Does it tickle your fancy how everything is actually really depressing but haha MC managed to find a place to poop in private? What about an entire page dedicated to watching a random Beaver watch his family(kid included) get killed by a random falling tree? Hilarious right? The sweet moments are all the more sweet because of all the grittiness but Katie could've made it a LOT more fun. The backstories like 17's are sad enough along with the trauma they suffered, there's no need for all the added bleakness. That's why there's an argument to be made if Nick was right or wrong to drop the pilot.
So personally CC > CW. I only really read for 17.
