C/C++, you can do whatever you want with the computer... ASM I was interested in but it's like ASM for ARM chips, ASM for x86 chips, etc, which is dumb, and almost zero courses or documentation sources to learn it.

C/C++ you don't need to worry about learning a specific chip's architecture then going to another computer and your shit doesn't work.

The reason isn't really important, you're still with a language where your shit won't work on a new CPU. C you can add definitions at compile time that allows you to write your program and compile it for various platforms. This is really common in video game source code in particular (something like ifdef IS_PC, followed by a bunch of things that only apply when compiled for PC).

If I spend all that time writing a program, I want to have at least SOME versatility. I don't need a LOT, but at least some manner of implementation that allows for multi platform builds.

for me it's c++ with static allocation and a few simple template containers. My favorite and most used is a simple ring buffer template that's given a array buffer and size. At construction I pass a statically allocated array and size, just werks.

Here's the facts:
Linux is written in C.
All BSDs are written in C.
Windows is written in C.
SQLite is written in C.
PostgreSQL is written in C.
Oracle is written in C.
MySQL is written in C.
All serious software is written in C.
If you want to write apps and you don't know enough about data structures to care that Rust doesn't let you build most of them without unsafe, then you can use Rust.
But if performance, scale, and portability are what you need, then C is the only way.

Exactly. All bloatware that needs millions of lines of code is written in C (and sometimes C++). If you're a trillion dollar company that can afford to hire hundreds of thousands of people and can force your users to buy a new computer, C is a good choice. If you're an individual or a small group of people, C will make your job impossible.
