I much prefer weapons too. And I would add the Drive style of having some weapons being compatible with specific forms. I think equipping weapons, despite posing problems for choreographies, would save a lot of filming time than needing to equip a different armor for form changes.

I kinda have a bit of hope. I mean Zi-O and Revice did try to use them as much as they can, only to completely abandon them once they get final forms. Sure the upgrades still eclipse them and they seem to be the exception,but hopefully they become the rule. Still though even those forms are used like less than 5 times.

Looking at the Ride Chemy list, we have all Vehicle cards 1 through 10 accounted for. Unfortunately, there isn't a Vehicle/Artifact combo or a Vehicle/Dino combo. Same with the Job cards: no Job/Ghost or Job/Plant combos.

So either some class combinations don't work for story reasons, they're saving them for later upgrades, or Bandai didn't bother making all the classes interact.

Here's the general timeline of the rumors regarding Gotchard's third Rider:

The initial "leak" that kickstarted the rumor was that of an alleged Chinese toy listing that specified the name of the third Rider as the same as what the Chinese ended up naming Decade. The person who leaked this detail was treated with a degree skepticism as he'd gotten things wrong before. Still, it was an interesting leak so people sort of went along with it.
The next major leak was that the third Rider of Gotchard was a "Legend Rider" who wielded the powers of past heroes. This is the most prominent rumor regarding the subject and comes from multiple sources, with at least one of those sources being relatively reputable. The reason that the Decade rumor gained traction is due to how this particular leak actually appears to lend credence to the earlier one which listed Decade as the third Rider.
There was a third leak which specifically named Inoue Masahiro as the actor playing the third Rider, but this one seems the least reputable of all so no one's really paid it any mind. No other source has named the actor playing the Rider, nor have we even had any leaks regarding who the actors for Gotchard or the second Rider are, so this one's probably not a real leak.

There ARE some strange elements to the initial leak though, as for whatever reason this alleged Chinese toy listing mentions the name of the third Rider, but not the second. There have been absolutely no rumors whatsoever concerning the name of the second Rider. we know almost nothing about him other than what two of his toys might look like. All the rumors so far have been concerning the third Rider. Additionally, while the second leak has been strengthened by multiple sources, some more reputable than others, the initial leak that actually brings up Decade's name has not been corroborated by any other source.

There's no reason to believe this. Legally, "Blade" and "Blades" are completely separate entities. Separate trademarks. That single 's' means EVERYTHING. I know it doesn't seem like much to you, but there is literally entire international trademark and copyright laws that prevent "Masked/Kamen Rider Blade" and "Kamen Rider Blades" from being the same thing.

Maybe this is why they've been going so hard on the female riders. They knew they wanted to do fem!Decade so had to give her a bigger roster to transform into. Even then, a female rider anniversary season wasn't a deep enough concept to run for 50 episodes, so it would have to be a subplot in another show about trading cards.

Honestly, I think the jobbing was actually the least-egregious part of those specials. I think it's more that Decade was kinda just treated like shit for the whole thing. Everything about what happened to Decade throughout the two specials is a bit hard to watch now. A lot of it just felt kinda mean-spirited.

I don't really have an issue with how Complete 21 jobbed, or even that it looked silly. But I think they did kinda go out of their way to make him look like a total clown. The chestpiece was already pretty goddamn cheap-looking; you can easily tell they put it together in like a few hours. But they went out of their way to give him that stupid-cheap-ass cape with the cards glued onto it, just to make him look extra clown-ish. I never expected Decade's new form to look cool, but I do think they deliberately tried to make him look as shoddy as possible. Really though, the suit was just the cherry on top. Decade was a sad, pathetic clown from start to finish in those specials.

Something about Geats has been bugging me for a long time but I’ve recently put my finger on what it is. I know this will sound hyperbolic, but Geats might be the most creatively bankrupt season possibly since Wizard. Almost nothing about this season is original, every major plot point or character archetype has already been done in Kamen Rider and 9/10 times it was already done better.

Obviously all of Takahashi’s standard tropes are there, with evil businessmen, cosplay waifus (and evil versions of those waifus), Christmas deaths and a purple villain Rider who’s easily redeemed. Ace and Keiwa were hyped up as Reiwa Tendou and Kagami but their relationship also has shades of Emu and Hiiro, just with their roles reversed. The premise of a death game where the winner is granted a wish and involves time resets is ripped directly from Ryuki and the DGP itself recycles elements from Ex-Aid’s games.

Keiwa being an orphan living with his older sister who’s looking for a job is recycled from Kouta. Buffa is a Baron expy (complete with turning into plant monster) but without even attempting any kind of ideological dispute between him and Geats. The evil forest that births monsters, fruits of knowledge and the protagonist and heroine being granted godlike powers which give them light-colored hair and contacts are all blatant lifts from Gaim too.

Villains who are advanced alternate humans who get their powers from an enslaved godlike being is similar to the Ganma, along with the use of eastern religious imagery. Ace is a cocky, hyper-competent protagonist who has been preparing for years before the show starts and is solely motivated by protecting a family member, just like Tendou. The Dark Keiwa arc is a combination of Hiiro, Aruto and Daiji’s villain arcs. Even Neon’s Akari subplot is recycled from Poppy being created from Kuroto’s dead mother, only dragged out over a dozen episodes. TimeFire’s redemption then mirrors Kuroto’s.

Half of these wouldn’t be as bad if they didn’t straight up use imagery from the things they’re ripping off, or if Geats had more of a visual identity of it’s own.

I’ve seen Geats compared to early Heisei but in my mind it couldn’t be anything further. Those seasons all tried new things and experimented with the formula. I think my earlier comparison to Wizard is more appropriate. Beside both being the fourth seasons of their eras, they both represent the same kind of decadence – Kamen Rider by numbers, just doing what was done before without really adding anything new. The only difference is that Geats’ model seems to be successful so we probably won’t be getting any reinvention anytime soon.

Honestly, I'm okay with there not being any mixing. Look at how OOO, Build, and Saber handled that aspect with huge piles of collectables. All of them rarely utilized the mix-and-match mechanic and defaulted to "proper" combinations or in Saber's case the default single book or full color matches. Double is the only one that really handled it well and that's mostly because they only had three trinkets per side to work with.

The lack of mixing seems to be in the designs' favor this time around. They can go all in on fusing the two ideas instead of making them separate parts that look better together than with others. Not only the Drivers, the early run Magnum Buckles are fucked too, they sometimes trigger the shooting sound when you spin the barrel due to a design flaw that they fixed in later releases.

Fourze wasn't just a high school but a school club which requires a bunch of people and specific character types much of whom went wasted beacuse there's not enough time in the episodes to focus on them. Gotchard even if he's in a school as the main setting probably won't have that, just one or two friends as regular characters.

If it really was the last chance to appear he'd probably make it work because he said he does want to return to Aruto at some point in the future. While Takahashi definitely ripped off both his and other writers previous works, some of the stuff you mention is just inevitable coincidences that exist due to the length of the franchise. Keiwa being an orphan isn't really a ripoff, that's just a type of character who exists in most media.
That said I agree that a lot of it is badly handled, especially in this last arc.

It's amazing for the first chunk of episodes because Fujioka was doing everything himself including out of suit stunts and his own suit and biking scenes. Once he had his accident the quality went down some. Plus it's twice as long as most Rider shows so eventually it gets kind of spinning their wheels. Though it's still a pretty good ride if you can enjoy old shows like that

Also if that really is Mad Pirates, then I guess that answers how we'd get so many forms for Gotchard in the show. I know everyone's apprehensive about the CG, but I can see why they'd do it and Q1 forms are usually tossed aside pretty quickly anyway. I can see there being a few actual suits like Appare Skebo which will show up often and the others being one offs.

Assuming we get forms out of all of the cards and taking out 11 of them (the ten 10s and 1 special one) leaving us with 90 cards, we should have 45 forms for Gotchard in total with all of the card combos if I did the math right. So it would make sense that some of these be CGI forms if we're going to get to see them in the show.

I'd imagine any other Rider or movie Riders would use special cards that aren't part of the 101, like the Geats Oneness card and Decade's Legend Riders more than likely aren't part of that count. I think the numbered cards (1-9) will mainly be relegated to Gotchard while the 10s will primarily be for the rival or even movie/extra Riders or even upgrades like UFO.

Also, while I'm a bit disappointed that their entire presence in this film seems purely incidental, I'm not entirely dissatisfied with how it ended. Ren whole little plot where he was quietly biding his time, waiting for the right opportunity to nail Ryuga and bring Shinji back and Shinji just completely throttling Ryuga's ass. It was also neat to see Knight and Ouja's fight, even if Ouja's gut was kind of distracting at times.

Also, I can't help but appreciate how the Ryuki cast was just straight up stronger overall than the Revice and Geats Riders.

The suit looks a bit makeshift for my liking. It's obviously very professionally made but it has too many random shapes that look kind of stuck on instead of an integrated aesthetic. The colour is nice, and the arrow motif is cool although the latter is different in many cases - sometimes it's an arrow with tips pointing down, sometimes they're pointing to the side, sometimes they're just chevrons.

I think it's also because Drive was where they start using smaller packaging and come barebones while Gaim was the last that comes with his weapons, although Gaim could definitely use a Shinkocchou Seihou since his original is pretty skinny looking.

This is just packaging the same weapons with Type Speed this time, since they're not redoing the whole line.

Although Ghost and Ex-Aid came with their weapons by default so there's no major change there.

I watched the new Shin Kamen Rider yesterday.

I wonder how much of the Showa series have you seen because a lot of the editing and pacing seems straight out of those old shows, as a sort of tribute to that old way of filmmaking.
I do agree that there is zero depth to any of the characters and the main plot is stupid. The message is nice but nothing happening in the movie matters. But the set pieces with the riders fighting their enemies were all great and I didn’t hate any character.

I didn't know this story was an adaptation. I read the chapter (part 3 in the omnibus release), and yeah, it was a more interesting and entertaining story than what we got in the show. I like that the henchmen were designed to reflect the main antagonist's motif, too. This is something that I imagine would be pretty expensive to replicate on a live-action show given that they had a new antagonist every week

Early on each monster do have their own emblems that you can see in some base walls and henchmen uniforms (although the uniform emblem part only starts when they change to the luchador design). Then they drop that once the big recurring commanders arrive.
