were, "Yeah, we're doing this now."

True. The Jaundice episodes are the only bad ones Monty made while he was alive. I would tell to newcomers to skip those two episodes and Weiss's, if they aren't feeling comfortable watching V1.
