We wanted to let you know about an important development today on the A303 Stonehenge scheme.
We’re pleased the Secretary of State for Transport has just published what’s known as the Statement of Matters, which is a critical step forward in helping him look again at the A303 Stonehenge scheme consent. As you will know the Development Consent Order was quashed earlier this year following the judicial review.
This now gives National Highways a much clearer picture of the way forward. We’ll be working hard to provide the information the Secretary of State has requested, including the information about carbon and climate change.
We remain confident the scheme offers the best solution it can to solving the traffic problems along this notoriously congested section of the A303, and remove the sight and the sound of the traffic from the Stonehenge landscape and the World Heritage Site.
You can find the detail of the Statement on the Planning Inspectorate’s website.
We’d like to thank everyone who has continued to support the scheme for their ongoing commitment as we all work together through this next stage.
