Feel free to tell me to fuck off to /adv/ or wherever, I just figured this board would be best for having both direct experience in eCommerce and buying things online a lot.
On Saturday, I preordered a piece of tech directly from the manufacturer's online store. Today I received a package from the company which contained one of their products. At first I thought it was a "Thank you for preordering" gift, but it turns out the product is £90 - the product I preordered from them is £180. Sending a £90 free gift just doesn't sound right. Then again, I've heard from a friend that the company was very generous to him one time, but he did some work for them.
Does this sound like a mistake on their part? The order number for the 'gift' is one digit below my order number, but I'm not sure how easy a mistake that would be to make. Surely something would be flagged in the system that they were sending out a package that's still on preorder?
I've emailed and called the company, the latter simply taking my number and telling me they'd get back to me. I'm desperate to open up the 'gift' because it looks amazing, but I don't want to get used to it or get in trouble incase I have to return it.
Does this sound like a screw up on their part? Would it even be possible to screw up in that manner?
