>>57214960>Enlighten me.The Celts are first mentioned in the works of Greek historian Herodotus when describing the people of the head waters of the Danube (north of the Alps).
Between then and 21st June 1792, the term 'Celt' was never used to describe the pre Roman inhabitants of Europe.
Then on 21st of June, 1792, a group of London bards performed an entirely bullshit, made up, ceremony, on Primrose hill in London, and declared they Celts and druids. This, of course, was bullshit.
The Romans called the people of the British Isles Britanni (not Celts), the people of France were Galli (chicken people, not Celts).
In short, the use of the word Celt dates from the seventeenth century, and a bunch of faggot actors.
The cultures and languages that you describe as Celtic were spread by contact, not invasion. People became what you call Celtic by adopting architectural styles, fashions and behaviour, they were not a distinct genetic/ethnic group.
The romantic notion people have of 'Celts' in wode, with druids playing harps etc is complete fantasy. The Scottish did not invade from Ireland until between the 4-6 century. They are newer residents to the English island than anyone from the Roman period.
As stated by an anon above, most of Europe was what you call Celtic.
