I have a somewhat similar issue as your first part. I keep being asked specifically by another dev to do something I do it in 15-20 minutes let him know and he never acknowledges it in teams, so then a day or week later I will run out of stuff to work on and ask him what he needs done and he always goes "did you ever finish xyz?" So I explain it's been done since the day he asked me to do it. to which he doesn't acknowledge the message in teams. rinse and repeat 3 to 5 times for each thing I am asked to do until he finally realizes it's done.

I quit my construction job at the start of this year and attended a coding bootcamp. I learned webdev stuff, so HTML, CSS, JS, React, etc. I recently completed the bootcamp and now I'm applying to jobs. Obviously, the market is not optimal for me right now.

I'm currently being offered a job from Revature, a consulting/recruiting firm (I also received a very similar offer from a different recruiting firm). They pay you min wage while they train you for 1-2 months and then place you with one of their client companies for $40-60k/year. In return for the job placement, you are obligated to work through them for 18 months, but if the company you are working with decides to hire you permanently/internally, you are essentially free from the obligation and will get a pay raise to match one of their regular employees. If you breach the contract and stop working for them before 18 months, you owe them a large amount of money, $30-40k. However, I've read that it's not really enforceable and many people find ways around that fee.

Anyway, I'm unemployed and I need a job. My living expenses are very low right now and I can afford a low-paying job for the next year or so. I want to break into tech somehow because I don't want to go back to manual labor and I want the work/life balance that comes with tech jobs. Even a low-paying tech job is better than my last job, so my standards are not very high. Is it worth taking a chance with Revature?

I've been working on a project with a legacy system for about a month now. The code is almost ready for the first pass. This is what I'm leaning towards. So many people online shit all over these companies because of the contract and low pay, and fair enough, but.... it's better than being unemployed right? Considering how competitive things are now it seems like a reasonable option. I made 30k last year doing construction so it seems like an obvious upgrade and it's not like there's a ton of better opportunities.

Correct, all of my CS experience is from the bootcamp. It gave me a good foundation for the basics of coding and I can pretty much teach myself now, so I feel competent for almost any entry-level role. Zero professional experience makes it hard to get a job- not impossible, but I would basically need to constantly send apps for the next few months just to *maybe* get a job when a company decides to take a chance on someone with zero experience (something that's obvs not happening very much now). A pajeet job seems like an almost-guaranteed way to get my foot in the door.

Client A has a due date of 3 weeks from now, and requires at most 1 week of work. Client B has a due date of 1 week from now, and also requires 1 week of work. This same manager decides that Client A is the most important thing in the fucking world and refuses to listen to the requirements and time to get Client B done, which wound up with me working through a weekend and still missing a deadline, and his dumb ass laughing about it weeks later saying "I'm not even sure why I was so anxious about getting client B done, you probably should have done A first after all lol". I fucking hate working here.

When I interviewed with a recruiting place, they literally had all of us in one zoom and just made breakout rooms. of the 15ish people there including myself I was the only 20 something year old white guy. There were a couple older white guys and even a 40 something year old indian lady. The rest were about my age but asian and indian. I feel like those jobs are literally built for people like you who don't have the full educational experience and coming from a different sector.

The guy I am dealing with is ruining everything. He does a bunch of coding but also is the only one making graphics for the website because he has "20 years" of photoshop experience. He only knows the super basic shit. But we are remote a bunch and he is always away on teams and never gets his shit in when the others ask for it. Constantly having them ask 10+ times for the same shit he can make in 10 seconds but it takes im a whole week. Barely codes anymore because I code so he just does graphics and spends a day on 1 or 2 graphics that look the exact same just different sizes. But because the manager has caught on how much he just does nothing at home we have to use a shitty project tracker thing now. And he can't be fired because he wrote the entire site and wrote it so poorly in shit ass php 5 that I've been there a year and barely understand what half of the shit does because he does it so counter intuitively. But now I have to deal with task trackers because he couldn't get his shit done in a timely manner. I really hope I get an offer from somewhere else soon because I can't take dealing with his retarded shit much longer. I can see why they've had like 5 other programmers come and go since he has started.

I did the contract thing with Revature in 2018 and there wasn't a single indian in my program. There were 2 asian dudes, 1 black guy, 1 white girl, 1 hispanic dude, and the rest were white guys. All but one of us were in our early 20's and had just graduated uni.

The one I interviewed with wasn't revature but some other similar one. The only thing I remember was it was 2 years required if you signed, 15 an hour doing online training for 3 months, then they assign you to a business and you make like 50k/year first 8 months then 55k/year the next 8 months then 60k/year the last 8. Can't remember the name of the company though because it was a year and a half ago

When I asked my first time they immediately gave me the raise which made me think I should've asked for more.
I'm QA Tester but I feel like I do a lot more than test. I manage their Jira, sync tickets across vendor ticketing systems, lead meetings, present demos, and I'm unofficially team lead for the other testers.
Idk what I'd ask for, but $32 is barely enough to live with so I'd least like to live more comfortably.

Sure.

It's basically like a 3-4 month long military bootcamp. They put us up in apartments near the company offices. I shared an apartment with 4 other dudes. 3 rooms so 2 of us had to share. Trainings were mon-fri, from 8ish-5. The training is a mix of them drilling you with essential concepts for your program and teaching you how to sell yourself when you step into the Interview. There were daily assignments and quizzes and every week we'd do 1-on-1 assessments with our program instructor where they'd mock interview you. There were a few individual major projects and one big final project that is meant to emulate a real-world scenario you'd encounter on the job. I think out of like 30 people who came on day one 5 left or were asked to leave amid the training. About 2/3rd's of my group was placed with a company immediately after training. It took about 1-2 weeks longer for me. I was placed with 4 other guys from my group with a one of the WITCHs. I was under contract for the whole 18 months. Never had any problems with it.

I went through and looked and the recruiting place I interviewed with was FDM group if you are at all curious. But going back through my emails to find the name of the place I saw so many rejections from last year and idk how I didn't blow my brains out. So many I went through multiple interviews with and proceeded to not get the job. real sad times

I'm actually getting 50% more than my previous place where I lost my will to live and got fired.
I actually only started to look in may of this year. Had 3 years of experience.
Looking back on it, I don't remember anything from my time being a neet. Somehow feels like those two years don't exist and im still back there.

I'm trying to help my younger cousin get into college. He's one of those kids that needs a push to help them get things moving. I've been doing the "at his own pace" type of management since it's really up to him to decide when he's ready. He just needed to do the accuplacer for the local community college but he didn't do that without me helping him along so I took it as him not being ready yet. I'm thinking of having him do something like IT and he's thinking of something like Business Administration. What would you guys pick for him? He doesn't have a clue so he thought Business Administration because he wants to try and start a business but it's a vague statement since he's young and he himself says he isn't really sure what to do and that's all he can think of. I was thinking of helping him go into IT since dealing with tickets would most likely be the type of work he'd want to get into if he wants to try and work remote/be able to move around with job security in mind. I don't see him as being the studious type, more of the Instagram photoshoot type of kid, so stuff like Computer Science would be out of the question due to him not having a goal that makes him want to give 100%, at this time at least.

When I say lazy it's because it stems from a lack of purpose. All of us are similar in that regard, so we must have inherited that idiosyncrasy. He's just an instagram type of lad but if there was a good trade alternative or at least a decent apprenticeship that he'd be interested in going into then I'd be fine with that myself. I only want to support him get what he wants within what I can do. I myself never went into debt since I just went to the local university with my financial aid package paying all but like 800 bucks per semester. He most likely wants to leave the state or at least go back with a degree since I know his brother wants to do exactly that because the state we're in is more to raise a family, and less in the "stimulus a young adult wants" department. That's why there's always such a massive brain drain problem here.

I've done an experiment once where I applied for a very traditional sysadmin position which is somewhat similar to my DevOps/SRE profile but still not a good fit for obvious reasons
during the interview I just talked basically nonsensical technobabble about networking that as always, was met with blind nodding by the recruiter
at the end she said she thinks I'll be a great fit and that she would call me back regarding a technical interview

I work at a small company and my boss and coworker have complained about a coworker of our for months and talked about firing him etc but nothing.
I'm thinking of getting drinks with my boss soon and saying
