Most relevant books for proper training:
>Louie Simmons Westside Barbell Book of Methods, Bench Press Manual, and Book of Squat and Deadlift. One of the best authors for training fundamentals, but program guidelines are quite loose.
>Josh Bryant Jailhouse Strong, JHS 8x8 Offseason Powerlifting Program, and JHS Successful Mindset Manual. Great author for training fundamentals. However, there is no free peaking program.
>Cory Swede Burns 5th Set, and 5th Set Evolutions. Most up to date training program templates, only the bench peak is outdated.
>Jim Wendler 5/3/1 for Powerlifting, 5/3/1 Forever. 5/3/1 for PL is a great beginner book, and if you like it, Forever can be used to adapt it for longer term progress.
Bryant's and Burns's books are well written, but Wendler is a retard and Louie cannot into English. All of the books are in the pastebin in Bobbergs's drive.
Louie is greater than all:

Not bad for an unglycogenated workout, felt the fail in my delts, here's the fail. Didn't recognize the heave on 360 until i watched the footage, would've gone for 380 instead if i saw it. Not sure if i should use these partial larsens, or if i should use the tng style spoto bench, both would work i think. Better control and pec work with spoto, better delt and trap work with larsen. Leaning towards larsen right now cuz my arch is getting pretty big.

Hey bros I'm a new lifter and I'm having trouble with my squat. I was told I could get some help in here if I have form issues. Two problems: 1. When bracing properly (taking a deep breath & pushing against my abs for the duration of my rep), I have to take a 10+ second pause in between reps to catch my breath so that I can take another deep breath to brace again. Longer as I progress through my set. The problem seems to compound as I don't fully recover each time. If I don't take the break and try to hold a deep-ish breath a few seconds after coming up, I end up breathing out and in at the bottom of the rep due to lack of oxygen which ruins my brace and totally messes up my form to a dangerous degree. The bracing definitely helps, the squat feels better and easier when bracing this way, but taking such a long pause tires me out. Is this normal or should I do something differently? 2. I don't know if I'm taking too long to complete a set (due to problem #1) but by the end, I have pins and needles in my arms (mostly my forearms I think). I'm doing 5 reps for reference. Is that a sign I'm not holding the bar in the right way? Videos I watch tell me to have my hands as close to the middle of the bar as possible to help with bracing and form. The numbness sets in quicker if I have them as close as I can comfortably (excluding the numbness) go but even if I have my arms out toward the ends of the bar it still happens. I'm 6ft so my arms are quite long. It might also be that I have bad circulation or something. It usually affects my last rep. It's just another thing to take my focus away from the other parts of the exercise. Both of these problems suggest to me that I could start doing cardio to help with my lung function and my circulation. I live a very sedentary lifestyle other than trying to lift 3 or 4 days a week. I don't know if there's something else that could help though so I figured I'd ask first. Any advice?

>>65751275 but the problems I have aren't really visible
the tl;dr is that when squatting if I take a deep breath and brace properly I have to take a long pause between reps to catch my breath. I also get pins and needles in my arms toward the end of my sets.
I want to know if there was something I could do about the lack of oxygen situation and if the numbness was a sign I'm holding the bar in the wrong way or just poor circulation.
My idea was that I could do cardio to improve lung function and circulation because I live a sedentary lifestyle. I want to know if somebody here thinks there could be other things I could do that might help
It's a long tl;dr but it's two separate issues I'm asking about.

Okay guys i come crawling back for help. I took one entire week(6 days) off of training entirely. this took more willpower than anything in my entire life. I felt pretty okay at the end(no pain, can walk). so I tried pulling 315(conventional cause I figured it wouldnt fuck with my adductors) and I completely fucked my shit up again, adductor and knee pain not as bad as before but I still had to kneel. How do I fix this, is it just a matter of not training for 2 weeks instead of 1? 315 is literally within 60% of my max so wtf is gong on. squats went okay though because I did atg highbar pause squats with narrow stance. For the love of god I just want to go back to training more than anything. I was thinking about running smolov jr for bench and just cutting deadlifts and only highbar squatting once a week(even though my wrist is still broken, I can still press maximally with only minor pain). I think if i take a full 2 weeks off I would go crazy. tldr took week off, came back feeling okay and got hurt again at 60 percent, how to fix.

>>65751065 SOME cardio (like a brisk walk) will probably help your cardiovascular system supply you with oxygen, yes. Also, with a weight that isn't BRUTALLY hard (but still mildly stressful), practice exhaling at the top and quickly taking another deep breath. Even if only for a set of three or something, just to get more used to not needing to huff and puff for several seconds at the top of EVERY rep (though even good and conditioned lifters may start to do that if they're doing something wacky like a set of 10+, so don't sweat it TOO much if you end up having to breath more for a final rep).
As for your arms feeling tingly, you're probably wedging them under the bar in some way that is too much. Video (from front or back "quarter angle" will probably be fine for this) is necessary to give more detailed suggestions.

You could take some weight off the bar and use strict rest times. Start with 30-60 second rests and gradually increase the times as needed. Obviously it should be very easy initially
As for the pin and needles feeling, you might be losing back tightness and the bar ends up compressing some nerves. It happens with long sets but it should get better as you gain more mass and get better at maintaining tightness

>>65753640 >Read practical programming At the beginning of the TM method chapter there's a disclaimer about full recovery being crucial to success, and cutting isn't exactly being entirely focused on recovery
You shouldn't be doing 5RM six weeks in, and there aren't any volume deadlifts in the program(i seriously hope you haven't been doing 5x5 deadlifts)

>>65753803 I'm doing stiff legged deadlifts 3x5 because power cleans/snatches aren't really doing it for me and they are literally suggested in the book. So far I've just been playing with the VOL deadlifts as you see from previous pic.
As for 5 RM I'm just doing it from the book and pic rel. My best sets in SS were 3x5 125kg squats, 3x5 72.5kg bench? and 1x5 142/5? diddly

I'll see about 180kg diddly, been feeling great, maybe another 10kg before I stop 5RMs.

>>65753916 I've slowly been learning the oly lifts, but my mobility is lacking, especially for snatch and overhead squats. I call them the fun lifts, cause well, they are fun as fuck (I like the jerk the most so far)
I've spent multiple months trying them during SS, first one really badly. WEBM rel is my PC from 5 months ago compared to a few weeks ago.
Also getting a "weightlifting" coach for an hour this sat for free, so gonna have an opportunity to work some stuff with him

>>65754093 I have dogshit mobility; it's mostly irrelevant for the power clean. If you can deadlift, you can power clean.
Second clean in the webm is much better; pull the weight back with your lats into yourself and push your knees back (like you would in a halting deadlift). You need to stay over the bar (which means keep your shoulders in front).

>>65754229 You are far too narrow. If you have bad shoulder mobility you need to go wide. Either way, with the snatch your overhead grip is determined by where your hip is. The bar should touch your hip crease when you're holding it--whatever grip that facilitates that is your snatch grip. (And hence what you should overhead squat with.)
I caution you against spending too much time on oly stuff. I know it's fun/cool, but it's a huge time-sink and you'll never be even remotely good unless you're furiously strong--despite what all these dumb coaches/lifters who think technique is all that matters say.
