>>133737570Okay, let me phrase it again, so that anyone should be able to understand.
Original statement:
>A+B=C. If believe is itself a force which has a physical effect on the world, then that's the end of that. This anon asserted that any observable effect of the ether is the result of laws of the ether, whether they be known or unknown by court scientists and no matter how unintuitive these laws might seem.
Then another anon asserted that A+B=/=C, because it depends on factors outside of "A" and "B" , like time and space. A ridiculous statement that confused me, so I responded by saying that time (and space) are always factors, neglecting to ask why he would bring up time and space as if they for some reason were not part of a+b=c. This could have likely ended the whole discussion right there.
Instead, anon responded with
>dude pi was totally not the same yesterday okconflating time and pi as well as revealing that anon for some reason assumed that we were talking about a MATHEMATICAL calculation that exists purely in your imagination and is therefore only dependent on time if you want it to be, instead of observable physics, which is "pretty much always" dependent on time and space, so I wanted to clear that up by saying that maths and physics are fundamentally very different.
Then I got accused of changing the subject and I have since been trying and failing to explain that pi not changing from one day to the other has absolutely no bearing on how physics works and thereby also has no bearing at all on whether the ether in this fictional webcomic is a scientific subject or not.
