So, it was time for new keyboard and to move on from the clutches of Logitech, clearly a company who doesn't appreciate self-repair and modding.
Over the past several days I delved into the world of mechanical keyboards, I've read reviews from tech sites, I've watched videos from all the seemingly popular keyboard enthusiasts on Youtube, I've looked at forum posts, I listened to typing tests, I'm talking full immersion.
Being on a budget, I settled on ordering a Keychron C2 (yes I need a 100%, I'm a boomer). "I'll just replace the caps with some PBT puddings and start with the Gateron Reds to see how it goes" I thought. But then it dawned on me, the mechkey community is the equivalent of Desktop Ricers or Car Mods, a community of fucking ADHD-addled college kids who probably own more than one pair of sneakers at any given time to match a "weekend fit".
Do I really want to be a part of this hobby filled with such detestable people? Fuck your lube, your switches, your caps and your stabs, I'm gonna go buy a Hyper-X Alloy Origins and call it a day.
