Air force fag here.
Lackland Air Force Base: Don't remember it too well. The bone in chicken was fucking delicious while the bone out chicken breast was so dry you couldn't even chew it. Ribs were mediocre. Was deeply shaken and disgusted to find out some people put gravy on their rice.
Keesler AFB: DFAC was the only thing about that base that wasn't shit beyond words. Good salad bar. Good chicken breast sandwiches.
Osan AB, first time: Utter fucking shit. Food was bad, DFAC was worse. Ceiling was caving in from mold and they didn't have enough seating for everyone since even NCOs lived in the towers next to the place and had to eat there. Issue was exacerbated by the fact that you could only take your food to go if you were working. My shop started a cult where we took something like 3-5 rice crispy treats a meal and paid them as a tithe to the cool NCO in the shop, literally had two entire desk drawer towers full of them.
Joint Base Elmendorf_Richardson: Fucking top tier. All the food was prepared well and had great variety, had a monthly changing stall outside the main lines with special options like traditional ramen, curry, cajun food, Korean, Puerto Rican etc. on a monthly basis. Off base contracting companies would fight for the bids to provide food to the base so we always got the best shit as a result. If you can believe it, some days the army's chow was even better.
Eielson: Pretty shit but don't remember it too well, only there for a month.
Osan again: Still dogshit.
Daegu AB: Pretty good, but the Korean options were better, which makes sense since it's a Korean base with just a tiny American enclave.
Misawa AB: Decent. No real complaints but nothing special either. My troops can eat at on-base restaurants like the burrito joint, bowling alley and the golf course on the government dime, which is cool. The JASDF actually has an extremely cheap ramen joint on base I'm an absolute fiend for.
