I have been thinking a bit about "1001 nights" kind of settings (possibly with a steampunk/retrofuturistic spin on them) but I feel it might work better to discuss it on a new thread.

After all, the 1001 nights harem settings also allowed for the concubines/slaves to have a comfortable room where they could spend their free time (though it was a big room they had to share as opposed to each of them having some private room for themselves)
