>>6639091Current list includes I-E + Uralic + Altaic + some Siberian ones + some other ones. The Altaic and Siberian ones are over 2,000 years old. Uralic is probably around 6,000 years old. The overall Uralic-Siberian ones probably go back to 8,000 years at most which is about as old as the dates for IE languages. I however, suspect that we will discover more connections with more languages that are currently not widely considered to be Eurasiatic (for example, some recent statistical-based proposals include Kartvelian and Dravidian).
As for the hypothetical Eurasiatic language- it is thought to have originated some 15,000 years ago (with Altaic, Inuit and Chukchi languages being an eastern branch; Kartvelian and Dravidian being a central and southern branch; and I-E + Uralic languages forming the northern and western branch). The only thing that these guys have in common (genetically) from a recent point of view is ANE admixture, so a Siberian homeland is possible.
