One that jumped into my memory from when I was young was during a halloween party at a friend's house. I was pretty young, and there were lots of other kids there. At some point, all of the kids separated themselves upstairs while the parents stayed downstairs and drank.
One quirk I knew about this house is that there's a room which can be locked from the outside. To prove to the other spooklets that I was awesome, I told everyone to get into and lock the room, myself included. They would watch in awe and amazement at how I would be able to open the lock with nothing but a bobby pin.
Well, long story short I couldn't get the door open, and we stayed locked in there for about 30m until the parents came upstairs to discover why all the kid-based noises had stopped.
I was definitely known after that.
