>>10853427Good point. The way I see things Hasbro is still run by people older than dirt, and it's a believe among many toy companies as well as networks that selling outside your target demographic isn't exactly kosher.
These type of companies get really antsy when older audiences like a show when they were trying to appeal to kids.
When this happens sometimes they get lucky and people buy the merchandise associated with it, other times it's just people stopping by to watch the show and they could care less about toys or clothes, or whatever.
Not to mention American companies have strict guidelines to what is acceptable. Many don't want to see little boys, or boys at all buying merchandise that is targeted at girls. They would rather have everything stay clear so they can market themselves more proficiently, as well as staying clear of any social stigmata.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they're going to try to go for that. I'm just they wouldn't mind if older men stopped playing with pony toys.
It's really surprising that they embraced it the way they did. It makes me wonder what they would have done if they hadn't had a television channel riding on their products. Who knows? It was a pretty fun ride while it lasted.
