Alright lads, I've been doing a big think.
So, it's no secret that Flutterrape's archival process is an absolute shambles, and by that I mean it effectively doesn't exist. No one knows where any stories are, requests for "Pinkie Pie fics" for instance are met with blank stares and shrugs since hardly anyone knows what's been written anymore, and there's been no concerted effort to catalogue them the same way, say, /bootleg/ has, or /satyr/.
We've got nearly 10 years of content 'organised' the same way a 7 year old boy's bedroom is 'organised'.
I've been toying with the idea for a month or so now of sitting my ass down and creating a catalogue by hand. That would mean reading through every story on the FR masterlist and indexing it accordingly.
A mammoth task to be sure, but I'm stuck at the first hurdle. How exactly should we organise the listings? Should we organise it strictly by pony? Should we have subdivisions for completed stories, incomplete stories, one-shots? Should each story have a synopsis?
Given that this would be a project for the benefit of our little corner of the internet, I'd like to get your thoughts and suggestions as to how we could lay this thing out before I get started. It's also probably going to take an indeterminate amount of time, so don't expect it to be done this time next week.
