That may have just been something N was told, and he believed it becaude he was naive. We know what happens when Worker Drones with the Solver active within them don't consume enough material and keep uiltilising the Solver - the Solver overtakes them and makes them go feral in order to collect the material it needs like what happened to Uzi in Ep 4.
Disassembly drones may not "die" if they starve, it may be something much worse. I have a feeling, this season, N is going to refuse to eat any more drones and something related to the Solver is going to happen to him.
