Flaky QMs are flaky.

If say Ica or GC come back, I don't trust they'll run for more than two or three days before they leave again, and yet people are surprised when it happens.
This is a QM whose thread lasted more than a month with maybe 20-30 updates. Sure, he might come back with new conviction initially, but I seriously doubt it'll stick. He'll fall back to the same point, updating less and less, and eventually go into an indefinite hiatus again.
The way he's putting it off is indicative of this, in my opinion.

Just don't be surprised when he vanishes yet again.

Which QM do you have a recognizable bias towards? Like they aren't always the best, but you end up liking their stuff anyway?

I like Bath, because his environments and settings are really pretty and generally appear to have an admirable amount of effort put into them.

It seems I've been nominated to make a decision on Sharp's sexual orientation. T-Thanks for that by the way. After some thought, I've decided on the following, with the preface of a question.

Are both Twitch and Sharp active at once inside Sharp's mind, or does one simply take over for the other when needed, thinking about the other as a "separate" pony?

Now, Sharp is asexual. While she's; a cuddleslut, okay with a little platonic kissu from someone very close, and gets some help from her own left hoof on rare occasions, sex weirds (and kind of grosses) her out. She just has too low a drive to feel a need to experience it. In addition, the awkwardness of her first experience has put her off. Because of this combination, Sharp isn't comfortable getting herself in a similar position. Of course, things change with time, but for the foreseeable future, Sharp is asexual and has no plans otherwise.

Twitch however, leans towards straight. This means that she's mildly attracted to stallions, but since she only ever takes precedence over Sharp during jobs, her main focus is on completing her assignments. If flirting and possibly putting herself in lewd situations will put her at risk, she'll opt to find other solutions. If they're a valid option, she'll consider them, but not place them above all other options. Now before anyone has a kneejerk reaction, here is my rationale for thinking as such. Twitch represents the more wild side of Sharp, and that side of her is okay with letting loose a bit more. It's the repressed part of Sharp that's been suggested that she never acknowledged manifesting in another manner.

Is this a satisfactory solution to you all, or most of you? If not, why in particular?

As I understand it, Sharp is originally straight, but anxiety and a not-too-great experience made her libido go down to zero.
Twitch represents the, liberated, wilder side of her. She doesn't have the same limitations, the mental inhibitions. While she's still not too comfortable about the whole sex thing, she'll be okay with doing it, especially if it can help her in her mission.

It's difficult because of a few very glowing errors.

The biggest draw is the characters, but that's the only thing I'd say went well in the quest. RGS is probably the worst example of Humanity Fuck Yeah out of any quest to date.
It's about a war against where the ponies never even stood a chance.
The only times the ponies got any ground at all is when they resorted to awful things like dark magic or having more than one princess on the front lines. It was

Everything about the quest was just being kicked in the face over and over again. Characters outright refusing treatment to the point where they have a high chance of dying, spending months in cautious undercover only to get caught anyway after the fact, cargo planes, long stretches of boredom that make Heat look like a fast-paced quest, and probably most oft cited 'worst ending in CYOA history. '
The 'best ending,' as quoted by Lurker, was really shit for about everyone involved. Without spoilers, it was absolute garbage. The rationale behind it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of many.

Of course it was an older quest, and it was probably the first real character-driven quest on /mlp/, or at least the first to have real significance. In my opinion, many of the quests since then are far better.
Royal Guard Survival was significant and groundbreaking, just not great by today's standards.

Save yourself the pain, give it a pass.

At one point we had someone arguing that a magical blast should not be able to damage a helicopter. A combat trained unicorn using an arcane focus so powerful/dangerous that merely using it could kill the unicorn, and posters were arguing that it shouldnt damage the helicopter because MUH /K/ BONER. We were the ponies and posters were arguing against our ability to fight back with anything.

Literally nothing worked. The most successful operation we had as part of the equestrian army had a 40% causalty rate on a raid of a supply convoy. The operation only worked because the humans accidently bombed themselves in a quad event and we rolled a 1 in 10 chance to not be injured.

RGS only really had impact within the RGS crowd, it wasn't terribly significant outside of them. Furthermore, RGS is attached to urban which has obvious significance and it was the first major quest to be thoroughly de-constructed for its flaws and strengths here in the general. It was very rare for singular quests to dominate the general on how it worked on a technical level before the RGS meltdowns. [nobody talked about this fucker or persona when they ended]

To say RGS wasn't significant is to say that unless you were nips tier and able to immediately inspire some tumblerinas to start a quest then you weren't significant. and even by that standard rgs kind of qualifies.

That's the reason I consider it most significant. Plenty of quests were moving towards character-driven at around the same time, but RGS feels like a significant milestone to me in how we INTERACTED with quests.

Five Nights at Pony was actually pretty good and hilarious, though the QM was shit. Sadly it was a 'you had to be there at the time' kind of thing. The 'quality control' now is the exact same as back then. If something is shit it'll die. The general always focused on characters and as it evolved this got more refined from a general attitude into a 'push' as you call it. I know you're an RGS player and so it impacted you a lot and you want your identity to be meaningful, but that doesn't mean it was.

Thanks though, you got me to reread the first cyoag threads, where not only did RGS have a presence [apparently the thread had archived during cyoag #2 and there was a long stint of RGS posting] but I also found the first addition of the advice page, which also proves you wrong about 'character first!' being a cornerstone of the generals creation.

Discord is actually a bit subdued compared to ol Sheggy. Though knowing the lore, I wouldn't be surprised if Discord was Sheogorath's family friendly aspect. The Aedra and Daedra of TES are weird in that way. Alduin, Auri-El and Akatosh are all aspects of the same Aedra.

Color scheme is okay, though I am questioning the health of his legs. I do hope that he visits the hospital before the quest starts, as it might be a little difficult to adventure across equestria with broken legs.
