Differences ranging something obvious and pretty harmless such as changes to a unicorn's magical aura, to things that are a bit more subtle, yet have a large impact, such as the sizes of their irises being reduced, leaving much more sclera visible. The writing was made to appeal to children, and it showed, yet it still had things only older audiences would understand or relate to, making it ideal viewing material for adults as well.
Frankly, you should know all of this already if you actually watched the show. Although S2 is great, the difference in feel even between S1 and S2, as a whole, is quite noticeable. The show takes on a different direction.
