programmers are getting progressively dumber each generation in part due to technology making everything easier

original programmers had to invent everything
then the next generation had to read a book and the documentation and understand everything perfectly as well as memorize it to be able to code even a simple program
then the internet came you can just copy paste code from blogs and stack overflow and combine it, without even understanding most of it
now ChatGPT even combines it for you

imo what the internet did is worse than what ChatGPT is doing
but nothing changed if you wanna get good you have to follow the OG method of studying hard
always had and always will
