>>12416298We don't know that it's separated, and the only reason for it not being references in the future, in case it won't be, is because the writers are lazy and don't care about continuity. Which would be in this one case a good thing, but since it's one of Hasbro's cheap moneygrab attempts, it has a much higher likelyhood of being references at some point.
I never said it would ruin the entire franchise, but it can hurt its performance, although reception wasn't negative enough to make any kind of serious impact. If, once we learn about the sales figures, it turns out that EG did horribly and cost Hasbro a ton of dosh, they'll make sure to subtract that from the MLP annual budget, although I doubt that this would affect the show itself.
If EG does well enough, the only thing that will happen is that we get more EG dolls and an EG series, which is a total and utter loss for the fans of FiM, the franchise, and humanity as a whole.
