2 months ago in valentines thread I posted a horseshoe that I made for RD. There was some interest so I posted the rest of my models. One anon even wanted to get all six. Since there is no Craft/Plush thread to post it in – here we go.

Twilight is next, since I already have buyers. Rarity will probably be last because I have very little idea how to make her mane with faux fur. Her mane is so elaborate and beautiful that it might require simplification. "Wet mane" Rarity would be easy though.
Briefly I considered minky manes but there's the thing: I made those plushies the way I would wanted them to be and I prefer faux fur. Pictures and movies cannot convey how awesome those are man. There are a lot of artists that already perfected minky manes so faux fur manes are a more promising niche, since I would start from nothing and I would not have heart for it.

Consider unbrushed…

I love the look of the spikes for Rarity. My old critique is that Flutters and Twi kind of look like mustaches where their names are.

The only crafty thing I have recently that isn't plush. Woodburned my computer panel. Was going to save this for a battlestation thread but it'll still be a few weeks before my sister gtfo's my house and I can move my tower.

I accept orders but right now I only do RD and AJ. I have 2 for sale right now. I won't offer any other pony before making it at least once. In theory I could make an OC if it a mane six recolour. Notice that AJ and RD have different manes in the show but those plushes have exactly the same mane pattern. Faux fur is kind of forgiving. Just give specification and I will be more precise. And while I have nothing against lewd I can't do lewd right now. Maybe in the future I could make a "maintenance" zipper but not right now.

In case of Flutters these were supposed to be lips, or top part of a heart, since she is so lovely.

Eyelashes are made with black felt, 4mm thick, 700 grams/m^2. They are very durable and as black as an event horizon. But instead of felt these could be made the same way the eyebrow is made – digital embroidery. Zoom pic related and see how 3d the eyebrow appears. The same could be done with eyelashes.

From $600 up. The way this works is this: I have a queue of offers sorted in descending order. I work from the top. If you offer $600 then your offer might not get to the top in reasonable time. People are still bidding for RD you see in the pictures. I expected to sell RD for around $900 but top offer now is close to $1500. The winner pays second best offer + $1 and gets plushie instantly. The other 2-3 top bidders then can place orders for price they bid, but they will have to wait for me to make more plushies. You are in luck though because Fluttershy's mane will be easy to do with faux fur (and holy shit it will look incredible).

You can always bid $601. All it takes is an email and your turn might come. But if $600 is too expensive then you are out of luck, cause no one makes them this cheap since this is little over the production cost. But this generation is ending and a big dip in orders might be coming for all plush makers, so don't get discouraged.

I had the motor and electronics left over from another project, so I'd thought i'd try to use them on this.
It runs rather slowly and it's not heavy enough to pull all the cars up a grade without wheel-slip, but hey it lets me test and improve the design.
I got another motor and am in the process or redesigning it for that motor.

Don’t drop $100 per horseshoe for something you could 3D print and finish for $20 yourself. Hell you could set up an amateur casting system for less than $600, man.

Standard system seems to be to accept all orders with one price and then make people wait 4-6 months for the results. This is OK if plushmaking is your main job. It's a second price auction, there is no "getting bid up" unless people are being stupid. If there was someone willing to pay $2k, then the top bid would already be $2k, not $1500. It's not like a regular auction where you can save a bunch of money by bidding "previous bid + $0.01" instead of the amount you're actually willing to pay.

Yeah I didn't really understand how that part was supposed to work, but it does seem kind of weird. Dude should just auction the plushies/commission slots if that's what he wants to do, and don't bother with these weird lower-priced pity commissions for people who almost won.

Let me just mention that this "auction" system is just because I made those 2 plushies without anyone ordering. It also allows me to objectively estimate the price. Once this auction is finished I will just accept offers but still higher ones go first. This Russian guy who makes stunning figurines has a similar system, but the more you pay the better quality you get. In my case quality is fixed but the time you wait drops.

I'd expect you to auction off the existing AJ + RD, and then separately auction off commission slots as you have time to make more plushies. Possibly carrying over bids from previous auctions, since if someone is willing to pay $1000 for the existing RD but doesn't win, then they'd probably also be willing to pay $1000 to commission a new RD later on. But the thing about "top 2-3 bidders" sounds like you're doing something more complicated/non-obvious.

There is a way to simplify it.
What is being auctioned: commission slots.
Each successive commission slot has longer waiting time.
First commission slot has waiting time of zero (since plush is already done).
The "top 2-3" simply means that I can't accept more than 3-4 orders at once.

Example bids:
>Buyer 1: $1500
>Buyer 2: $1200
>Buyer 3: $1000
>Buyer 4: $800
>Buyer 5: $600

Results when bidding is closed:
>Buyer 1: pays $1201, gets plush instantly
>Buyer 2: is offered to place an order for $1001
>Buyer 3: is offered to place an order for $801
>Buyer 4: waits for free slots
>Buyer 5: waits for free slots

This might seem non-intuitive but you don't have to understand this. You just bid and get offered a slot which is one dollar more than next best offer.

A metal capable printer costs like $50,000 minimum, and printed parts are pretty much always inferior to cast/molded ones and this is true for metal as well. You could probably use something like shapeways if they offer metal printing (I'm not actually sure they do), but even then it's unlikely to be much cheaper, might actually be more expensive, and again you're still getting an inferior printed part.

Do you mean something you want to craft or something you want to buy?
If you were thinking of metal, a jigsaw with a metal cutting setup, and a rotary grinder should be able to make a quite serviceable display replica of Twilight’s EoH tiara/crown with minimal extra effort using only cold hammering.
If you actually want a figurine in metal, and don’t have a big setup you could get some wax and plaster and set up a small injection mold using something like solder (lead/tin) or pewter (tin/copper) which should be meltable even if you’re just using a butane torch. Might take you a few tries to get right, but definitely doable.
Of course I love me some wood, so I’d do a nice ebony NMM myself, but that’s just me. Peaking of which, Ponka Poplar is progressing nicely.

Mold out a mirror image of what you want in wax or wood, press it into plaster or some other very fine sand/clay to get your impression and pour in your melty metal. Biggest hassle for me was finding someplace with an oxyacetylene torch to borrow to melt copper, with lower temperature metals it should be quite doable at home. Only issue would be the unfinished backside, which if you wanted it very pretty you’ll need to hand grind to shape. to do it right you really would need to have a real injection mold setup, but I can still see a way clear to doing even that for only a couple hundred of you wanted, using plaster and wax molds. You’d need to make new casts for each horseshoe, but that’s more time consuming than expensive. Probably worth a look if you were into that sort of thing?

As for me, nope. I'm an expert at having strong opinions about things I never apply myself. A brand of your waifu IS a great way to remember her, but I "will get around to it" some time maybe one day.
I also still live with my parents (housing market in big cities hooray) and have been keeping my power level entirely under wraps, and I'm not interested in some grand heist adventure to get branded in secret or something. Hopefully within the next couple of years I'll be able to move out (that is unless I decide to pursue a PhD, in which case make that like 5-6 years).

Usually I draw up a silhouette and cut that out on a scrollsaw, then do the shaping with mostly a rotary tool and the occasional supplemental chisel, gouge or knife, then finish with various grains of sandpaper. I reached my fuck-it-I’m-done point at about 180 grit on ponk, even though some 220 or steel wool probably would have made a difference with those little fuzzy bits.
I don’t think I’m gonna put a shiny coat on this one, so I think she’s pretty much done. Maybe just sharpening up her cutie mark a little, the stain seeped a little bit.
I’m also bored and want something to do, tell me which mane six I need to do next guys.

Paint is for clayworkers, dammit! But in all seriousness, pretty much only because I like the look of stained wood over painted wood; it keeps that natural grain and wooden vibe and I prefer the neutral tones, although wood dyes can be nice too. Definitely should have used paint in lieu of stain on the eyelashes and balloon strings though; it really spread too much and once it does, well, it’s called “stain” for a reason.
As for the shop, it’s a detached garage, so at least the house isn’t having any issues.

Yeah, it’s a bit browner than I hoped, but I don’t even usually bother staining, so as long as it was a shade of red I wasn’t being fussy with my sepia ponk. (That’s why her eyes are gray)
You could definitely do better color matching, if you sat down with a powder dye kit and worked out some different formulas for light and dark pink.

I know that chocolate can be tempered in a way that preserves its structure and gives the chocolate a shiny exterior, but that requires a level of precision that I don't have when melting the chocolate. Limited equipment. College fag without access to an oven, so I used a 100*-500* C heat gun to melt the chocolate into a silicone mold. Personally I'd be more comfortable selling the molds as I can guarantee the quality on those. I resin printed the imprint for the silicone and the silicone itself is pretty heat resistant, food safe, and if I remember correctly it's microwave safe too. That also opens the door to a variety of different custom molding options aside from horse penises and vaginas. So basically anything that could be 3D printed could be molded. I also wouldn't have to worry about poisoning anybody if I'm just sending them the inedible component of the chocolates. Forget how the cock chocolates look, I'm not taking the risk of getting someone sick if they're paying me for something.

Which reminds me, if this thread is still slow by the time I get home this evening I'll probably share my pony printing projects. I've been experimenting with printing ponies at 25mm scale with mixed results, so those would be interesting enough to spark some (You)s in this thread.

Well this one isn't specially the 25mm scale model I've been toying with as that one has a number of flaws from the printing process. Apparently I didn't add enough support materials around the tail and it completely disappeared into the resin vat. It looks like shit since it was a test but I'll probably dig it out of the garage when I get the chance tomorrow, just to show the scale and level of detail.

But this one was the one that I made for my santa during last year's secret santa exchange. I probably should've added something like a quarter for scale but the whole model fit onto a 65mm grass base. Once I get through with my longer term print I'll get started with another pony, this time only a bit larger.

I usually give them away as gifts since selling them is a bit of a complicated matter. Although I printed and painted the models myself, the models they were printed from aren't mine. I usually find an SFM model from a site like ponysfm and decompile it for Blender with the crowbar decompiler. In Blender I can pose the model and export it as an STL file, where I can prepare it for printing and add supports in Meshmixer. Also for some reason a lot of model authors make a big deal out of not decompiling their models, probably for this reason or something similar.

Just a note: if you decide that you have to open her – remove the head. Neck is hand-sewn. The rest is machine-sewn. It will be far easier to re-attach the head than any other part. For example if you open her through the back (spine-line) you will have a hard time.

And the cutie marks – I think embroidery + applique ("minky fillings") for the cutie marks is a standard way. Full-embroidery looks bad imo. Up close it looks like a pixelated image. Applique is waaaay better.

What is unique in my plushies (I never seen it done before, I got the idea myself) is iron-on transfer applique eyes. No embroidery will give you this effect up-close.

And the embroidery is so tight and crisp because I use a machine that costs $43k. It's not mine of course but I found someone who would grant me access to it.

Iron-ons were made in my kitchen, using my own iron kek. Printed on HP printer that costed me around $150. But I'm already considering using something more profesional.

Embroidery machine does both embroidery and applique. You still have to cut the pieces after they are sewn to the base material yourself. It takes around 2h to do both eyes, both cutie marks and 2 wings. But I have to travel 50km to do this, since business that does this is not in my town. But it's worth the time and effort.

The machine is so costly because it is an industrial heavy load machine. It allows simultaneous work with 5 copies of the same embroidery (there are 5 "heads"/units that do the same work). They use it all day to "print" logos on t-shirts, jackets, towels and other stuff.

1. buy special transfer paper (for dark fabrics)
2. print your design on transfer paper
3. iron-on your design on a piece of white cotton fabric
4. roughly cut it
5. use your cotton with transferred design on minky fabric as an applique

Check on youtube how iron-on transfers work.

Well since nobody else is posting I might as well share what I've been up to.

This is the casual Luna model I've been trying to prepare for a print for the past few months now. The biggest problem I'm facing is generating support material that won't physically adhere to the model itself. Because when the support pylons get close enough to the model itself they support it by irreversibly fusing with it. Making them damn near impossible to remove without ripping out chunks of the final product. I'm likely going to solve this by segmenting the model into separate parts and printing those individually. But in the mean time I just need an appropriate time window to actually sit down and work with it more.

Although the STL alone isn't publicly available the SFM model is, you can find it on pony sfm.I just downloaded a source model decompiler called crowbar and imported the files into Blender for posing. After posing the model I export it as an STL and use Meshmixer to fix any flaws that would otherwise go unnoticed by Blender. Because if I remember correctly a standard blender STL file will be considered hollow by default with infinitely thin walls, therefor a 3rd party plugin is required to make it work properly.

tl;dr
SFM Model -> Crowbar Decompiler -> Blender -> Meshmixer -> 3D Printer Slicing Software

To get the darkened genitals effect, I have a seperate mold for just the pussies. I cast those first, place them in the butt mold, and then fill in around those.

Of course, there's nothing stopping me from just using the pussy mold. Right now I'm making ice cubes for when I have friends over, but later I'm planning on making some FoE inspired sparkle cola gummies.

While reorganizing, my Octavia plushie had the head fall off. (I used the wrong thread before I learned how to plush properly.) The plushie had a severe case of floppy head syndrome so I decided to fix it by sticking a pencil in the neck and it fixed the problem instantly.

That being said, I'm wondering if a thin pool noodle with metal coat hangers stuck through the middle would be a good idea for lifesize plushies to support the neck/head while minimizing discomfort with cuddles. I'm tempted to give it a shot with my Octavia lifesize since she's falling apart. (Same thread issue as the first.)

Custom designed, yup. I originally intended for those front panels to be woodburned with "MLP" and then the mane 6 cutiemarks down the front but ultimately never did it. It wasn't until a couple months ago that I finally woodburned the MLP logo on the side panel. This was the first woodworking project I ever did so there are a lot of mistakes but it still looks decent from a short distance. I honestly made it way too big.

I'd like to build a smaller one that is easier to move. I recently used my woodworking tools for the first time since I finished this case years ago to build a horse shoe pit. Next will be a gate. Depending on if I have any motivation left, I might do another wood case this summer.

My main recommendation is sketch it in Fusion 360 or some kind of CAD program first. Also, trying to find the back IO panel that the GPU screws onto is a bitch to find.

I work for the railroad. I wear (a copy) of that hat to work when it gets cold. The one she's wearing has an off-center logo so I had to make a second one for myself. It gets some decent reactions from my coworkers but at this point mostly everyone knows I have the hat.

She's been moved around a lot with all the times I've cleaned and reorganized over the years. I used embroidery thread on accident so the thread just snapped. With the floppy head it just pulled the seams right apart. A similar thing is happening to my lifesize Octavia as well. There's a rip in the leg, the mane is falling off, and I had to fix the spine years ago which was a major bitch. Rainbow, on the other hand, was made with proper cotton/poly thread and triple stitched. It's difficult to seam rip anything on her much less have to worry about her falling apart.

The layer height on my printer is so small that they're practically invisible on the final product. Sanding isn't really necessary when your layers are only 0.05mm to 0.01mm in height. Just one of the many perks of the resin printing master race.

With my current set up, that's pretty damn difficult if not impossible. The way I melt my chocolates involves cutting it until its nearly a powder and applying heat until all of the chocolate melts into the mold. From there I squeeze the sides to make sure its evenly distributed. I could theoretically insert a SECOND positive to create a concave area for some sort of filling, but at 1.8 inches in length they're already fragile enough. Take a look at >>33818074 , you can see some of them broke at the shaft just from being removed from the mold and had to be repaired with more chocolate.

Then just create a male mold to go with your current female one which will create a pocket, and channel if you want, for the cream to reside. So this is a bit of a story.

Initially around late 2018 I started watching chemistry videos and learned how to make soap. Turns out it's pretty easy. Since I go to a few conventions I figured I might as well make some soap horsepussies and horsecocks and then I can meme about people lathering themselves up with a horsecock or horsepussy, and throw them in my secret santa as well. I used cheap crayola air dry clay and amazon silicone, it was shitty but it worked. After the con I decided I wanted to make better molds, so I purchased 64oz of food-grade silicone, non-toxic Plasticine, and just molded everything by hand. This was fucking hard to get all the details down since I'd never done any modeling before. After I made the initial large pussy and silicone mold, I decided that it might be smarter to make something more bar of soap- sized, so I made the butt. This was even worse because I had to get both sides perfectly symmetrical.

I make the small horsepussy seperately, then cast a mold of that. Then there are too many bubbles in the silicone so I can't use that as a mold. After 3 fucking iterations of casting and remolding, I figure out that the bubbles were being caused by me refrigerating the silicone prior to pouring (This was done to delay the curing time to allow the air bubbles to rise and leave), which INCREASED the solubility of air inside the silicone causing it to come out as bubbles right as it started solidifying. Finally get my mold to work, freeze the pussy to get it harder then heat the ass to make it soft, then I just squeezed the hot ass around the cold pussy letting it deform naturally. Because I used a separate mold for the pussy it means it's an exact replica and fits perfectly. By the end of it I barely had enough silicone to get the last two molds done but it worked.

I've used a little food-safe resin to make hard statues with varying results. I also was able to make a resin mold of the pussy which I can use to make soft squishable mini silicone horsepussies.

The project was fun but I'm seriously questioning if anyone will be interested enough to buy anything.

in total for the pic it probably cost around $150 USD in materials, not including the equipment. Equipment was basically just some silicone brushes and modeling tools I bought off amazon, a paint brush, isopropyl alcohol, and one of those little torch lighters shaped like a pen I would use on the clay to melt and smooth it out.

But if I could go back and rebuild everything using a 3D printed base, I absolutely fucking would.
