>>37568197>I feel like the movie was way too short, and the pacing was completely throwing me off.>It should have been a 2-parter so it wouldn't feel so goddamned rushed. This is probably the single biggest thing. It felt like it should've been LotR length, not standard movie length. Something that's supposed to be an epic journey to change the fate of the world and meet a whole cast of characters like that shouldn't be the run-of-the-mill about hour and a half.
It was a good thing that they didn't have the McGuffins actually save the day, but at the same time what they did was painfully obvious from a mile out.
>>37568215And this. Sprout got fucked over hard, unfortunately. His song was completely wasted when it should've been the best.
Zipp acted like too much of an autist for me to like her, but I can see the appeal. Still don't like the weird horns.
They should've had a 3x3x3 Rubik's cube rather than the dancing shit.
Destroying the lighthouse was totally unnecessary and either shouldn't have been done at all or at least only done after a much greater buildup.
Campfire scene was the highlight of the movie and easily gave it a full point extra.
5/10 is a very reasonable score. It seems the general consensus of it most likely being painfully meh ended up being correct, but sort of in the radical centrist way. Overall it suffers from the same general MLP curse of wasted potential. I don't think there's any universe in which it was a masterpiece or really anything close, but it absolutely could've and should've been able to get people to begrudgingly give G5 a chance and set the stage for an improvement in the show. Unfortunately it's done neither of those things and instead at best left everyone still just as fearful for the fate of the show as before.
>make Sprout a caricature of MacArthur
>only use it for one scene
Worst thing they did with his character. Tied with his song for worst thing they did to him.
