>>26008300The rampant demagoguery and rabble-rousing of "Operation Downfall would of costed us millions of lives" is completely irrelevant and misleading. These aren't facts, these aren't even "correct account(s)" because they quite simply never occurred. Not only are there almost innumerable amounts of evidence of the upper echelon of bureaucrats and military alike regretting the decision to nuke Japan but the sheer idea of literally ignoring all other alternatives and hopping to the most fanatically murderous option almost instantly is moronic.
Not to mention there was a lot of external variables at play which also led to them nuking Japan [See Kuznick, Japanese: Rethinking the Atomic Bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki]

Everyone is tired of this hum drum argument of America does nothing wrong and that you're the only shining beacon of light in the ever so vast darkness. Give it up.
