You have at least 3 really solid characters (Woody, Winnie, Chilly) to work with and those secondary characters can easily be adjusted to be great in anything as well. And you're telling me people at Universal have zero idea what to do? And you have an ensemble cast! As long as Woody is a sarcastic smartass you can do endless scenarios with the character and I could come up with dozens of scenarios for a show premise.
Look at what the competition has done. Mickey had a very solid 10 year short run where he was still very safe and corporate because the writing is so good. You had Donald in two radically different adventure shows. You had Bugs in a toned-down, mature sitcom setting and it worked so great it's still heavily viewed to this day. You had Oswald, who not a decade ago was a Woody very minor secondary character, get used in mediocre games but because they gave him some depth, trauma and funny lines he's now a big merch seller and a bigger character then Woody.
What has Woody done in those 2 decades? Noting besides the shitty live action film 10 years past when they were popular and even shittier YouTube shorts.
You can do anything. Give him a new TLTS type approach show. Give him a surrealist action/adventure show. Give him a TV-14 show that hits where other IPs aren't going. Give him some high quality shorts before Illumination films.
Just fucking do SOMETHING. Because he used to be the third biggest cartoon IP and now he's not even in the parks and being replaced with Shrek. You're all being conservative in approach but that's leading to him being in nothing for 2 decades and dwindling so hard in popularity soon no one will know he exists.
