Both carried genes for mostly dark eyes, and brown/black hair. Greeks seem to have genetic continuity with them due to the country's geography, and little to no admixture due to Romans not bringing over massive amounts of Italians to colonize and Turks and Greeks not intermarrying for religious regions. I don't get what your issue is. They're not saying they're the same, merely that there is genetic continuity.
