>>33498741. Bismarck didn't want to punish the defeated countries harshly, since he knew that would lead to revanchism, Austria more or less just lost her pride and the control over the South German states, Denmark lost a small portion of land and since it was a dynastic struggle, the war wasn't an all-or-nothing affair, it wasn't too significant (also Austria was allied with Prussia on that one)
2. Denmark had no chance against the North German Confederation, they knew it.
3. Austria was turning into another "sick man of Europe", there were constant tensions in the multi-ethnic state (especially with the Hungarians) and had massive debts.
4. Russia was pissed at Austria not helping them during the Crimean war, and was threating them.
5. Italy was pissed at the French soldiers "protecting" the pope in Rome
6. The other European countries remained neutral, since Bismarck released a treaty proposal (from the French to the German Government) under which Wallonia would be annexed by France, this pretty much pissed everyone off at the start of the war.
7. France attacked Prussia. They were seen as the baddies.
