>>36699716I fucking forgot about the singing apples, that wasn't even particularly cute or endearing whatsoever, frankly it was just kinda cringy and off putting. Especially as his half-hearted "conciliation" after he basically ruined Big Mac's wedding proposal with his infinitely retarded shenanigans. He was an outrageously awful friend, even by lowbrow sitcom standards he was still completely without any redeeming merits. The only thing he had going for him was being an otherworldly chaos god who could bully people into relationships with no agency or say over him unless they happened to be his retarded little waifu.
Genuinely, what the fuck was the problem writers were working out through him? He ended as a demonstrably worse person than he STARTED as, never even mind any of his post-reformation ambiguity. Now, he DOES turns ponies into stone. Now he doesn't even give the audience the catharsis of narrative acknowledgement when he carelessly abuses others around him, he just hurts people indiscriminately, not even for amusement but seemingly out of pathological habit. And we're meant to actually root for him instead of seeing him as a villain who needs to be stopped.
It's really heartbreaking. In a way, they did a lot of retroactive damage to him and a lot of characters who just went along for that ride. It's almost fitting how S9's promos had that "Game of Thrones" motif, since their last second tweest retardation similarly did almost everything possibly to salt the earth behind it so no fondness could grow if you reached the end.
