Snowflakes fall over the entirely peaceful streets of Jump City. Titans Tower looms grander than any decoration, lit from base to tip in a sparkling pattern programmed by a man similarly illuminated. His efforts have ensured that no child, no matter how destitute, will be without a Christmas tree this year.
"What? Again?!" Exclaims a certain green shapeshifter, upon opening the fourth gift-wrapped squeaky toy of the night. "How many of these am I gonna get?!"
"You're easy to buy for." Responds a shadowy-haired witch in grey pajamas. "Be grateful. I get all the weird stuff."
And so it was, for hours on end, that the heroes of Jump City would open their gifts. Hundreds of them, sent by the citizens, and laid in a gigantic, colorful pile. Each had been thoughtfully given, and each would be personally received. A young alien princess, swelling with holiday joy, flies through the presents like a giggling child flinging himself upon a pile of leaves.
"Don't think I've had a better Christmas..." Drones a sleepy voice not before heard.
This voice is closer than the rest. It comes from your immediate left, below the head of voluminous pink hair comfortably resting against your shoulder. Seeing this Titan so openly exhausted is rare and adorable in equal measure. You can't blame her – It's a very comfortable couch.
"Hey, check this one out!"
A ribboned package lands on your lap. Despite being the newest and least popular member of the team, some appreciative citizen decided to send you a gift. It's lovely. The ribbon falls, the paper is torn away, and the lid is lifted off.
Miles away, the child who sent it is playing in the snow, his movements restricted by a padded winter coat. He punches the air, dodges to his side, and pretends to teleport a distance away, emulating the abilities of the coolest superhero he's ever heard of.
A: Merry Christmas!
