>>36102138 >Celestia strode back into her room with two breakfasts in tow. “Here, I got this for you last night. I hope it's the sort you like.”
>She set one of the plates on Luna's nightstand and tore off a piece of the bread on it. >Luna sniffed at the piece and the cheese on it as it floated to her, nodded, and let Celestia pop it in her mouth. >”Mm! Is 'ood.” >Luna shuffled to the very edge of her bed. >Close enough that she pushed against the railing. >“Sis-ee.” >Celestia gulped down the last of her breakfast and turned to look. >”Too-day. Yo meet. Big meet.” >Luna had a very focused look on her as she stuck a hoof out. >”Yo meet her. She 'ood. R-emm-emm-b. She 'ood. She hh-elp. Let her.” >The sisters stared at each other for a second. >Celestia took her sister's dark hoof into hers and stroked it. “Of course. I'll get you any help she has to offer.”
>She flashed a warm smile at her younger sister before making their plates and glasses pile themselves. >“Sis-ee. Be c-aar-ff-ul. 'emb—r. She hh-elp. She not bad.” >Celestia's pure white coat clashed with Luna's dark blue as she nuzzled her sibling's hoof. “I promise to accept any help she has to give, for the both of us. Does that sound good enough?”
>”Yaas.” >Celestia's lips curled into a warm smile. “Good. I wish I could stay, but it's going to be a busy day. I'll take a break to drop by as often as I can.”
>She pushed Luna's hoof back onto the bed, stroked her cheek, and trotted out of the room. Mirta !hda3cgeEM2

>Celestia studied the label on the cardboard box she had with her and compared part codes with those on the shelf in front of her. >They matched, so she floated one of the whatevers into her box. >Now she only nee- >Bzzzzt! >Her collar vibrated. >She set her box on the shelf and trotted towards the shop. >There were two people with Anon, both of which Celestia remembered from when they brought Luna. >A young man barely out of his teens and a middle-aged woman with a stern look on her. >The latter looked at Celestia the moment she pushed storeroom door open. >”Ah, the former princess Celestia. Good to see you out in the open again. ” >Her voice still had its commanding backdrop, but wasn't strict in the slightest and had some warmth to it. >”Now, I was told that you're quite busy today, so shall we go straight to business? Is there somewhere a little more private?” >She glanced at Anon. >He pointed at the stairs. >”Yeah, upstairs. Help yourselves to some tea if you want.” Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36185356 >Celestia's magic pulled back three chairs from around the dining table as soon as they got to the kitchen. “Should I put the kettle on?”
>Only the woman sat down. >She glanced around, then pulled a phone out of her pocket and placed it on the table in front of her. >”Go ahead.” >Fingers tapped on the screen of her phone, but the sound was masked by Celestia pulling out a pot. >”Is your... sister awake?” >The young man's voice was shaky. >”She needs her exercise if she's to get better. Can I...?” >Celestia cast a glance at him, studying him from head to toe. >He looked more nervous than anything, and she'd promised to take any help they offered. “She is. Down the hall, further door on the left. Be patient with her: she loves talking, but can be hard to understand.”
>His lips curled to a shaky smile. >”Trust me, I know. I worked with her for months.” >A golden aura plonked the pot onto the stove as he strode out of the room. “Is it true?”
>Celestia poured two cups of water into the kettle, popped the stove on, then glanced at the woman. >”Yes. He's the one who took care of her in there and did the report that led to her rescue.” >She scrolled through some news site, scanning each piece and pointing a finger at each headline as she read it. Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36185361 >”So. Your sister was easy, but you are not.” >The woman, who'd introduced herself as Kathy, was reading something on the science page as Celestia reached for the cookies she bought. >”How can I help you? Do you need some kind of physical therapy? Exercise? Or perhaps psychotherapy? I'd really prefer if you accepted something, even if it's just for the headlines.” >Celestia arched a brow and shot a glare at the woman. “Headlines? What are you planning?”
>Kathy's finger tapped on some headline just before she punched a button to turn the screen off. >”I'm planning on making both ponies' lives and my job easier by showing that abuse has consequences.” >She blew some air out of her nose. >”There's only two inspectors in this city and we have to cover the countryside too. Most reports go straight into the trash simply because we don't have anywhere near enough time to check them.” >Her gaze was downcast and the angle of light made the wrinkles on her face stand out so she looked far older than she was. >The sigh she let out was laced with desperation and tiredness. Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36185370 >”It's like we're a fire brigade who only have time to tackle the raging infernos while hoping the rain eventually puts out the smaller fires.” >Celestia floated a cookie to her, then cranked the stove's dial back to zero as the water began to boil. “Is it that bad?”
>”Hah! No.” >The woman's lips curled to a smile as she snatched the cookie out of the air. >”I just never see the well-treated ones, that's all. There's very few cases per capita, but even those add up to too much when the area we have to supervise is so massive. Anyhow...” >She cracked off a piece of her cookie, tossed it in her mouth, and chewed away. >”...back to you. You seem to be just fine physically, so how about some psychotherapy? A weekly session?” >Celestia's golden aura guided two cups onto the table, then dropped a teabag in each. “I'm pretty sure I've heard everything therapists have to say over the years, but why not if you think it helps others.”
Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36185376 >”So, to go over this once more.” >Kathy lifted her cup to her lips and took a sip. >”Someone will come over every other day to exercise with Luna for as long as it's needed. I'll do my best to make sure it's always the same person, but it's ultimately out of my control.” >She tapped her phone's screen as she went over the notes she'd written. >”Beyond that, a veterinarian will visit her monthly and she'll be provided with any services deemed necessary. For you, we'll arrange weekly cognitive psychotherapy. Hopefully starting next week, but I can't promise we'll find a suitable therapist in time. Sounds good?” >Celestia swirled her cup in her magic and watched the tea flow back and forth. >She felt all twitchy and pumped up, but had centuries of experience in how to keep it hidden. >She'd promised to accept any help offered and she wouldn't let Luna down, no matter how important her issue was. “It does.”
>”Right.” >Kathy's fingers danced on the screen for a few seconds. >”I'll get it all started as soon as I get back to the office. The paperwork will take a day or two to reach the right people, but past that it should be fast.” >A quick sip and a gulp emptied Celestia's cup of its mediocre tea. >She set her cup down. “Was that all of it? I have some questions of my own.”
>The bottom of her stomach tingled and she had to consciously hold her voice down. >”There's one more thing.” >Few swipes and taps brought the news site from before back on the screen. >Kathy spun her phone around and slid it to Celestia. >'Planet's rotation slows inexplicably – changes in magma flows of the outer core suspected' >”Do you know anything about that? I figured you might.” Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36185381 >Celestia slid the phone back after reading the piece. “Why yes, I do know something. I know you're running out of time to fix it before it's too late.”
>Her words came out loud and fast. >Kathy blinked and her brow furrowed as she stared at the pony with her lips cracked open. >”What do you mean? Explain yourself.” “Your world is grinding to a halt because the man who butchered my sister doesn't know what he's doing.”
>Celestia's tone shifted from the usual friendliness to one of contained rage. “This world will die if you don't find and stop him soon. Weather will cease to exist so your crops will wither and die of drought when the rivers run dry – if they're lucky enough to survive that far because day and night will stop their cycle and half the world will be in permanent darkness while the other half becomes a scorched desert.”
>Her chair scraped the floor as she pushed it back. >The woman opposite to her scampered back the little she could as Celestia reared up. >The cups clattered on their plates as two white hooves slammed down on the table. “You WILL-”
>Slam. >She whacked the table again for emphasis. “-find him and return what he stole.”
>Her breathing was heavy as she sat down – a sign she'd got more into it than she intended. Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36185387 >Fortunately, Kathy didn't look worse for the wear. >”Simmer down. I'm doing all I can. You have to understand that law enforcement is entirely out of my control. He's wanted, but what he did wasn't severe enough for an active search – and there's nothing I can do to change that.” >She kept her voice calm. >The only sign of nervousness was that she had a hand in her pocket to fiddle with something that jingled like keys. >”I'll talk about what you said with my superior and send it up the chain. I'm someone higher up is looking for the reasons for all the oddities, even if they don't say it out loud to prevent needless hysteria.” “Well then.”
>Celestia stood up again and tread to the window. >She looked up into the sky, straight at the sun. “Let me lend a helping hoof.”
>Her horn lit up as she reached higher, and higher, and higher... >At first, nothing happened. >Then the world went dark. >Up in the sky hung a patch of pure darkness surrounded by faint, wispy fans of superheated plasma. >Kathy clambered onto her feet and stumbled to the window. >Her jaw hung open as she stared up at the sky. “You're welcome.”

>>36162399 > The boring and uninterested dragged on. Perhaps the only bright spot in Anon's day was when he finally got back to the Canterlot Castle and Celestia all but scooped him up in her hooves and wings. > The way she lavished kisses on his face was nice, too. It was a good thing they were alone, at least momentarily. > After that there was a meeting with Callahan and Eli and Fire Fly, which Anonymous would have preferred to skip, but there had been no time to brief the Princess on what they'd decided, so it fell to him to present it. > He was just speaking about the decisions they'd reached with the Secretary General and mentioned how Miriam has helped on some of the more difficult points. > Callahan scowled a little at that, and the Captain and Eli looked blank, but Celestia gave a small gasp and her muzzle split into a grin. > "You did not tell me you saw Miriam, Anonymous!" she accused. "How is Miriam Adams?" > The Commander heaved a sigh and tried to drag them back to the topic at hand. "Princess, is this be best time for gossip?" > Celestia just ignored him, which made the man's face redden and a vein start to throb on his temple. Anon thought it best to finish the distraction quickly. "Yeah, I told her she should visit soon and I think she said yes. I'll tell you more after the meeting, okay?"
> Celestia gave him a happy nod and turned to face the table again. "Very well, Commander," she continued as if there had been no interruption. "You may proceed with your... strike. When word comes back that you have secured the portal on Earth, I will let Luna know and she will allow passage." > So far so good. This part of the plan was to the Commander's liking and he nodded curtly. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194506 > "You are to send all the ponies, both the captives and their captors, over to the Equestrian side. I will arrange transport for them to Canterlot and we will handle it internally." > This was the bit Callahan didn't like. In his eyes the ponies who'd sided with the criminals were just as guilty as their human counterparts and they deserved a taste of the human justice system. > His heart was in the right place and the man staunchly believed in justice, but for some reason he was convinced that the Equestrian courts would go easy on their own citizens. > He didn't argue anymore, not after being ordered to do exactly what Celestia wanted by his superiors. "Yes, ma'am. I trust you will hold your end of the agreement and hand over the human prisoners as soon as they come here?" > It was a point Celestia had been willing to concede, despite wanting to keep the criminals for a couple of days of questioning. More importantly, she'd wanted to keep the freed slaves in Canterlot to make sure they were recovering from their ordeal. > She looked at Anon, who shrugged and nodded, telling her that the Commander was correct about the agreement they'd reached the previous day. > "Of course. We will hold to the agreement, Commander," Celestia confirmed. > "Good, there's just one more thing I need to know," Callahan continued, opening his briefcase and taking out a yellow folder. He removed some glossy papers and spread them on the table before himself. > Anon and Celestia shared a look and there was a question in her eyes. "I don't know, this didn't come up yesterday."
> The Commander caught their exchange and a grin appeared on his face. "I only received these photos today, Your Highness. They are low altitude stealthplane shots and my men can't make heads or tails about them." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194509 > He pushed the papers forward and Celestia picked them up in her magic. Anon craned his neck to look and she accommodated him by holding the photos at arm's length. > It showed a stretch of some sparse forest with a couple of snaky dirt roads visible as white lines. There was a large clearing in the middle, but it looked like scorched grass. > Anon and Celestia stared, trying to make sense of the scale and the devastation. "Have they burned down their camp when they found out the portal was blocked?"
> The Princess was staring intently at the middle photo, which showed the southern side of the clearing and a stretch of forest beyond. She was chewing on her lip thoughtfully and her ears twitched up and down as she considered. > "Maybe this will help. The plane was sent on a lower altitude to get some close ups of the camp itself," Callahan interrupted and slid two more photos their way. > Celestia's magic picked them up and held them alongside the original three. Most of the frame was black, with strange hints of structure, very much like burned grassland. > Anon could recognize a large, square building, but it was either burned to the ground or covered with tar, leaving only a few patches of white concrete visible. > "Hmm," Celestia said, eyes scanning the new pictures. The second was of a group of buildings, if that was what they were. There were square-shaped bulges in the black terrain. > Finally, Celestia lowered the photos and gave the Commander a tight-lipped look. "I'm afraid I don't know what to make of this. Perhaps Anonymous is correct and the criminals burned their camp down when they realized they'd been discovered?" AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194513 > The man shook his head while Celestia passed the photos to Fire Fly and Eli. "I don't think so," Callahan replied. "I spoke with the flight crew on radio and they said the fires were green and purple. It definitely looked out of the world, they assured me." > This made Celestia blink in shock. "Green and..." > She was already white, but by now Anon knew her enough to realize she would have paled in shock. "Surely she didn't-" "Did what? Who? You know what this is?" Anon asked.
> The chair clattered on the floor as Celestia sprang upright and began pacing the small room. He ears had gone completely flat and her mouth was pressed in a tight, displeased line. > She stopped and glared at the Commander with such intensity that he flinched back. "How large is the black circle?!" she demanded. > He glanced down at his notes. "The crew estimated at one-point-five clicks diameter. About a mile across, Princess." > The news made the mare grunt and she whirled around to continue her pacing. Anon stood up and stopped her with a hand on her withers. "Talk to me."
> Celestia stared in Anon's eyes and said just one word: "Luna!" > Something tickled his memory and he recalled their conversation in the bath. "You think this is the bad thing she didn't want to tell you?"
> "I bet it is," the mare almost growled. "Undoubtedly she thought she could clean it up before anypony knew. She might not have realized it would spread through the portal." > Celestia tore free from Anon's hand and went back to pacing and grumbling. Luckily she kept it low enough so that Eli and Callahan couldn't hear. Anon was close enough and Fire Fly had pony ears. > "I am going to *wring* that little filly's neck when I get my hooves on her!" "Hey, relax. It probably isn't that bad."
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194518 > The Princess twirled again and faced the table. She took a forced breath to relax and closed her eyes for a moment. > When she spoke, her voice was calm again. "The ground is not burned, Commander, but rather infested with dark magic. I believe my Sister has used Sombra's magic to prevent passage through the portal. She must not have realized that it would spread on the other side, even if she is keeping it in check on ours." > This made Captain Fire Fly let out a small whimper and shrink down in his seat, while Eli and Callahan looked confused. The Commander regrouped first. "How bad is it?" > Celestia's ears folded down again, but she answered: "If left unchecked, the corruption will spread over your entire world." > "WHAT?!" Callahan was suddenly on his feet. "How do we fight it? I'll authorize a nuke right now!" > The word was unfamiliar to the ponies and Celestia gave Anonymous a questioning look. He swallowed and shook his head slightly, which was all the information she needed. > "No, not that," she said, forcing herself to speak calmly. "I am not certain any of your weapons would eradicate this- this *infestation*." > Suddenly her smile turned evil and both Eli and the Captain looked decidedly uneasy. > "Instead, what I will do is send Princess Luna with you to clean up her own mess. She will obey all your orders, as long as you do not make her commit crimes. I promise you that!" > This news calmed the Commander down a little and he took his seat again. "So, what do we do about this until then?" he asked. > "Nothing. Your men are to stay away. I only hope the criminals were smart enough to have run when it started to spread." "W-What would it do to a person?"
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194525 > The Princess looked uncertain as she considered, then closed her eyes and shook her head. "Without Lord Sombra to guide it, I am not sure. My best guess is that it would enslave people like it was meant to do, but without orders they would simply... wait." "Can they be freed?"
> This time Celestia nodded immediately. "Yes. Both myself and Luna can perform that spell. If it fails to work, we will have to bring them to the Crystal Empire so the Crystal Heart can cleanse them." > The news relaxed everyone at the table and even Celestia sat down, though her gaze was still troubled. Anon reached a hand over and patted her neck. "I'm sure Luna had good reasons for using this," he tried to reassure the Princess.
> She shrugged. "Perhaps. What I am worried about, and Luna does not seem to realize: if the corruption draws enough power into itself, it can bring Sombra back. I do not want him loose on Earth!" > Commander Callahan accepted the photos back from Fire Fly and glanced them over before returning them to the folder. He cleared his throat. "Who is this Sombra and why is this magic bad, Princess? I need to know the worst case scenario so we can prepare." > She didn't really want to answer, but the man was right and Celestia owed him an explanation in her sister's name. She swallowed a lump and let out a slow breath. > "Very well, Commander. It is a long story, though. Captain," she turned to Fire Fly, "since you already know this, could you find somepony and ask for some tea to be brought in?" > The guard hopped to his hooves, threw a salute and left. > "Sombra came to power in the Crystal Empire a little more than a thousand years ago..." > ~~~~ AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194530 > Nothing much had changed for Princess Luna as she waited for reinforcements at the human camp. The injured former prisoners were recovering well and none of the criminals had tried a counter attack to reclaim the camp. > Heat Lightning thought he saw some movement nearby on his night patrol, but by the time he could land and check it out, whatever had been there was gone. > Hunger would eventually drive them to surrender, the Princess had no doubts about that. Her bigger concern was boredom. > Sombra's evil crystal magic still held fast within its protective ring and there had been no obvious attempt to breach the portal from the other side. > Soon the enemy camp on Earth would be captured and then she could finally dispel the dark magic and stop lying to her sister. Celestia was getting quite nosy in their dream meetings. > The sun was setting and Luna finished her circuit around the quiet camp. She paused at the hut where Black Velvet threw her a smart salute. "Private, is the Corporal back from his round?"
> "He's inside, Princess." > He probably had nothing new to report, or he would have sought her out directly. Guarding of the defeated human encampment was mostly boring, after all. "I will get his report and meet with Sister in the dream world. Then I will come and relieve you for the night."
> The stallion was uneasy of having the Princess of all ponies stand guard while he and his superior officer slept, but he had been trained well enough never to question her orders. > "Thank you, ma'am!" > Luna ducked into the gloomy interior, where a single candle was flickering fitfully on the table. There were darker shapes against the far wall and she heard quiet snoring. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194537 > The Corporal was sitting at the dying fire. He had looked over when she was speaking with the guard outside, but now his eyes had been drawn back to the embers. "Anything, Corporal?" Luna asked in a soft voice so as not to wake their guests.
> "Sorry, Princess. I'm sure there are some humans in the forest, but I wasn't able to spot them." "Any ponies?"
> The soldier shook his head. "No. I caught a whiff of human a few times, but no ponies other than us." "Good. Get some rest. I must meditate to meet with Sister and then I will be taking the first watch. I want you on the second."
> Rather than replying, Heat Lightning just saluted. He kept the gesture slow, so as not to clank his hoof against his helmet and wake the sleeping people. > He didn't move from the fire, though, even after Luna had waited for a while. "Corporal?"
> His head turned again, eyes reflecting the fading daylight outside. "I said you are relieved for now."
> "Thank you, ma'am. I'd prefer to stay up and... and watch the fire." "Is everything alright?" Luna inquired.
> She sat on her haunches next to the guard and joined him in staring at the dying embers. For a while he was quiet, but eventually he answered his Princess: "It's just- Princess, I saw how the slaves were kept and how they were made to work. Why would ponies do that?" > It wasn't something Luna had been expecting and she took some time to think it over. What would Celestia say to this? "Corp- Heat Lightning. Most ponies are good, but not all. I don't know how else to put it. There will always be a few bad apples in the bunch, however carefully the crop was tended."
> "Yeah, but I never thought they'd- all this!" AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194544 "Don't worry, Sister and I will get some answers. We have the pony responsible in the Castle dungeon already. If there are more accomplices, they will be found and this cancer will be cut from our society."
> Luna was staring past the fire, into her memories of the recent years as she had helped rule beside Celestia. She had seen that darkness sometimes took hold in even the best of ponies. "Perhaps we are not yet as homogeneous as Sister and I would like. Some of the elite still think themselves better than their kin. Sometimes, one such can convince themselves that other people are worth less. That other people are not people at all."
> She watched the Corporal's face for any signs of understanding. She was about to explain again, but he gave a slight nod. "I'm glad we rooted out this place, Princess. I'm honored you chose me for this mission." > The fervor in his voice made Luna smile and she placed a wing around the stallion. He didn't seem to notice, at least not consciously, though he did lean against her side. "Stay still now, I must meditate to speak with Princess Celestia."
> Luna closed her eyes and focused. With her experience it was easy to slip partly into a dream. Such half-measures wouldn't be enough to fight even the most basic nightmare, but it was sufficient to speak with her Sister, who should be asleep by now. > She soon found Celestia among the slumbering ponies. Luna could never explain how she did it, but she always knew where to look for whomever she sought. > Celestia wasn't dreaming yet, but it was relatively easy to create a shared dream and pull her sister into it. She made it the Canterlot Castle balcony on a beautiful, cloudless, moonlit night. Her dream, her rules, after all. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194547 > The white alicorn walked from the balcony entrance and her eyes immediately focused on her sister. > "Luna!" > There was a growl in her voice and a scrunch to her muzzle which Luna didn't find comforting at all. "Sister? Is something the matter?"
> Celestia took three quick steps and stopped. She seemed to tower over her younger sister. "What have you done?! Tell me!" > Luna swallowed a lump and squared her shoulders. She was not a little filly anymore to be punished by her sister for every perceived slight! "I don't know what you mean."
> Celestia snorted, but not in amusement. "Sombra's magic? Really, Luna? Whatever possessed you to toy with something like that?!" "How did you-"
> "Because it spread to the other side! It is already a mile wide and growing by the hour!" > This was very unwelcome news and Luna lowered her ears. She gazed past her sister and her eyes darted around as she thought. "It should not spread at all! It did not spread on our side!"
> "How do you figure?" Celestia demanded. "You know we never studied it in too much detail. Magic like that is simply too dangerous and unpredictable! I am very disappointed Luna! Whatever could have possessed you to-" "I had to make sure, okay?!" Luna defended herself with hot tears in her eyes. "I did not know what I would find when I attacked. I didn't know how many unicorns the humans had working with them. I had to block the portal off in a way that wouldn't require constant checking if somepony had broken the shield during the battle!"
> "Why didn't you pull it down after the battle?" > Luna growled low in her throat, but she couldn't come up with an answer. By that point she'd already decided to leave Sombra's magic in place until the other side was safe. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194551 "I placed a ward around the portal to prevent it from spreading, but it didn't even try. I thought it was inert!"
> Celestia sat on her haunches heavily and let out a weary sigh. She put a hoof on her face. "Because it focused all its power into spreading on the other side, where it was not limited." > It made sense *now*, sure, but how was Luna supposed to have known that?! She was determined to clean up her mistake, though. "Fine! I will tear it down and then I'll go through the portal and cleanse the Earth side as well!"
> She stood up and was about to will herself out of the dream without another word, but Celestia reached out a hoof and laid it on Luna's back. > "Don't. We do not know if you can purge it through the portal and it could ensnare you the moment you step through. It is not safe." "Then what do you suggest?!"
> "You will come to Canterlot as quickly as you can. The relief team will be at the portal tomorrow and you can leave your guards in charge until then. You will go to Earth with Commander Callahan and he will get you to their side of the portal. There you will work under his commands for as long as it takes to cleanse the corruption from his world." > It would mean being away from Eli and her comfortable quarters for longer still, but the shame of not having foreseen this problem stung enough that Luna readily agreed. "I will. I swear."
> "Oh, and one more thing, Luna." "Hmm?"
> Celestia looked frightened for the first time since her tirade had begun. "If the infestation on the other side becomes large enough, it may bring Sombra back. If you suspect that's happened, do not fight him alone. Callahan will use his machines to contact me and I will come help." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194557 > Suddenly there was a chill running down Luna's spine and she felt as if her horn crawled with insects. "That can happen?! I didn't know that!"
> "I kept it a secret. We do not want misguided unicorns trying to bring him back." "What about the corruption on this side?"
> Celestia shrugged. "There are unicorns in the relief team, you will teach them the purging spell in their dream. As you said, your ward is holding and it should hold for long enough until we have this whole mess sorted out." > Luna let herself relax a little. Of course her sister would already have a plan for fixing her mistake. She was irritating like that sometimes, but it was also a very comforting thought. > She took the two steps until she was nuzzling Celestia's neck. Her sister's hooves came around in a big hug and Luna could have sworn she felt the warmth of sunlight on her fur. "Thanks. I'm sorry, and- thanks," she whispered.
> "You are to obey Callahan's every command, except if he tries to make you break the law or hurt somepony. Oh, and if he tries to take you to his bed. You may refuse that one." > Luna stiffened, but didn't pull away from the embrace. "He m-might do that?!"
> Her sister's gentle laughter reassured her. "That was not funny!"
> "Sometimes I think I would prefer that option to his demands to bring more soldiers into Equestria," Celestia murmured back. "Perhaps you and he will get along better since you both enjoy military matters. He can show you some of the machines he keeps talking about and you can show him how alicorns fight." > It sounded as if Celestia intended for Luna to stay on Earth for quite some time. She pulled away and looked her sister in the eyes. "Just how long do you mean for me to spend there?"
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36194562 > The older alicorn shrugged. "Until the corruption is banished. Send a signal to let the unicorns on our side know to dispel the crystals here, then you can return through the portal." > Now that it had been decided, Luna didn't want to lose any more time. The crystals had already spread across a mile on Earth in the few short days she had spent there. > The sooner she could start destroying them, the less chance of Sombra being re-instituted. "I will give my guards orders and begin my flight back immediately. With Twilight's lessons in long-distance teleportation, I will be in Canterlot by morning. Have the Commander ready to take me to Earth."
> Rather than answering Celestia grasped her with forelegs and brought her in for another warm, sisterly hug. "I will see you off. Fly safe, Sister." "And you have sweet dreams."
> Luna returned the embrace for a few more seconds, then woke herself up. Already excitement coursed through her. She'd forgotten about the guard pressed against her side in the night's chill and he fell down with a squawk as she stood. "Corporal, I have new orders..."

Just one or two more matters to wrap up in Canterlot, then we need to see how Lake Frond and her daughter are doing, maybe a quick visit to Blossom and I guess we're there, right?

No no no! You don't want to think about this kind of stuff! >Faustian adjusts her glasses with a wing as she shifts through her papers. >“Small world, isn't it?” >You slide up beside Master on the couch. >He looks understandably confused. “Faustie and I, uhh, knew each other back in Equestria.”>“Colleague to be exact. Back when 'Subliminal Messages' was just that, instead of 'Simple Needs'.” >You cringe at hearing your old name said out loud. >Even Master didn't know it until now. >Hopefully, he doesn't think you were hiding things from him! >That would make you a bad, bad pony, and bad ponies get punished! >Not that you can't take some firm punishment, but what if he does it right here in front of Faustie?! >Maybe you can head this problem off. “M-my trainers renamed me. I wasn't, uhh, taking well to reeducation at first....”>You were a naughty mare, and it hurts to admit it both to Master and Faustie! “I think it all turned out well though! And I like the new name!”>You snuggle up a bit closer to Master's side and worm your way under his arm, forcing him to wrap it around you. >Happy Horse really had to break you down and rebuild you, and the name was just a part of that.

It must have been a difficult thing to adjust to. Most ponies have had a hard time with that, adjusting.” >That's true for most, but things have been great for you. >After some tiny initial growing pains, at least. >A voice from the other side of the room alerts you to a second human you somehow missed browsing a bookshelf. >How did you not notice him? >Too focused on Faustie, you suppose. >“Would you describe yourself as well adjusted, Miss Simple?” he asks. >You know what they're doing, but what choice do you have but to answer? >Master brought you here, he'll expect you to cooperate even if you don't like it. >It doesn't matter what a slave likes. “I think so, sir...”
>You look up at Master for reassurance and receive a small smile, as well as some scratches, from the arm wrapped around you. >“By all accounts, you're an excellent servant to Mr. Anon -” >According to the heavy collar around your neck you're his SLAVE, not his servant, but the compliment is appreciated nonetheless. >“- but there's more to a healthy pony than how well they can follow orders.” >That's... true, you suppose. >You and Faustie weren't exactly best friends back in the day, but you enjoyed a friendly professional relationship. >You never thought you'd be on the patient side of things with her though. >“They truly are gone. We can speak freely. No hidden mics, or cameras, or anything like that.” >The thought had occurred to you, but can she be absolutely sure? >She's wearing a collar too. >It's a much more elegant and subtle design than your own, but you're sure he's still her master. “That's very trusting of him.”
>She smiles a bit. >“Doctor Andrews understands the importance of both trust and privacy. I've been very fortunate to end up with him. Have you been as fortunate with Mr. Anon?” “Yes! Yes, he’s been amazing.”
>You wrap your tail around you a bit more to hide the handprints he’d left on your cutie mark last night. >Amazing indeed! >”Really? Well, that’s wonderful. No… trouble? Conflict? Disagreements?” >You know what she’s trying to do and you’d rather not play the long drawn out game. “Can we just… I know where this is going Faustie. Things aren’t perfect, nothing is, but we’ve come to a good understanding. He commands, I listen, everyone’s happy. So, why am I here?”

>It wasn’t. The idea of being permanently marked as his is hot af. >She gives you a flat look and raises an eyebrow. “I was just asking if he’d thought about it!”
>”His statement says otherwise…” “I didn’t… he…”
>You can’t call Master a liar, but how else are you going to get out of this?! >“Frankly Subliminal, most of these reports are a bit concerning. Do you feel like you aren’t allowed to be happy?” “Of course I am. It’s just that what makes me happy has sorta... changed.”
>She maintains an even tone as she scribbles something down on her notes. >“Changed in what way? Does how you’ve been pushing him to treat you make you happy?” >Buck! “Well, maybe, but...”
>“So a very physical and dominant approach to being treated.” “I… uhh…”
>Just the term ‘dominant’ is enough to make you blush and flick your tail! >“It says here that you had to be slapped and muzzled in a store recently. Is that how you want to be treated? But…” >Oh boy. >Instead of dropping a bomb about how unhealthy and deviant you are though, she instead laughs a tiny bit? >“I think you should talk with him about it.” >That’s not what you expected. >Talk with him about being his slave? “Like… about this whole thing?”
>How would you even do that? >'Hey Master I know my entire body belongs to you but here’s a list of my likes and dislikes ok thanks.' >She gives you a small smile. >“I’ve only talked to him for a bit. He’s no bleeding heart, but he seems to be a nice human who cares about you and your health. There’s plenty of masters who wouldn’t need to be told twice to slap or kick their pony as motivation, and yet he’s brought you here because he’s worried about you. I’m not saying his motivations are completely pure, he did mention not wanting you to make a scene in public, but some would simply take you home and whip you raw for embarrassing them.” Vega !!wHt/wyh4M+t

Yes, no worries there, I promise!”
>Her smile turns into a downright smirk. >“You approached him, didn’t you?” >Memories of your first time licking his hard humanhood flash across your mind. >He was watching porn! >You were just doing what any good slave mare would! >Your blush must be answer enough, judging by her covering her mouth with a hoof to hide her amusement. >“Subliminal, Subliminal, Subliminal… Or, I guess I should call you Simple now. You really fell hard down the rabbit hole here, but I still think you can land on your hooves if you just talk to him. He’s been indulging you so far. There’s no reason to think you can’t speak up and at least open a dialogue. There are lines in any relationship, even one like this.” >This isn’t exactly a normal relationship, though. >You can’t just ask for a safe word when his word is law, and the collar around your neck undeniably marks you as HIS. >If that’s what he wants, though… >You don’t doubt that he would prefer you in a healthy mental state. >Even if it’s for his own reasons: keeping you working, not embarrassing him in public, etc. >The motivation doesn’t actually matter. >It’s still his will. >Isn’t his will your command? >And worse case, what? >If he’s displeased by you speaking up, you have no doubt he’ll teach you the error of your ways. >Putting you back in your place like any good master would! >You bite your lip at the idea of having your mouth cleaned out with soap for daring to speak to him that way. >Maybe being forced to sleep outside, tied to a post in the yard like a dog. >You’re absolutely sure he can come up with creative ways to humble you if he doesn’t like you standing up for yourself, and if he does… >Images of complex rope bondage suspending you from the ceiling flash across your mind. >Now’s not the time for that Simple! >“Normally, we’d explore your feelings a bit more, but normally, I also wouldn’t take on a colleague as a patient, to begin with.” >True, you aren’t best friends, but you do have an existing relationship. >“That said, we’ve still got quite a bit of time before they check back in. We can just catch up, or…” >Fausty glances up from her papers and actually looks a bit… flustered? “What?”
>“It’s none of my business, and this isn’t professional, but uhh… how is it?” “You mean like…?”
>Surely she doesn’t. >She breaks the tensions a bit with a nervous laugh and hides a fresh blush behind her clipboard. >“Doctor Andrews is a wonderful psychologist and a morally upstanding human. He sought me out specifically for this job, and to serve him in a strictly professional capacity.” >So he’s never touched her at all. >Ouch! >Ponies have been on earth for years! >That’s a long time for a poor mare! >“I’ve no complaints, of course, but I also hear a lot of things from mares coming through here and can’t help but wonder…” “If the rumors are true? Crazy stamina, hands, all that stuff?”
>You look the mare right in the eyes. “Abso-bucking-lutely.”
>After half an hour of telling poor Fausty about the magic of hands, the humans eventually reappear. >They ask you both how things have been going. Vega !!wHt/wyh4M+t

Disappointed? Indifferent? >As usual, you’ve got no idea without expressive pony ears to be your tell. >You stumble over your words after presenting the idea of maybe having a safeword for both of you when things get out of hand. “So uhh, yeah… I know that’s pretty weird, and maybe not how you want me to feel, so if not then I can try to - woah!”
>You weren’t expecting him to suddenly pick you up around your midsection! >He tucks you under one arm flank forward and heads from the kitchen where you were talking to the living room. >“I should have guessed that’s what all this was about, but everyone always acts like ponies are so innocent.” >He throws you over the back of the couch with your plot towards him and laughs. >“Like you’ve ever been innocent, though.” >You’re pretty sure you recognize the muted jingling of his belt buckle, but that can mean one of two things: >He’s going to beat you for being an insatiable whorse! >He’s going to rut you for being an insatiable whorse! >You can’t look back to find out, with the tight handful of mane he grabbed, but both options have about the same exciting effect on your body either way! >“And that includes when we’re out in public. “Yes, Master!”
>“And when I’m tired and don’t want to have to smack you just for a glass of tea.” “Yes, Master! Yes, Master!”
>It’s all you can say as he lays down the new house rules and fills your pony pussy at the same time! >“Good girl,” he says as he slows down his thrusting and reaches around you with his belt in one hand. >Your breath catches in your throat as he starts to bind your forehooves together. >So tight! >“If you’re good, I’ll show you some of the rope tricks a few of my old GFs liked, deal?” >!!! >“Yes, Master!” Vega !!wHt/wyh4M+t
>>36194933 Honestly, this isn't quite how I wanted this one to go, but I've spent too much time spinning my wheels on it as is. First of all, The last paragraph is only semi canon to tie things up for now. If I decide to come back to simple I'll probably redact it, or make it a daydream, or some silliness like that.
The whole idea of Simple was a pony whos into the whole >rape side of slavery way more than her master, and how that would play out. She'd keeps pushing because she likes the consequences, maybe starts doing more and more outrageous things eventually to the point it it gets dangerous, and the whole time they don't communicate because "slave". Fleshing out her Anon isn't quite working out in my head though. I also wanted to make Fausty more analystical / a serious psychologist, but the more I tried to write it the more I had to admit psychology just wasn't my thing. Still had fun with this, and may come back to it in the future, but I'll be putting in a pin in it for now and going back to swibbles scribbles. Miss my pouty purple pony.

>“And that includes when we’re out in public." It seems Anon needs a safeword *himself* in that situation, to say that he needs her to quit angling for attention and let him concentrate on keeping them both safe in the wide human world.

Does pony join you in celebrating Thanksgiving? It's not a their holiday, after all, but they live with you now and it is yours. But then again, a slave doesn't have very much to be thankful for - especially if you aren't a white-knight of a master. They might feel it's more taunting than helping... or they might feel it's a genuine attempt at outreach. What do?

Sweet Pigs of Guinea have an electric heat pad under this corner of their home pig pen. They’re pretty fluffy and more vulnerable to hot than cold, they don’t really use it much, but when they do hit the sauna they obviously enjoy it. They’re fun to snuggle after too, with their little paws and ears all roasty-toasty!
What special amenities might you offer your ponies? An equine wash rack with rubber flooring instead of an awkward human tub / shower? Beanbag chairs instead of jumping up to human seats? One of those powered brushes like pampered dairy cows enjoy (
https://youtube.com/watch?v=aAbG9vRmJtU )? Would such expensive and specialized comforts be reserved as a reward, or be generally available to members of your household?

>So I'm DiamondTiara, obviously I'm from a rich family >And it's my 13th birthday >every rich pony owns more ponies. AppleJack has a zebra, Twilight have Spike, I suppose Rarity will check to get one and technically our princesses have all kind of slaves in their court. >I am in the legal age to have my own slave! >my own pony! a pony my dad bought to me completely legally >no this is not illegal to have a pony as property here, in Equestria >in fact this is very well regulated as I'm reading the legal terms and conditions >> your pony must be fed, given a place to sleep, medical care if necessary and taken care of, and handled like anypony else >>your pony is a full time employee but needs at least 8 hours of rest, and four hours of recreation per day. >>your pony has the right to education, and emancipation in common agreement. >>a slave owner must not be unnecessary violent with the slave, and the slave owes respect to his/her owner. >So! This is Garin, or Garyn, a pony from an orphanage in Ponyland, the poorest country at the northeast border of Equestria, generally they get wrecked by Germaneigh so lots of them are being sold to Equestria and other countries. >He's a bit younger, so normally we will grow together, but not like she's my brother at all >For 1500 EQB he's mine. That's acted, I have my documents and property act. >I can even change his name. >And he looks happy about it. >Gary speaks Equestrian quite fluently. >Garin:"So how may I address you to, madame?" >"Call me Diamond, that will be fine" >Garin:"Diamond, I am thankful to be at your service!" >"Right, I guess I'm gonna show you the house, see, it's especially because my parents are always at work, and my mother always out, I'm alone most of the time. So here's the kitchen, the fridge, oven, sink, then you have the living room on the right, with a library on the back" >he's looking everywhere >"there's a fireplace, we have to make sure it keeps burning there's wood logs outside." ...

I never seen one! Pardon." >"My dad's previous work machine, I'll just have to find a wise use for it, perhaps start writing or programming. Next we have the bathroom, one at this floor, bathtub and everything needed, your room, and mine." >Gary's asking where he's sleeping. "My room?" >"Your room, I mean, you need one, here's your bed, sure it's not a double size like mine but I found some blankets and some toys for you, even drew ... You okay?" >Gary's looking embarrassed "I never had a room just for me." >"Well consider this is done now. But before my parents come back, hm, I think I should give you a good bath, a good cleanup. Just... don't take this as a critique but you can look good." >Gary:"Your *hm* Your desires are my orders, Diamond!" >"Don't be so strict with yourself, I'm your owner not your supreme leader. And I'm supposed to take care of you." >opens tap water, filling the bathtub with warm water >"do you mind if we both get in? I kind of also need one, so I can take care of your mane then you take care of mine, okay?" >he's looking all around, at the perfume bottles, smelling the soaps, I hope he's not gonna start thinking the toilet is some kind of throne >"Come in!" >Gary:"Oh.. Alright, I'm coming." >He's getting in the bathtub and already starts enjoying it, relaxing and comfy. >Gary:"are there any rules I should be aware of?" >"hm, apart the don't flee, don't steal and don't cause trouble, because apparently if you do anything bad, it will be my responsibility. nope not a lot of things." >get behind him with a sponge and start shampooing his mane >it's like he never got it done since a while >continue and proceeds to do the same with his tail. ...

Tomatoes, onions...eggs, carrots and celery," >"well take two dishes and let's get this done." >he's taking care of everything, not like I could have even allowed him anywhere else in the house in his previous state >he even changed of color, gained a more clear tone since. >evening is coming >we're resting on the corner of the fire >dad's giving me a phone call asking me is everything's okay >explaining how I'm training him and showed his room among other stuff >he's insisting about the security and safety of the house, locking every door as soon we're inside >it's snowing outside >brought some more wood from the reserve for the night, at the corner of the fireplace >and I'm decided of a few rules >"so at least the advantage, you don't even have to go to school, all of my textbooks here, everything is available to you. and you only. Everything else is strictly confidential, do you agree?" >Gary:"I understand and agree, Diamond." ...

She Ain't What She Used to Be
>>36146000 >Be mare >At open house celebration new foal with Roseluck amnd Crystal >Rose and foal are clear centers of attention so you're off to the side >You were hoping your coltfriend wouldn't end up too bored, but he's in a conversation with a unicorn stallion about music >The stallion in question is young and grew up here, but he's used the word retro a few times, so they speak a similar musical language >You'd like to think you know nothing about music, having not grown up exposed to much of it >But your adult life has changed that >First you were married to a former Equestrian music star >And while his stuff didn't exactly move you it was only because you had no prior experience with music >Both he and Rose were Equestrian born, and evidently breaking into song was a day to day thing in a magical world >Or if not a day to day thing certanly not uncommon >In this world that only happens in old movies and Broadway shows (both of which you find corny) >But that doesn't mean there isn't music everywhere here as well >Blasting from cars going by in the warm months >The DOM tic tok tic DOM tic tok tic of Reggaeton for example >Besame bebe como la primera vez... opening with a sample of Steve Miller's The Joker >Which you would never have known if your coltfriend hadn't pointed it out to you >And even in your own home since you're now living with that man who has accumulated countless milk crates full of records and racks of CD's >When you watch something on netflix it's on a computer because he has no dedicated screen in the living room >Instead there are two speakers on stands and a bunch of electronics and wires to feed them >So those precious records, CD's or even the important radio show can be heard in perfect fidelity >Your coltfriend and the stallion are talking about funk music, so he's about to bring up radio, you know it >Shit, your ears just turned to his voice saying the name Ernie Isley >You know the lecture he's about to start on She Ain't What She Used to Be
>>36238552 >Listening to Felix Hernandez do the Rhythm Review on WBGO out of Newark is a now Saturday ritual >And every time he plays the Isley Brothers your coltfriend tells you the same story >Here we go >"He played keyboards?," the poor stallion asks naively >"That was a guitar, if your talking about the massive solo on That Lady," your coltfriend replies >"I invisioned maybe some guy in a cape, or a big afro surrounded by synths," the stallion responds >"Yeah," your coltfriend replies, "Like George Duke? But he wasn't in that band. That's Ernie Isley on guitar!" >"So just a very talented bunch of brothers?" >"The story is better than that," your coltfriend winds up. "He wasn't even in the band when they first blew up!" >You know it, so you want to turn away and engage Forty-Two, who is also on the sidelines >But you can't resist listening along for a little longer just to see how the stallion reacts >"Imagine being an aspiring young guitar player from a musical family and your older brother already leads a successful band," your coltfriend begins >"Pretty sweet start," the stallion replies >"It gets better. The band hires a shit hot guitar player from the city who has to sleep over on mom's couch because the band rehearses in Jersey City" >He pauses for dramatic effect >"And that shit hot guitar player in your house a couple nights a week when you're at your most impressionable is none other than Jimi Fucking Hendrix!" >"No way!," the stallion replies >"So your goal becomes filling Hendrix's shoes in your brother's band. And you actually manage to accomplish it!" >"That's almost like a man getting his cutie mark," the stallion says breathlessly. "Practically gives me chills" >"Fuckin' ay right! He was so good they could put out pop hits that were fifty percent extended guitar solos and people just lapped it up!" >"But it doesn't SOUND like a guitar," the stallion replies She Ain't What She Used to Be
>>36238557 >"Like Hendrix he had pedals and shit. And he plays a Strat. The right set of hands can make that combination do anything!" >OK, enough. You've heard all this before and Forty-Two is just standing there with nopony to talk to >You approach the bodyguard "How have you been?"
>"Just fine, Ma'am" "Really?"
>"Yeah. It's interesting to be almost like part of a family, which is what this set up kind of makes things" "So you're emotionally involved with the assets?"
>"You know I tried not to be, but that ship sailed a while ago" "I guess losing your partner was hard, too"
>"Forty-Seven? We had a good time together, but he was something of a mixed blessing. You know how he is - the best intentions, but he could still drag you down if you got caught up in his shit" "Have you been in touch with him? I haven't," you say, feeling a little shame about it
>Then again he didn't leave you any contact info >"Yeah" "How's he doing?"
>"He didn't end up on the next assignment he would have preferred, but there's no doubt it's one that suits him" "So he has a purpose and some moments of happiness?"
>"I would definitely say that" "That's really the best you can hope for. And the same goes for you still?"
>"Absolutely, Ma'am. More now than ever, though how much longer this mission will last is a concern" "John still carries a torch for Rose. Crystal is one of his stars. The colt is the son of the pony who took his career from successful to big time..."

>"I hope you're right" "I'm not saying I am, but there's a good chance I could be. Ummm... I gotta go pee"
>"Down the hall, second door on the right" "Thank you"
>You head down the hall going toward the second door >But the first door is open, and as you pass you see it's a bedroom with three ponies inside >The colt, Glitter and the other mare whose name you forgot >Kinda funny she's the one trying to build some kind of digital brand and you can't remember her name! >The colt sees you in the hall and shouts, "Auntie! How have you been?" "Very well, thanks. How about you? Excited to be a big brother?"
>His face drops a little >"I WAS... but the reality now that she's here is a little bit of a let down" "How so?"
>"Well, she doesn't DO anything. She can't even talk. Was I that useless when I was little?" "Everypony is useless when they're just a foal. But before you know it she'll be showing her personality, just like you did"
>"Why does it take so long?" "It really doesn't. You went from foal to colt to young stallion in what seemed like no time"
>"It didn't seem like no time to ME" "Can we continue this in a minute? I've really got to pee"

He died in my fucking hooves!" >But you never did >Why are you thinking about that? >Because on the other side of that wall is a colt who looks like a younger version of him, minus the silly mustache >You miss him, but you can't complain >It hurts that he's gone but your new love is completely satisfying >You're sure the young mares on the other side of that wall wouldn't understand how you could go from living in a penthouse with the Sexiest Stallion Alive to... >Living in a modest apartment with an older man She Ain't What She Used to Be

>>36238577 "So how have you been?," you ask him upon entering
>"You know, chillin'. Hanging with my friends and enjoying the summer" "Same here except for working on the show as well"
>"School will start up soon, so I'll get back to being a productive member of society then" >You really should ask Glitter how she's doing "And you, Glitter? Any word on your...?"
>That's a hard question to ask >"My dad? They released him two nights ago. He's back with us" >You're about to say, "That's wonderful!," when she adds >"Well, most of him is..." >That doesn't sound good >"The colt whispers, "They gelded him" >You don't know what that word means, but it's obviously something terrible >You gasp >Glitter seems near tears >"I overheard him telling mom that they said there's already enough trash on the street and he wasn't going to be responsible for any more" >And now she's in tears "You poor thing"
>You offer a hug which she accepts >You also now have a guess as to what gelded might mean, and it's a pretty awful guess "Can they DO that? I mean legally?"
>"I guess it depends on what the courts say," the colt replies, "and they try to say as little as possible about anything resembling pony rights" "But if this is happening it ought to be exposed, because it isn't right! He's a free stallion"
>"Or an illegal immigrant who human rights don't apply to," the colt replies softly, "depending on your view" >He adds, "Don't tell mom and Miss Chrissy about it. Now it's all foal all the time around here, and we don't want to kill that mood" "I understand, but still..."
>"If Glitter and her family choose to go public you'll be among the first to know," he replies >Sounds like he's had this conversation before, probably with Little Miss Social Media standing on his other side >"In the meantime you can respect their privacy, right?," he concludes "Of course!"
She Ain't What She Used to Be
>>36238582 >You turn to Glitter "I'm here for you as a source of sympathy and comfort, or just somepony else to talk to"
>She nods and quietly says, "Thanks" "But if your family decides to go public we're also allies and a platform for you"
>"That will be mom and dad's decision. Right now as you can imagine they're still figuring out how to cope" "I'll give you my contact info anyways"
>"I can get it from him if I need it," the young mare replies "I'm so sorry for your family"
>"Be sorry for dad. He's really taking it hard" >Just the opposite actually, if gelded means what you think it does >You can't imagine what that would be like for a guy! >Their junk means so much to them "Well I should get back to the party. I left my coltfriend alone and he's the only man in the room"
>Glitter giggles a little at that >"It's funny you call him your coltfriend," she says "It's a long story that I'm not going to get into here. But yeah, I guess it does sound kinda funny"
>That long story would probably upset the young mares and would definitely embarrass the colt >You know better than to tell it to them >You give each to them a hug and head back to the living room >It is nice to see him with two mares at his side >You're sure that because they're free ponies that situation is going to get a lot more complicated that it has to be >It probably already is >But his father had two mares, why shouldn't he? >When you spot your coltfriend he's still talking to the same unicorn, with an empty beer in his hand >That means it's time to go >As you approach you hear him saying, "... was lifted straight out of black churches. There's some gospel that makes most rock sound like pussy shit" >It's definitely time to go "Sweetie?," you interrupt
>He turns his attention toward you "If you wanted to go on that date we should probably leave soon"

Is it possible to get insurance for a slave? Whats the payout if it runs away or something?
Anonymous
>>36246653 The ‘payout’ for the insured property is they get sold by the insurance company for a few pennies on the dollar to professional pony catchers. Those people (and their own ponies!) are very good at what they do and absolutely relentless at it. They also don’t like wasting time or money on the chase and are known to beat the value of both out of a ponies hide if they feel they’ve been trifled with. Afterwards the original owner gets first offer on the resale, but the insurance company stipulates it has to be at full cost: they don’t want to see an owner make a claim for one amount and buy back the same pony for less later, even if it’s in a damaged condition.

> Celestia, sitting on her haunches on the gravel, lifted up her foreleg to lay a hoof gently on his forearm. "Go," she said with a smile. > They were waiting at the landing area for airborne carriages when Star Bright came to find him. He was meeting up with Lilly Blossom, Aura and Snow Cover for a friendly lunch in the city and was wondering if Anonymous would like to join them. > It sounded like a good chance to catch up, not to mention see how the guard and the pegasus were doing. > The thought gave Anon a slight pause when he recognized it. Had he really changed this much in the years he'd spent in Canterlot? Before meeting Celestia, something like a lunch with friends would have seemed... frivolous. > Now it seemed downright pleasant. While he didn't know Snow Cover all that well, he considered Aura and her father, Storm Pop, good friends and wanted to make sure the mare was being treated right. > Star Bright was also a good friend and Blossom, despite not having known her that long, would always have a special place in his heart, Anon suspected. > He refocused his eyes on Celestia and smiled in thanks, but before he could say anything he caught sight of an approaching carriage. > Rather, carriages. Two of them, pulled by Celestia's gold-armored guards and accompanied by Luna's darker Night Watch. > He could see several humans on board, most of them white-faced. It gave Anon the tiniest tingle of satisfaction to know he wasn't the only one who didn't like flying in these pegasi-pulled things. "Looks like they're here. I'll greet them with you."

>>36248902 > Celestia shook her head and pushed at him with her hoof. "Go," she repeated. "I have this. Eli is keeping Callahan busy so at least I have a few hours..." > She didn't say it out loud, but Anonymous understood. Celestia wanted to make sure the prisoners' impression of Equestria wouldn't be forever tainted by what they'd experienced. > It had taken some arguing, but she'd gotten Callahan to agree that they at least deserved a good meal before being shipped to Earth. Eventually he even permitted her to feed the criminals, although they would enjoy their meal from the comfort of the Castle prison cells instead. "If you're sure. Okay, Bright, let's go."
> The young unicorn took another glance at the carriages, then turned and led Anonymous back into the Castle. As soon as they were out of eyesight form the door, the stallion slowed so they could walk side by side. > "Um, so we don't have a reservation, but I don't think we need one. I asked Mrs. Nutmeg and she said they aren't too full, usually. "Where are you taking us?"
> Bright smiled in eager anticipation. "It's that griffin place on Restaurant Row. I think it opened last year, right after Summer Solstice." > It didn't ring a bell, so Anon just shrugged. Wherever they went, the food would be good. It generally was. "Sounds good."
> "It's called 'Hoof and Claw'," Star Bright kept on explaining. "They employ both pony and griffin cooks. Um... I hear you can order, uh, m-meat." > This sounded more interesting, but Anon still shrugged. He'd gotten quite used to a mostly vegetarian diet with an occasional fish for variety. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248904 > He'd had steak on some occasions, when Celestia organized a picnic with important human dignitaries, but she always complained about the smell from his mouth and made him brush his teeth multiple times before kissing him. "Cool, but I'm in the mood for something different. We'll see when we get there."
> Star Bright relaxed a little. "Yeah. Sure. This way." > He led them to the guest rooms and stopped outside the closed door to Cadence's suite. His knock was so tentative that Anon thought no one heard it. > To his surprise, there came a high-pitched "Coming!" from inside, followed by hurrying hoofsteps. The door flew open and Blossom grinned nervously at her coltfriend. > For some reason Anon had been expecting her to dress up. It was a date, after all. Instead, the young mare looked just like she always did, her pink coat maybe just a shade darker because of a slight blush. > "Ready?" Star Bright asked, gaze firmly locked on Blossom. He appeared to be drinking her in with his eyes. > She glanced over at Anon and her smile widened. "Nonny!" she exclaimed and threw her hooves around the tall man's legs. > "Yeah, he'll come with us, um, if- if that's okay," Star Bright explained. > Blossom just nodded, dropped down to all four hooves, and brushed past the two males, paying special attention to rub her muzzle along the stallion's side. > Anon couldn't help but chuckle at the stunned, disbelieving look on his muzzle. "Where are we meeting the other two?" he asked to bring Bright out of his reverie.
> The unicorn gave a start, then turned and hurried after Blossom. "Oh! Yeah, they'll meet us at the restaurant. Follow me!" > ~~~~ AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248906 > The evening got off on a slightly awkward note, especially between Snow Cover and Anonymous. For a while it seemed the two would have absolutely nothing in common, now that the guard was off duty. > Luckily Aura noticed their predicament and reached her wing around the colt to tickle his other side. His head whipped around and the rest of the table tittered in amusement. > Once he understood how he had been fooled, Snow Cover stared at Aura and gave her a slightly hurt look. She shrugged it off and gave the mistreated colt a peck on his cheek. > "Have I ever told you I wouldn't have these without Anonymous?" she asked and wiggled the tips of her wings at his face. > "Oh?" Snow Cover exclaimed and stared at the man. "How so?" > Her ears turned down and the young mare sighed as she stared at the table top. "I got hurt. Bad. Freak downburst. Shattered nearly all bones in my wings." > Snow Cover's expression wilted and he reached out a hoof to lay on Aura's foreleg. "Ow. Yikes," he said lamely, not knowing how to even respond to something like that. > His face scrunched up and he grunted in surprise. "How come you haven't told me any of that before?" > It was Aura's turn to look downcast, but she took Snow Cover's hoof between both of hers and held it up to her face so she could nuzzle it. "I should have, but there's never been a good moment. It's not something I enjoy remembering, you know?" > Almost immediately Snow's face softened and he pulled the mare closer, thanks to her firm grip on his hoof. Once she was in range he touched his nose to hers. "It's okay. I understand if you don't wanna talk about it now." > Aura shook her head. "I'll tell you. I can't not after dropping something like that." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248910 > Anon cast a glance at the other two. Star Bright had heard the story from him already, though he seemed uneasy hearing it first-hoof, but Blossom looked absolutely devastated. Her hooves were up over her mouth and her eyes were already brimming with tears. "How dreadful!" she whispered. > "Yeah," Aura said, fiddling with the tablecloth. She gave Snow Cover a long look. "Doctors said I'd never fly again. That I'd be lucky if didn't lose my wings altogether." > Her coltfriend couldn't stand it anymore and lunged at the mare to hug her as tightly as he dared. He was taking special care with her wings now. > Aura nuzzled into him for a moment, the pulled away and smiled. "Anyway, Anon here got uncle Pop an interview with the human ambassador while I was still in the hospital and they transferred me to Earth." > She chuckled suddenly. "I was so high on painkillers I don't even remember the journey there. I must have gone through the portal, but I swear the first time I saw it was on the way back." "You said you didn't like Earth when you came back."
> "Not Earth as a while. Just the hospital there." Her entire body shuddered. "Ugh, I did *not* like that place. They stuck my wings full of metal pins. I had like five or six surgeries! I was either in pain or drugged out of my mind." > She lowered her voice and leaned closer to Snow Cover, meaning that next bit just for him. Unfortunately she spoke in a slightly too loud of a whisper: "A nurse had to help me use the bathroom. You do *not* want to know about that mess." > The next bit was more cheerful and Aura brightened up. "Anyway," she said in a normal tone, "even once they got all the pins and stitches out I wasn't sure my wings worked at all. They were just numb." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248912 > Everyone at the table winced at that, but Aura began to smile. "It worked, though. Not only were they able to save my wings, but I could fly again after some rehab. So I forgive them," she conclude magnanimously. > "Wow..." It was all Snow Cover was able to say. > The mare gently pushed him away and extended one wing as far as she could in their booth. > She ran a hoof along the limb, then grabbed her coltfriend's and held it against the leading edge. "Feel that? How it's thicker than you'd expect?" > Unfortunately Snow Cover was too engrossed by the fact that she was making him feel up her wings, something normally reserved for intimacy among pegasi. Luckily the lighting was dim and their booth was in a corner, so no peering eyes saw. > Noting that, the guard relaxed and really concentrated. "Yeah. Wow, I never noticed before." > His admission made Aura smile. She didn't want special treatment because of her injury and this was exactly what she liked to hear. "Well, you must have noticed I take extra time unfolding and folding them, right?" > Snow Cover lowered his gaze and his ears splayed out in slight embarrassment. "Y-Yeah, I did. I kinda wondered, but I thought it'd be rude to ask." > At this the mare lifted up an eyebrow and gave the guard one of her finest, sarcastic looks. Anonymous was proud that she'd learned from him so well. > "Really?" she asked in a flat voice. "You propose to a filly but you don't think it appropriate to ask her about her body?" > This really turned Snow Cover's blush knob up to eleven and for a while his pristine white coat nearly matched Blossom's pink. He didn't know where to put his face until Aura reached over with a hoof, turned his muzzle to face her, and planted a very passionate kiss right on his lips. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248914 > It made the rest of the table shuffle their feet and look around uncomfortably. > "They still hurt sometimes, but it's not so bad. My wings aren't as flexible as they used to be, but they work just fine, so I'm grateful." > Snow Cover nodded, lightly stunned by the unexpected kiss. "Yeah, m-me too." > After the mare turned back to the table, the guard gave Anonymous an appraising look and a nod, one which didn't escape Blossom's eye. > "Yeah, 'Nonny is the best!" she picked up from there, earning a round of chuckles. "But I wouldn't trade him for Starry!" she concluded. Now it was Star Bright's turn to color. > Following Aura's example, the young mare leaned over the table and lowered her voice to what she felt was a conspiratorial murmur. "Did you know Starry taught me how to do everything? I didn't know about, uh, shampoo and stuff. Or, or, plates and knives and forks and all that!" > She tried to pick up a spoon, but the delicate maneuver was causing her a few problems until she managed to tuck it in her wrist. > "See?" she said triumphantly and put it down. > Anonymous knew for a fact that the young mare preferred to eat with her muzzle in the bowl, but he didn't point that out. Star Bright was a unicorn and they liked their table manners almost to a fault. > The topic brought to mind Blossom's captivity and the conditions she had been forced to endure, which caused a symphony of drooping ears and wandering gazes around the table. No one wanted to bring it up, though. > Anon broke the silence by reaching over to ruffle her mane. "You're doing a good job, Blossom."
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248917 > She beamed at him, then remembered something else and looked at Aura and Snow Cover. She didn't know the guard very well, but Aura was one of her first real friends and it seemed that was enough for Blossom to take them both into her confidence. > "Oh, oh," she almost bounced on her seat. "Mom and Dad said I can go to school here in Canterlot, um, so I'll be able to see Starry every day! He's my coltfriend, you know?!" > Everyone laughed at her exuberance, except for the unicorn who sounded as if he had something stuck in his throat. When he finally managed to speak, he just croaked out: "I would have moved to Las Pegasus to be with you, Lily." > Aura shared a look with Snow Cover. "Wait, Lily? Your name is Lily?" she asked the younger mare. > Blossom shrugged a little. "I guess. I kinda forgot, but Mom and Dad reminded me." > The guard grinned back and gave the mare an appraising look. "It suits you. Nice to meet you, Lily Blossom." > He made a show of formally reaching across the table with a hoof, which Blossom took, and they shook before sitting back and bursting out laughing. > The young mare turned to her unicorn coltfriend. "Anyway, I know how your stars are important to you and I didn't want you to have to move to Las Pegasus. I know their- um... what was it again?" > She gave him a hopeless look with a pleading smile and Star Bright was only too happy to help her out: "Observatory?" > "Yeah, that! I know the one in Las Pegasus isn't as good. 'Nonny told me. So I wanted to do something nice and move here, so you could keep using the one here." > The act of kindness was making Star Bright's eyes water heavily and he gathered up the young mare in a hug. "You're just the best, Lily," he whispered to her, but it was loud enough so they all could hear. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248922 > Aura was suddenly embracing Snow Cover as well as she watched the touching moment. "Awww," she couldn't help saying. > The couples enjoyed their closeness in silence for a bit while Anon sat back and thought about Celestia. He determined to do something nice for her, maybe get her a bouquet of flowers. Or a pastry. > Or maybe he could go ask around that sweets shop if there was a way to combine the two. Since ponies ate flowers they must have thought about it before, right? > Their meal arrived, or at least the first course. It was mushroom soup, beautifully presented with a sprig of parsley and a smattering of sour cream. > For a short while there was just the sound of slurping and tinkling cutlery as the four sated the hunger which had gone unnoticed during their discussion. > Once they were all done, Aura looked around the table, then caught Snow Cover's eye. She was giving him a questioning look which obviously held some significance to the guard. He frowned for a moment, but then gave her a nod. > Anonymous happened to catch the exchange and wondered what was going on between the two. > "So, big news time?" Aura proclaimed, gathering everyone's attention on her. She reached out her hoof and Snow Cover grasped it with his wrist for some silent support. > "You're probably wondering why we're getting married this soon..." > Anon had been, but not particularly. Equestria was a lot friendlier place and the ponies were more open about their feelings. Love at first sight was commonplace. "A little," he admitted in the end.
> Star Bright gave nod to show agreement and Blossom looked blank. > "Well," Aura went on and took a deep breath to prepare herself. Her free hoof went to her belly and she gave the group a nervous grin. "It's, uh, 'cause we're- we're expecting." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248928 > The unicorn gave a slight gasp and Anon blinked in surprise. Both ponies wilted a little under the combined stares and they both had a blush on their muzzles, but Aura was smiling happily. > She cleared her throat and went on: "It just kinda- happened. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention, um, to- to the date." She realized how that might sound and hurriedly tried to explain. "B-But, we're happy even if it wasn't exactly, y'know, planned." > The mare looked at her coltfriend and her smile grew. "I knew I loved Snow almost from the start. And I've always wanted foals, so this... kinda worked out." > She leaned forward and so did Snow Cover, so they could share a quick nuzzle. > In the ensuing silence Blossom asked in a loud whisper: "What does that mean?" > Star Bright coughed and spluttered, but luckily Aura had things in hoof. She caught Blossom's eye. "It means I'm going to have a foal in... about ten months, sweetie." > The sudden realization made Blossom's eyes go wide and she took a long gasp. "Really?! That's so cool!" "Congratulations, you two," Anonymous said.
> "Yeah, congratulations," Star Bright added. > Blossom had already slipped out of her seat and hurried around the table, bumping it in her rush to get to Aura. She practically jumped in the older mare's forelegs and the two nuzzled. > "I'm so happy for you!" Blossom squeaked. "Someday I'll have a foal too and then they can be best friends!" > The proclamation just made Star Bright's coughing fit worse, which made Snow Cover laugh openly. Aura took it all in stride. > "Sure you will," the pegasus said with a smile. "Just make sure both you and your coltfriend are okay with the idea. Oh, and maybe give it some time, right? At least finish school first." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36248933 > Blossom nodded to all that in a silent promise, before rushing back to grab the startled unicorn in her hug. "You hear that, Starry? Someday we'll have a foal, okay?" > To his credit, the colt rallied magnificently and returned Blossom's nuzzle. "Yeah. Some day, when we're both ready." > He got a crushing hug and tiny kisses peppered all over his face as a reward while the rest of them watched in bemusement. > The waiter came to pick up the dishes and bring their main course, paying no attention to the couple which was practically making out on the bench. > Hopefully the food would distract Blossom from trying to make a foal right there in the restaurant. > Anon turned to his own dish. He'd gotten an eggplant casserole on Aura's recommendation and it looked like the mare hadn't led him astray. > Before digging in, however, he lifted up his glass of wine and made a toast. "To the happy couple and their new family."
> After a bit of an explanation from Star Bright, Blossom also had her glass and they clinked them all together. In the young mare's case it was grape juice instead of wine, but the gesture still counted. > Anon smiled a little to himself. Celestia would find this bit of gossip as juicy as the best of cakes. He was looking forward to her excitement. > There was just one thing he had to do before that. "Uh, Aura? Is it okay if I mention this to the Princess?"
> She glanced at Snow Cover, who turned a nice shade of pink once more, but then gave her a hesitant nod. > The pegasus smiled and her hoof went to rest on her belly again. "Sure. It's gonna be public pretty soon anyway. Wedding's next month and we're gonna announce soon after. Of course you're all invited. We'd be honored if the Princess attended!" >>36248791 >>36246107 >>36245077 Yeah, I've done some slacking over weekends after a very intense training period at work. Did managed to write a bit more and I think the finish line is within sights.
After that, I've been working a lot on the Flutterbutter story (there's already a lot more than I've put on the paste). I'll start posting that, maybe two times a week until I catch up to where I am, hopefully finish posting just as I finish the story.
After that... who knows?

>Be Windy Whistles. >It’s been just over a year since the young master’s mother passed. >And only seven moons since you became his slave. >Slave feels like a strong word for your situation; you willingly crossed through the portal when news broke that Rainbow’s battalion didn’t return from Earth. >Without your daughter, the light of your life, Cloudsdale - Equestria even - just didn’t feel like home any more. Every moment of being in your house full of Rainbow Dash memorabilia was an agonizing reminder of what you had lost, the ghosts of once-pleasant memories lurking behind every corner to shock you into a deeper grief. >The double-punch to the gut of losing Bow at the same time meant that you had lost not only your precious family, but your entire support system for dealing with this kind of wrenching grief. >You were alone. >Completely. >And so you couldn’t stay in Equestria. >When you crossed through the portal you had packed your saddlebags lightly, choosing to bring nothing but a warm sweater and your favorite picture of your family. Inside the frame your husband lifts you and your baby daughter into the air as you laugh, heads thrown back in the bliss of feeling safe and loved. >A reminder of better times. >Just because you couldn’t stay in Equestria didn’t mean you wanted to completely forget what you had built there. >But you’re in a new part of your life here on Earth and you’re working on how to best fill this new role. >In all honesty the repetitive daily motions of being a housemaid are a good way to keep you sane; it keeps you moving, keeps you busy, prevents you from slowing down and focusing on what you don’t have anymore. >You’ve also taken measures to make sure that you focus on what you do have rather than what you’ve lost. >Every morning you wake up to your 7am alarm and trot downstairs to set a kettle of water on the stove for coffee. >Coffee.

>>36265356 >The beverage was always available to you in Equestria, but you never took to it like you do here. I am healthy. I am comfortable.’ >Just basic stuff, but you know that other ponies have it harder than you so you make a point of listing those first. >Then you can start getting a bit more elaborate. >‘The sun is shining and it’s nice and warm on my muzzle.’ >‘I showered today and I love feeling clean.’ >‘The neighbor’s pony brought over fresh eggs from their chickens and they’ll make a delicious breakfast.’ >You stream of consciousness list everything you can think of until the kettle whistles and you pour the boiling water into the french press on the countertop, the kitchen filling with the sharp scent of freshly-made coffee. >You go over the list again, take a deep calming breath, and exhale, ready to start your day with a smile and a little bit of positivity. >And a cup of coffee, of course. Or two! >The young master will continue sleeping for several more hours and while you wait for him to get up you drink your coffee and start puttering around the house, taking care of whatever needs doing. Usually it’s taking stock of what’s in the fridge and planning out meals for the upcoming week; making a grocery list; putting away dishes from the dishwasher; throwing in some laundry; watering the plants. >The plants were extras you tacked on to various grocery orders to try and make the apartment feel more alive. You’re pretty pleased with the results. >Maybe your cutie mark should have been in gardening! >By the time your master finally gets up the first pot of coffee has always gone cold and you rush to put the kettle on again so he can have fresh. >That first sip of coffee is one of the few times in a day that he allows a smile to grace his face, so you’ve learned to savor that increasingly rare glimpse of his happiness. >This morning he’s slept in until 2pm and you cast a sideways glance out the window at the sun already starting to lower itself into the western part of the sky. Only about 2 hours left of daylight if you’re using the past couple of weeks as an accurate measurement. >Sunlight makes everypony feel better and your master could certainly use more of it. >You aren’t sure how to approach him about it, though. >“Morning Windy.” “Morning, Sir!”
>You grab one of the thick ceramic mugs from the cupboard and fill it to the brim with steaming coffee before trotting it over to his eager, awaiting hands. >He clutches the cup as if it were a sacred relic and takes a deep sip, (probably burning his mouth in the process, he didn’t even let it cool!) eyes closing as he soaks in the smell of his morning caffeine. >“Mm.” >You offer him the same question that you pose every day, resting a hoof gently on his arm. “How are you feeling?”

Can I make you a fried egg with toast?”

Every little bit helps, you’re sure. >As you’re frying up the golden-yolked eggs, you decide that you should try to get your master out of the house. “Say Sir, can we go for a walk after breakfast? My legs could sure use a good stretch after the rainy day we had yesterday.”

It feels like a betrayal to your past, your family. >The sudden weight of the collar around your neck punctuates the thought that you were wrong about feeling at home. >You shake your head to clear away those confusing thoughts and focus on the present instead. You have a young man who needs breakfast! >With a smile you slip him a plate of over easy eggs and buttered toast and you’re given a rewarding pat on the head - no eye contact, though. >“Thanks, Windy.” “Of course, Sir!”

You know how much something like making his morning coffee or doing his laundry means to him. >It’s been an adjustment for sure. >So now you can walk in a comfortable silence - save for the clink of the leash on your collar - together and admire the beautiful scenery made up of gently falling leaves in scarlet and gold. >Autumn is truly beautiful. “You know, back in Equestria the leaves needed a little help coming off the trees.”

Horseapples, you were too pushy! >You scramble to backtrack. “M-maybe just a trot then? Not like a real race. And I promise I’ll go easy on you! I won’t even pull on the leash.”
>A pained expression crosses his face and he stops in his tracks, causing you to tug at the leash unintentionally. “What’s up?”
>“God Windy, why are you so-” >He struggles to form the rest of his sentence. >“Why are you like this?” >Oh Celestia, now you’ve done it. >You flatten your ears in shame, biting your lip as if you could suck all your words back into your mouth to prevent them from hurting him. “I’m sorry! I didn’t mean to-”
>“Just stop. Stop talking.” >He kneels and swiftly unclips the leash from your collar before turning his back on you, hands trembling. >“Go.” >... >He pushes you away. >“Just because I bought you doesn’t mean that you should belong to me; I can’t do anything for you. I thought getting something to care for would make me feel better, but I don’t! I’m still just a useless piece of shit with nothing to contribute to society who needs his pony to cook his meals or else he just won’t eat. I’m holding you back from being happy, Windy. So get out of here and stop making me feel even fucking worse about myself.” >The words spill from his mouth like a river that’s been dammed up for too long and explodes through the weakened barrier, crushing you under the weight of their flood. >You need to be careful with how you word your response and try to hold back your hurt. >You stand tall and take a deep breath. “Sir, with all due respect, you don’t know how I feel. And you won’t really know unless you ask me or I tell you first. Trust me to tell you how I feel. I promise I will, always.”
>You pause, swallowing hard. You hope you’re balancing delicacy with truthfulness here. “By making assumptions about how I feel you’re only justifying your own miserable narrative and hurting yourself more.”
>Your tone softens and you approach him again, leaning your cheek against his thigh. “I’ll admit that I’m not ‘happy,’ But it isn’t because I feel stifled by you; I miss my family. I miss how my life used to be and what I thought my future would look like.”

That was… Unfair of me.” >He fidgets with the leash in his hands before stuffing it messily into his pants pocket. >“Should I-” >He trails off, still processing everything you said. “I don’t need the leash, Sir, but that’s up to you.”
>A responding shrug. The leash stays in his pocket untouched. >You walk home together in slightly awkward silence, both wrapped up in your own thoughts. >It’s even colder than before and you notice from the corner of your eye that your master shivers, wincing against the chilly breeze. >Your heart melts and you slip a feather under your scarf, unraveling it from around your warm neck and offering it up in your wing to the young man. “This might help.”
>He shakes his head and continues onwards, which elicits a giggle from you. “What, too cool to stay warm?”
>He rolls his eyes and accepts the scarf. >“Don’t need to tell me twice.” >Wrapping the pony-sized scarf around his neck, he sighs in contentment from your residual warmth. >“Thanks.” “No problem - my sweater is nice and toasty, so don’t worry about me!”
>He almost smiles and instead of grasping at the chance to keep him smiling you leave him be, happy just to see that faint grin. >“Sorry. Again.” “It’s okay, Sir. Things will be okay. I promise.”

>>36185394 >Kathy wrested her focus from the sky. >”What... how? How's an eclipse going to help me?” >Celestia floated another cookie out of the packet and took a crunchy bite. >She was in no rush to chew or swallow. “Mmh. I'm just giving an example of the magnitude of the forces you're playing with. It's up to you to figure out how to make use of it.”
>That earned her a confused glare as she munched on another piece of her cookie. “Though, for now, I suggest you go outside and watch it. Regardless of what happens, you'll never see another one that's as long.”
>It wasn't strictly true: there would be another, even longer one, in about seven thousand years – obviously, Kathy wouldn't live to see it. “I'll go ask Luna if she wants to watch it too.”
>She popped what little remained of her treat into her mouth. >Kathy stared at the darkened sun, patted her pockets, looked down at her hands, then up at the sky again. >”Uh, sure...” >”Is okay. No worr-y.” >Luna's voice carried into the corridor. >”Will be fine.” >A set of footsteps followed behind Celestia just as she pulled open the door to her room. >The young man stood at the foot of Luna's bed, with her rear hoof in his hand, and twitched at the sudden sound. >Luna's focus snapped to her elder sister. >”Sis-ee.” >Her voice was deadpan. >”Yoo... rr-oosh. No 'ood.” >Celestia stood at the door, only stepping to the side to let Kathy in. “I had to. We're running out of time.”
>Luna shot her a sharp glare as the corners of her mouth twitched. >”F-iin. Yo ss-oolv.” >She pursed her lips and let out a 'hmph'. >Celestia batted her eyelashes as she glanced down at her own hooves. >But... She...? “What do you mean? Was there something you wanted to do yourself?”
>”We taa-k. Latee-r. At night.” Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36270380 >”Sooo... What's going on? It just went dark all of a sudden.” >The young man's voice, of a higher pitch than usual, broke the short silence. >Kathy, who'd managed to dig out her phone and poked at its screen, realized Celestia had tread to Luna and had no intention of answering. >”An eclipse. And yes, I know: there wasn't one scheduled and it wasn't even new moon.” >The woman threw a glance at the pony sisters. >”If she's to be believed – and I don't see why we wouldn't – your former boss is trifling with something that really should be left alone and will tidally lock the planet with the sun or something if he isn't stopped.” >He looked at the hoof in his hand for a second and bit his lip. >”How do we stop it, then?” >”I don't know, Juan! I don't know!” >Both Luna's and Celestia's ears perked up and swiveled towards the sudden shout. >Kathy glanced down at her phone and scanned its screen. >”Though, I guess we can start by going outside to watch. Then I guess I'll try calling some people to ask if they know how.” >Luna's hoof fell onto the mattress with a soft whump as Juan let go of it. >”What should I do? How can I help?” >”Well, I...” >She lifted her hand to rub the back of her neck. >”I think the best you can do is keep doing what you were doing and help her.” >Celestia ignored the humans' babbling and hand waving. >She leaned closer to Luna and nuzzled the side of her muzzle. “Would you like to go out and watch?”
>Luna returned the favor, but softer and slower. >”Yoo no mii-nd?” >The elder sister's lips curled into a warm smile. “Of course I don't mind. Here, hold on. I'll do it the fast way.”
>Her hoof snaked its way under the covers, found and took hold of one of Luna's. >Celestia squeezed her eyelids shut and focused her mind. >Magic gathered in her. >Crack! >Flash! >Her hooves suddenly touched pavement and a gentle breeze tickled her barrel. Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36270383 >A sudden wave of nausea and dizziness assaulted her. “Bwehoa!”
>She staggered backwards and bumped into something soft. >”The hell was that?” >Anon's voice. >A warm hands landed on her shoulder and held her against him. >It was darker outside than it'd been inside with the light on. >Luna had a touch of worry on her face as she peered over her bed's railing. >”You okay there? Want to lay down?” >Anon squeezed her between his arm and side. “Yeah, yeah...”
>The world stabilized and the churning in her stomach settled. “I'm fine. I just forgot I'm limited in this world and tried to move too much at once.”
>He let go of her, but kept his arm close for a second. >”Well in that case, would you mind explaining what the fuck is going on? You just appeared out of thin air while there's an ongoing solar eclipse when it's impossible for one to happen.” >His voice wavered, like he wasn't sure how to feel. “Relax.”
>Celestia stroked the side of his thigh. >It was as tense as a leaf spring. “It was just a simple teleportation spell and the eclipse is a gentle reminder to your rulers about the conditions in out surrender treaty. It'll end in about 20 minutes.”
>She received a long look full of confusion from Anon. >His leg twitched, but he didn't move. >”Well, okay then.” >Air hissed through his nose as he drew a deep breath. >”What a-” >Ting-a-ling! >Three pairs of eyes focused on the front door. >Kathy held it open behind her for Juan. >”You could've told us what you're about to do instead of just vanishing all of a sudden.” >She still had her phone in her hand and raised it to point its camera at the sky. >”Though, after your first surprise, I should've expected something out of the ordinary.” >Her fingers tapped the screen for a bit before she shook her head. >”Nope, too dark. You don't happen to have a proper camera and a tripod, do you? Actually, never mind, I should be calling people instead of trying to get pretty pictures.” Mirta !hda3cgeEM2
>>36270385 >Kathy was on the phone behind a corner while everyone else stood in the front yard to watch the eclipse. >Celestia left Luna's bedside, padded next to Anon and nudged his arm. “There was something you wanted to say earlier.”
>She kept her voice low. “I got the feeling it was something important.”
>Anon glanced at her and, after a bit of a pause, stroked her neck and shoulder. >His soft touch made Celestia let out a satisfied hum. >”I was about to ask if there's anything you can't do. Now I'm not sure if I even want to know.” >She inched closer and leaned against his side to enjoy the warmth. “I can do a lot, true. I prefer to teach others how to solve their problems rather than solving those problems myself, though.”
>The hand inched up towards her head. >”Is that what all this is about? Teaching... us? to solve these kinds of problems?” >He did a sweeping motion towards the darkened sun with his free hand. “Yes and no. It's true that I could find the culprit and take care of him myself, but doing so would land me neck deep in trouble. It's not an option now that I have somepony to take care of.”
>Anon rolled his eyes as his fingers buried themselves deep in Celestia's mane. >”You're the weirdest thing I've ever seen.” >His chest was very warm under the rough cloth of his overalls as she rested her head against it. >She noticed Luna watching them. >The younger sister had a blank look on her face. >>36248935 > Anonymous was returning to the palace rather later than he'd expected with Star Bright and Lily Blossom in tow. After the lunch Aura had insisted they went to her place to celebrate with a cake and no one had the heart to say no to Blossom. > In truth, they did have things to celebrate and Anon was sure to have Aura wrap up a large piece to appease Celestia when he came back late. > She'd probably been kept busy by the arrivals from the second portal and didn't even notice him gone. It wasn't as if he was especially qualified to deal with traumatized ponies and humans. > "What in the..." Bright muttered, prompting Anonymous to look over at what the stallion had seen. His own mouth fell open at the sight. > A group of guards were escorting one of the nobleponies to the castle. That in itself was only slightly unusual, but the unicorn's formal dress was torn in several places, her mane was messed up and there was a large bruise blackening her eye. > The first conclusion Anon jumped to was that the mare had been attacked and the guards were there to protect her, but that didn't feel quite right. The noblepony was glaring pure murder at her escort and as Anon watched, one of them smacked her on the rump with a spear to keep her moving. "Huh?"
> "The ring, Anon! She's got a ring on her horn!" Star Bright pointed out. > Anon saw it was true. It was a small, silver band, not entirely fitting the rest of the unicorn's wardrobe, but a piece of jewelry on the well-to-do didn't seem that out of place. > He was about to point that it was a small detail in contrast to the other anomalies, but Star Bright went on: "It's a magic suppression ring, Anon! I t-think she's a prisoner!" "What? Isn't she the richest mare in Canterlot or something?"
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275761 > His unicorn friend swallowed and nodded. "Y-Yeah," he confirmed. "That's Duchess Opulence herself! She looks like she's been in a fight." > Something extremely unusual was going on and Anon saw that other ponies had noticed too. A large gathering seemed to have followed the guards, but they kept their distance. > Here and there he could hear murmuring and more than one pony pointed with a hoof. "I think I better go tell the Princess," Anon decided. "You take Blossom to her room." He held out the package with cake out to the unicorn. "Keep this safe."
> He barely waited for Star Bright's nod before hurrying after the little procession to the main Castle gate. Before he'd gone three steps Anon turned around as he thought of something else. "You better stay with her. I don't like this."
> "Yeah, of course," the unicorn said and nuzzled Lily to get her attention. She allowed him to turn her aside and lead her to one of the side entrances. > That taken care of, Anon broke into a brisk walk until he reached the gate guards. He gave Opulence's procession a wide berth, but the mare noticed and glared distilled hatred at him. "Do- uh, do you know where I can find Princess Celestia?"
> Luckily the guards prodded the irate unicorn again and took her down a side passage and out of sight. Anon looked back to the guard at the gate. > The navy-blue-coated pegasus in the customary golden armor inclined his head. "Sure thing, Anonymous. She should still be in Court for another thirty minutes, although I'd hurry if I were you." "Why? What do you know about all this?"
> The guard - Glory Tail, Anon remembered his name was - glanced at his partner at the gate. He got a nod of approval and beckoned Anon with a hoof to come closer. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275764 > "The Princess was the one who ordered the arrest of Opulence Chattel. No doubt she'll want to see her immediately." > That made even less sense. "Thanks."
> He'd almost forgotten that basic nicety before walking off in the direction of the Grand Hall. After a few steps Anon broke into a run. >... "Hold on, wait!"
> Anonymous caught up with Celestia, who slowed down at his shout. Fire Fly was by her side along with one of her clerk ponies, but whatever they'd been discussing was successfully interrupted. "Why did you have Opulence arrested?" Anon demanded.
> There was a momentary grimace on Celestia's face at his brash proclamation, but it smoothed over and she seemed to sag a little. "I suppose everypony will know before long. Raven, handle things until I am done." > The clerk pony bowed, nearly making her spectacles fall from her nose, before trotting away and leaving the three alone. Once they were alone, Celestia resumed walking. "Come with me," she said, needlessly. > Anon was about to repeat his question, but the Princess beat him to it. "I had Opulence arrested, Anonymous, because I have proof that she is the leader of the trafficking ring." > An incredulous gasp escaped Anon's mouth and he almost stumbled. "The hell? How does that work? What evidence?"
> "Captain?" Celestia prompted, directing the guard to field that particular question. He inclined his head and transferred his gaze to Anon. > "Princess Luna's escort brought the human and pony prisoners from the second portal today," he said, mostly to establish a reference rather than to inform, since Anonymous already knew. "We interrogated the ponies who'd been working with the human slavers and... well..." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275770 > Luckily Celestia finished what Fire Fly could not. "Opulence was in charge here in Equestria. Silvermane was just a pawn, it seems. Well, perhaps 'in charge' is too strong a word." "What do you mean?"
> "You know that the Chattels used to be one of the wealthiest families in Equestria, right?" "Used to?!"
> Celestia's mouth quirked up in a smile. "The recent generations have been somewhat... frivolous with their bits. Opulence inherited a title, a wagon-load of pride and an empty bank vault. Unfortunately she was not ready to give up the lavish lifestyle. She certainly was not ready for anypony to know she was broke." > Anonymous could imagine where the story was leading to and skipped ahead. "So they paid her?"
> "That was how it began, yes," Celestia replied, looking rather pleased at his deduction. "There is more to it, though. I believe Opulence severely despises all humans. That was a part of it as well. Whatever her mental state, it made it possible for certain... agents to approach her and begin the whole sorry enterprise." "When was this?"
> Celestia paused with a hoof in air and her companions stopped beside her. After a few seconds she began to walk again. "Within the past three years, I believe." "Then what about Blossom?"
> "That is unrelated, I am sorry to say. Aside from the fact that Opulence's group purchased slaves from Griffinstone to help kickstart their operation." > They walked a few steps in silence before Fire Fly raised up his next question: "Princess, you said Opulence hates humans. Why would she work with them?" > Celestia nodded in approval, but didn't answer until they were through the guarded door to the dungeons. There she stopped to face them both while a couple of prison guards saluted the Captain. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275774 > "The reason, I believe, is two-fold: On the one hoof, this enterprise provided Opulence with much-needed income. I suspect Raven will find the Chattel family indebted with all Canterlot banks. On the second hoof, bringing humans into Equestria and making them work served as an outlet for Opulence's hatred of humans." "Why does she hate humans?"
> This time Celestia shook her head. "I do not have all the answers yet. It is something I hope to find out. It was she who got Twinkleshine to attempt to discredit you, and also she who ordered your foal-napping. The prisoners from the Portal confirmed as much." > Anon didn't know what else to say to all that. He'd been convinced that Silvermane and his family had been behind the whole thing and that the matter had been concluded when they were put in prison. > To suddenly learn there was a kingpin, or at least a pony version of one, was quite unsettling. "But we're sure she's the one behind all of this, right? There won't be another pony popping up as the mastermind in a couple of weeks?" Anon asked in a dry tone.
> Celestia smiled and shook out her mane, mostly to try her amusement. "I do not think so. Opulence worked directly with the human slavery ring on the other side of that portal. I think that is where the ideas came from. The real leaders are there, and they are Commander Callahan's problem. He and Luna already know of our findings." > It was a chance for a change of topic, so Anon took it. "Luna came back then?"
> "Yes, but now is not the time, Anonymous," Celestia said and stepped closer so she could brush her muzzle against his cheek. He distinctly heard the rasp and realized he needed a shave. "Go and have dinner, I will join you when I am done with Opulence." AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275781 > For a moment Anon could have sworn Celestia's eyes narrowed in anger, but she smoothed her expression before he could be sure. The Princess was understandably upset, especially considering the noblemare's position and title. It cast a bad light on Equestria and on the ruling Sisters. > Perhaps if he lightened her mood a little... "Okay, don't do anything drastic. Oh, Aura sent over some cake and an invitation to her wedding."
> This was unexpected enough to make the Princess blink in confusion. She opened her mouth to ask, but shook her head and forced the look of steely determination back on her face. > "It sounds as if you have a story to tell me as well. I will hurry, my love." > She turned her head to one side in invitation and Anon placed a quick kiss on her cheek. "See you soon."
> "And you." > ~~~~ > A freshly-shaven Anonymous was catching up on some classical Equestrian literature when there came a quiet knock on the door. "Come in!"
> Glory Tail poked his head in, but without his customary helmet. "I'm going off duty," he said by way of explanation, "but the Princess sent me to ask you to join her in the dining room." "Oh. Thanks. Have a good night."
> The pegasus flashed him a smile. "You too, sir," he said before vanishing from the door. He left it ajar, expecting Anon to leave soon, but it was a few minutes later, after he'd gone in the bathroom and made sure he was still presentable, that Anonymous finally emerged out of the suite and set off for the room Glory Tail had mentioned. > The few members of staff he met along the way either ignored him, used to his presence by now, or acknowledged him with nods or waves. Pretty soon Anon joined the Princess in the dining room and stopped in the door. "What is all this?"
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275784 > The table was laid and there was a rich spread of food on it. A basket of what looked like fresh bread, straight from the oven was still steaming. There were cheese platters, several jars of pickled vegetables, multitudes of dessert, a bunch of varied flowers, and Celestia was busying herself at the stove where she was apparently preparing something complicated. > She glanced back, but turned her attention to the pot she was stirring. "Just dinner. We have not had a hoof-cooked dinner in too long, Anonymous." "This is just for us two?"
> The stirring paused for a moment and the Princess glanced over her shoulder at the table again. She gave him a somewhat guilty grin and prompted: "I hope you are very hungry?" > Before Anon could come up with a meaningful response she decided her latest project was done and lifted up the pot in her magic. "Mushroom soup," she explained as she laid it carefully in the middle. "Celly, what's really going on?" Anon asked as he sat down.
> It might have been excessive, but the dinner looked delicious nevertheless. He took a piping hot piece of bread and availed himself of a few selections from the cheese platter. > Celestia paused only to remove her apron before taking her own seat across the table. "Sometimes cooking helps me think. Be glad I was not stress-baking." > Anon glanced at the bounty before him and raised an eyebrow. "Lots on your mind?"
> That was an understatement and the mare sighed and lowered her ears. "I keep trying to see the angles we have missed, Anonymous. Were it not for the ponies Luna captured we would never have suspected Opulence. I worry there are others." > It was curious how her opinion had shifted from earlier that afternoon, Anon mused. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275789 "If there are, you'll root them out. You're playing the long game, remember that."
> Aside from a very brief, grateful smile, Celestia didn't acknowledge Anon's words. Instead she leaned her head to one side and raised her voice to her typical 'pleading' tone. "Do you think Miriam Adams would agree to sit in on this trial? I would really value her opinion." > Another unexpected question, but the answer was obvious. "Write her a letter and ask for her help. If anything, it's a sign of trust."
> "You are correct, as always. I will do that first thing in the morning. Equestria has not had a slavery-related court case yet and Miriam has first-hoof experience." > The trial meant that the ponies in Canterlot dungeons would have a chance to defend themselves. It wasn't a prospect Anonymous really liked, especially considering that they were rich and influential and well-able to afford extremely good attorneys, but it was the proper thing to do. "So you'll put Silvermane and Opulence on trial?"
> Celestia nodded. "Them and some of the higher-ups Luna captured. I will let some underlings go with only community service." At his strange look she explained: "Those were the terms of the bargain of them revealing who their boss was. I will hold to the agreement." "Okay, good."
> "Meanwhile, Luna will cleanse the corruption on Earth and do what she can to help Callahan capture the human ringleaders. Provided they can even be caught with all the warning they have had." > Considering where in the world the other end of the portal was located, Anon had his doubts. He didn't want to bring the Princess down, however. "Luna is resourceful and Callahan is particularly single-minded. I wouldn't doubt in their ability. Who knows, they may even become friends in time."
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275793 > Celestia laughed softly at whatever image her imagination threw up. "I would pay to hear that story." > They shared a chuckle and then Celestia levitated over two bowls and filled them up. As it landed in front of Anonymous she also floated over a spoon, right into his waiting hand. "Oh, before I forget: Star Bright has a piece of Aura's cake for you. You might send for it before Blossom gets at it. It's only a matter of time."
> This made Celestia remember Anon's earlier remark and her eyes widened together with her smile. "I almost forgot! You said something about a wedding! Aura and Snow Cover, was it not?" "Yeah. Apparently he knocked her up and they've decided to get married."
> His blunt way of putting it made the Princess tsk a few times. "You might have said it a bit more romantically, Anonymous. Of course a foal on the way is a joy for most mares, even if the circumstances are not... ideal." "So, you'll attend?"
> Celestia screwed up her face in thought. "I would like to, but that would make her wedding a wholly public affair. I am not sure I wish to drop all that on her back." > It was a conundrum, yes. Anon knew Celestia wasn't wrong. As soon as word came out that she was attending a 'common' wedding, pony-paparazzi would descend on the event and very likely ruin the whole day for Aura and Snow Cover. > The only was to prevent that would be to enlist a bunch of guards to keep the crowds at bay, but that would only heighten the fever and produce accusations of preferential treatment. > If only they could keep it a secret. "Wait!" Anon gasped at the devious idea. "Just go in your Supple Branch disguise, no? That way you're just another pony, no fuss, no outcry."
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275798 > Celestia's stunned expression gradually morphed into a delighted smile. "That is actually an excellent idea! Oh! I will write to Lake Frond and Rock Lichen. You do not think Aura would mind if I invited them as well?" "Why those two? I mean, I guess she won't, but why them in particular?"
> "You reminded me of them the other day when you came from that meeting on Earth. Miriam said she would like to see them, did she not?" > After Anonymous nodded she continued: "I realized I have not seen them in quite a while. Perhaps Miriam Adams will be in Canterlot at the same time and we can have a bit of a reunion." > It actually sounded kinda nice. There was just one nagging thought in Anon's mind. "So you don't want Aura's cake?"
> The Princess paled in shock, a spoonful of soup coming to a halt before her open mouth. "I almost forgot!" she whined. The spoon clattered down into the bowl and Celestia rushed to the door. "I will send somepony to invite them to dinner. Be right back!" > Celestia forgetting about cake was a very rare thing indeed and Anon did his best to commit her face when she realized it to memory. > He really hoped she would never change, Anon thought to himself. The chances were good, considering her extended lifespan. > His thoughts went out to his own friends and ex-colleagues. Perhaps he could follow Celestia's example and invite them for a visit one of these days? > Wendy Locker would love it especially. Hopefully she was still the receptionist at his old firm, or if not, someone at the company knew how to get hold of her. > It wasn't long before the Princess was back, but this time she didn't go to her seat. Instead Celestia came to stand behind Anon and brushed her muzzle against his ear. > "I have said how much I appreciate you, did I not?" AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275802 "Yeah, just about every day. Same, by the way."
> Maybe it was his fancy, but Anon imagined he could feel her smiling there, just out of sight. It was like a ray of warm sunshine on his face. He reached blindly with his hand and gave her nose a careful pat. > "Is the cheese any good? I was not paying too much attention..." "It's delicious. Here, try it."
> He grabbed the fork and speared a particularly nice chunk of Brie, or whatever ponies called it here. He lifted it up to the side of his head and felt a gentle tug on the fork as Celestia took it. > "Good," she commented, "but I am in the mood for something even more delicious." > Anon turned to look at what she meant and met her lips. Almost without his volition his hand went around her muzzle to hold her in place. It wasn't a particularly passionate kiss, but it was warm and full of promises. "We should do something like this more often. I like it when you cook. Maybe you can even teach me a thing or two."
> Her laughter was music to his ears. "We should and I will." "It's going to turn out alright, isn't it? With the trial and Luna and all that?" Anon prompted, his mind going back to those problems despite his best efforts to keep it in the present.
> "Yes." > There was quiet certainty in her voice and Anon allowed himself to believe her. > Everything would turn out for the best. After all, it was how Equestria worked. > ~~~ END AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36275804 Whew. I know there's stuff still kinda open, but I'm hoping it's a conclusion of sorts. I'm seriously considering doing the next part about Luna's experience on Earth, maybe in a more comedic tone. The reunion of old friends and the trial could be a nice epilogue sometime.
For now, I think this is the story I wanted to tell. Remember that it was mainly from Anon's POV, so there was a lot happening "in the background". It might not work well, but I'm standing by it.

> Anonymous was a more or less average dude, by his own description. Life was perhaps a tiny bit boring, but he was doing okay, working a call center job and drowning memories of irate customers in alcohol every weekend. > There wasn't a whole lot of money, but the economy being what it was, he couldn't complain. The paychecks were never late and his boss wasn't too much of an asshole. > Life was comfortable and didn't require a whole lot of effort, which suited Anon just fine. He'd probably have continued in the same way forever, if something unbelievable hadn't happened. > Technically it hadn't happened to him, but rather to his neighbor, a certain Mr. John Mason, a big, important businessman who liked to work. As far as Anon could tell, Mr. Mason had absolutely no hobbies, a job which took him twelve hours a day and most weekends, and a butt-load of money. > Oh, and suddenly Mr. Mason had a pony. > Anon's bedroom overlooked the neighboring house, a blocky, post-modern eyesore which didn't quite fit with the rest of the buildings on the block. > He could see some of the inside, often grimacing at what was clearly nonfunctional and uncomfortable furniture, meant only to impress. It wasn't the kind of place someone lived in, it was just a house they showed off. > Which was just as well, because Mr. Mason spent most of his days at work. It explained his wealth and the fancy car out front, and perhaps it also explained the lack of any family or social life whatsoever. > Except... Anon wouldn't have believed it if he hadn't seen it with his own eyes. Mr. Mason got one of those pastel wonderhorses which had made news some weeks ago. No one knew exactly where they were coming from, but apparently there was a black market.
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287893 > More importantly, the law hadn't yet caught up, so people could own them. > Talking. Friggin'. Horses. Speaking English, no less! > The first few times Anon had seen that news he thought it was a hoax or something. It had to be, right?! Even on supposedly professional cameras the creatures looked like cheap special effects. Surely nothing biological could be so vividly colorful? > Anyway, the hubbub died down, but the pictures and videos multiplied, so after a fashion Anon had been forced to accept the truth of the matter. > There were talking technicolor ponies, no one knew where they came from, or how, and some people owned them. It was utterly preposterous, of course. This great country had gotten rid of slavery and now it was coming right back. > True, most of the news articles called it 'pet ownership', but in Anon's opinion, if it could talk, it was a slave. > For some reason, he wanted to touch one. Only with its consent, of course, but he really wanted to. > Well, Mr. Mason had one now. A yellow one with wings and pink hair. When he first saw it, being unloaded from a nondescript white van, Anon couldn't help thinking that the hair must've been dyed. No way that was a natural color. > He wondered if Mr. Mason would have to reapply the dye occasionally, which would mean giving the thing a bath or something. Weird, why did that make him jealous? > Anyway, when the news spread there were onlookers. Most of the neighborhood came to stand in front of Mr. Mason's house at one point or another. Children squealed and pointed and even adults chattered excitedly among themselves whenever the pony dared glance out the window. > It was bloody annoying is what it was. All that racket under Anon's room when he was trying to sleep. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287898 > One day it suddenly stopped. The lack of noise when he woke up made Anon go out to the balcony, which was overlooking the cul-de-sac, to make sure. The street was empty. > Anon lit a cigarette, happy that he had his peace back, but still intrigued about the pony. He leaned over the railing and tried to see, but the creature was nowhere in sight. > "Mornin'," came the greeting from the porch below him. Anon hadn't even noticed his landlord, Mr. Petrinov. "Oh, hi. People finally gave up?"
> The dark, hairy, blocky man shook his head and chuckled. "Nope. Mr. Mason threatened them with lawsuits if they kept... what did he call it?" > It took Mr. Petrinov a moment to remember the English word. "Ah, 'loitering'. That's what he said. Shut them right up!" > Anon shared the next chuckle before taking a drag on his cigarette. Mr. Petrinov sipped from his glass, which looked like it was full of scotch, or maybe whiskey. > The man was quite a drinker, although after Anon had heard his story it kinda made sense. "Anyway, how are you doing, Mr. Petrinov?"
> The man waved a dismissive hand. "I told you this before, Anon. Just 'Anton' to you, okay? You are living in my house long enough, we are almost like family, no?" > His accent was almost completely gone, but Mr. Petrinov still sometimes betrayed his Eastern European origin. Well, the name didn't help there, either. > From what Anon had been able to gather, Anton had moved from wherever it was he used to live to America, 'the land of freedom and opportunity' as the foreigner usually called it. > He came with his wife and spent a number of years in a shit hole apartment downtown, both of them working until they could afford the house. The very house Anon was renting now. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287901 > Unfortunately the missus died. Anton didn't like to talk about it a whole lot, but Anon's working theory was cancer. His dream of having exactly two children thus ended. > Strange how Anton sounded so certain. Two kids, not one, and certainly not three. Two, to replace him and the missus, thereby neither adding to overpopulation, nor letting the number of humans fall. > Weird reasoning, but to Anon it sounded as good as any he'd heard. > He didn't remarry, nor did he return back to his home country, which left Anton with a big house, debts to pay, and alone. > He tore down the stairs between the ground and the first floor, adapted the upstairs into a livable apartment, built a staircase on the outside and put an ad in the local paper. > It hadn't even been that much work. There were two bedrooms, originally planned for the kids Mr. Petrinov now might never have, a bathroom, to which he simply added a washing and drying machine, and a living room, where it had been rather trivial to install a kitchen in one corner. > Anon had been the person to bite and, the place and its owner being to his liking, had taken it. It was his first job and the first time living away from his parents. "At least it's going to be quiet again. I work nights sometimes, I like to be able to sleep in."
> The landlord nodded, even though he kept his gaze on his drink. "Same for me, Anon." > Mr. Petrinov worked as a bartender nearby, which also meant some late nights. > After Mr. Mason's threat at the meeting, there were still children sometimes pressed against Mr. Mason's fence, but at least the adults refrained from these gatherings. > In time, even that interest faded and things went back to normal. Except for Anon. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287903 > His bedroom window and his living room looked directly into Mr. Mason's house. Anon couldn't help it; whenever he stood up, his eyes strayed to his neighbor's house, seeking out the yellow pony. > Every time he saw it, he quickly ducked out of sight, as if he'd been doing something weird or wrong. Why did if feel like peeking in on a girl showering? > At least Anon guessed that was how it felt. He'd never done the thing, so he had no basis for comparison. > The pony was a maid. Maybe that was the most incredulous thing of the whole situation. An actual alien, shaped like a colorful miniature horse, and Mr. Mason used it as a maid. > Anon hoped like hell that was the only way Mr. Mason used it. Something in the creature's demeanor just screamed 'female' at Anon and of course he drew conclusions. Unwelcome conclusions, even though it technically wasn't any of his business. > The matter nagged at him to the point where his attention at the call center had started to slip and his boss, one Mr. Harris, had to invite him into his office and explain to him the requirement to focus. > It took some doing, but Anon made sure to improve the quality of his work. Losing the job was the last thing he wanted. Unfortunately, that just meant twice the fretting and worry when he was home. His gaming and movie watching suffered and he spent more and more time at the window, just waiting to catch a glimpse of the horse. > She - Anon had decided it was a girl after all - didn't *look* maltreated. Just resigned, perhaps a touch sorrowful, and infinitely bored. She swept, vacuumed, washed dishes, mopped, brushed and a million other things which ensured the house was kept livable. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287906 > Before the pony Mr. Mason had had a professional maid over twice a week, but it looked like he didn't need one anymore. Annoyingly, that was another reason for Anon's jealousy. House work was a pain in the ass. > Sometimes, when Anon worked nights at the call center and spent the day at home, he could watch what the pony did when Mr. Mason was out of the house. Sure, most of the time she got on with her work of tidying up, but every now and then Anon saw her lying on the couch, reading a book or watching TV. > The angle didn't let him see what she was watching, though. Once or twice he thought he saw her smile, or laugh. That put some of Anon's darker worries to rest, at least for a while. > His obsession was slowly consuming him. Anon knew that, yet he couldn't stop. He could have moved away, or at least switched bedrooms to the other side of the house. Maybe then he'd be less tempted to watch Mr. Mason's house so intently. > Except he didn't want to. Thinking about that stupid horse became his whole world. Reading about them filled the time while he waited for the creature to make an appearance. > The strange fascination was exacerbated by sudden feelings of isolation. > Perhaps he led a lonely life, but dealing with irate customers nearly every day had left Anon soured to human company. He preferred to spend his 'freedom hours' either playing games, watching movies or drinking, the latter only if it was the weekend. > The few friends he had mostly liked the same things, so Anon saw them more in the multi player games than in real life. Every now and then one or the other would celebrate their birthday and they'd meet in person. > He didn't feel a particular need for socialization and the occasional chat with Mr. Petrinov was enough to fulfill that urge. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287908 > At least it had been, until this damned horse. > Eventually Anon mustered up the courage to walk around in Anton's backyard, trying to get a closer look at the pony and perhaps get her to notice him. > Maybe if he could speak with her it would be better. The articles said they were highly intelligent. Maybe she'd say something to finally put this craze behind him and he could get on with his life. > Unfortunately, the pony never went outside in that first month. Or, if she did, Anon never saw it. He still had to work eight hours every day and commute for another hour and a half. > He tried not to think about the pony frolicking in Mr. Mason's backyard while he was stuck in the call center. It just made him fret, which caused him to fumble the calls. > On one particular Saturday, Anon was on his third beer when he heard a sound at the same time familiar and unusual. Lawnmower. > It was clearly coming from Mr. Mason's yard. > That much wasn't unusual because the man employed a gardener to come and keep his lawn and flowerbeds in order, but said gardener hadn't been over since the pony had come and started doing everything else around the house. > It stood to reason she might also have to deal with the yard. Anon jumped to his feet and rushed to the living room window to see. > Yes! > He ran to his fridge where he had a small bottle of strawberry-flavored fizzy juice stashed for just such an occasion. He sometimes saw the pony drink one of those so he got it as an ice-breaker. > Then Anon hurried out his door and down his stairs, before coming to a stop in the backyard. He had no idea what to do next. > Yes the pony was out, pushing a lawnmower around, but the thing was loud. No way he could talk with her until she was done. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287911 > It wasn't a very comfortable situation, but some curiosity could be excused, right? Besides, the day was uncomfortably warm, so the icy-cold drink in his hand might even be welcome. > Maybe he should go back inside, wait until the job was nearly done? Except he ran the risk of missing it, which Anon was unwilling to take. > Too late he remembered that he hadn't brought a drink for himself, which made rushing out with a beverage for the pony who wasn't even his really weird. Hopefully she wouldn't think him a creep, even though she would be justified to it in Anon's case. > The noise changed and Anon saw the pony awkwardly turning the mower. That brought her face to face with him and she cast him a curious look. > It sent his heartbeat into the two hundreds, at least, and Anon's grip on the bottle tightened. > He gave a little wave, which the pony didn't return. Perhaps that was just because she couldn't, with both her forelegs being employed in guiding the mower. Anon opted to understand it that way. > The approach gave him a chance to observe the pony from up close, which he gladly took. > She was yellow, but it was a bit pale in the sunlight. It nicely complemented her pink hair and tail. There was also a pink and blue tattoo on her butt. > Anon had seen that splotch before, but from this distance he could make out stylized butterflies. Strange. Was it her own idea, or something some human had come up with to make her look more cute for potential buyers? > Realizing he was staring right at her butt, Anon dragged his eyes away. At first he couldn't believe such a thing as winged horses existed. Surely no mammal had feathers, right? Those were a reptile or bird thing, if he remembered his natural history. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287916 > Nevertheless, there they were. Wings with feathers the exact same shade of yellow as her coat. As she struggled with the heavy lawnmower, walking on her hind legs, they were partially outstretched, jerking this way and that to help her keep her balance. > Above all, it was incredibly cute. > Anon wondered if the horse could really, actually fly. The wings did look functional. > Further up was her hair, quite long. It didn't look like a horse's at all. It was more like human hair, Anon thought. It reached down to her... shoulders? > He couldn't see any discolored ends or streaks, so it really was pink, or Mr. Mason was doing a superb job keeping it dyed. > The hair swung out of the way and Anon saw a collar. Well, he'd seen it on her before, but from up close he could see a bulge at the back of her neck. > Some articles mentioned a GPS collar and there were even rumors of electric shocks. It'd explain how she didn't just run away now that she was outside, especially if she really could fly. > Anon suddenly realized that the pony had finished the row and was looking at him with undisguised curiosity. When she caught his gaze she quickly looked down, pretending to be focused on her work. > That moment had been there, though. She was curious, if a little scared of him, but she also had a job to do. > The last thing Anon wanted was to have the pony scared of him. He wanted to be good with animals, but his efforts usually yielded complete disinterest at best, or fear at worst. > Maybe, since this one could talk, he could make a better impression than on some crows he'd tried to befriend outside of the office. > It was something of a surprise when she stopped at the end of the row and reached a hoof to a small lever on the handle. The mower sputtered to silence. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287917 > Apparently Mr. Mason, or someone, had taught her how to work the thing. Anon also noticed that the grip of the mower was much thicker than usual and looked to be made out of some kind of soft foam. > It was low enough for her to drive either by resting her forelegs on the bar and pushing, or by gripping it with her teeth. > He lifted up the strawberry drink as a kind of a shield and stepped closer. He thought about smiling, but Anon knew whatever expression he summoned up would probably end up grotesque, rather than reassuring. He waved at the pony and leaned his elbows on the fence, as if idly lounging there for no real reason. > "Um, h-hello?" she ventured, carefully keeping the mower between them. "Hi! Uh... I'm Anon! I got you a strawberry drink! Y'know, since it's hot."
> The pony didn't make a move, though her eyes took in the bottle of what Anon had assumed was her favorite drink. She was probably weirded out and his hand with the drink lowered. > Anon was about to excuse himself and go, but she spoke up. "T-Thanks," she mumbled, pointedly not looking at the bottle anymore, "but I'm not, um, thirsty right now." "That's okay," Anon said as nonchalantly as he could manage, "uh, want me to leave it for later? It's cold!"
> "I'll... um, I have to finish mowing the lawn..." she said, dodging his question. > At that moment Anon became aware of Mr. Mason walking over and his blood ran cold. The man had seen him talking to his pony and was undoubtedly angry. There had been that homeowner meeting, after all. > A part of Anon had been hoping the man was away, but it looked like this was one of those rare Saturdays when Mr. Mason wasn't working. > He'd also been keeping an eye on his new pet, it seemed. Either that, or he'd heard the mower stop. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287923 > Still, Anon didn't move. He kept his elbows on the fence and steeled himself for being yelled at. > "Hi. Is there a problem?" Mr. Mason asked. "You don't mind the noise, do you?" "No, not at all, sir. I was just-"
> Anon hesitated, but luckily the other man jumped in: "Anonymous, right? You're renting the upstairs apartment from Petrinov?" "That's right."
> Mr. Mason didn't seem to be hostile, so Anon decided to try his luck. Good thing those years in a call center had taught him how to control his voice. He was able to make it completely steady and casual. "I was just curious when I saw your, um... pony, mowing. I didn't know they could do that."
> This finally made Mr. Mason look away from him and down at the creature. "Yeah, quite versatile. Cleaning, washing, laundry, they can do anything. Gardening, too." > Anon nodded, as if actually considering getting one for himself, even though both he and Mr. Mason knew it was way out of his price range. "So, do they have names?"
> The man reached down and patted the pony's hair. Anon had been watching and saw her flinch a little, but she stood her ground and waited, motionless, until it was over. > "Sure thing," Mr. Mason answered. "This one is called Flutter Shy. Suits her, too. Thing goes to hide in the closet if I watch an action movie. A real scaredy-cat." > The man laughed at that, not noticing how the pony shrunk in on herself a little. Anon grinned, but he didn't feel like joining in. He lifted up the bottle and said the excuse he'd come up with just in case. "Anyway, it's hot and I had one of these rolling around the fridge. Bought it by accident; I don't like it myself."
> Before the neighbor could reply, Anon added hastily: "Thought your pony might like it."
AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287925 > "Mighty neighborly of you, Anonymous," Mr. Mason said, perhaps warming up just a touch. He nudged Flutter Shy with his shoe. "What do we say?" > The pony looked at Anon, then at the bottle, before lowering her gaze to the ground and murmuring: "Thank you, Mr. Anonymous." > She even walked around the mower and took the bottle with both hooves. She balanced it skillfully while she sat down, then dropped it in front of herself. > Anon was about to ask what she was doing, but Flutter Shy gripped the bottle with her hind legs and used her forehooves to untwist the cap. Quite clever, actually. > She only took a quick sip, then put the cap back. "Um, I'll- I'll have the rest when I'm d-done with the yard, Mr. Mason," she intoned, casting a slightly guilty look at Anon. > Once again the man patted her hair. "As you wish, just don't leave it out on the grass, okay?" > She nodded and began to inspect the mower. She didn't turn it back on, allowing her owner and Anon to talk without shouting. > Acting purely on some half-remembered movie scene, Anon stuck his hand out. "Well, nice meeting you, Mr. Mason. I didn't mean to pry, just- um, curious. They were all over the news."
> The man took his hand and shook it in a firm grasp. "Likewise. What do you do for a living, Anonymous?" "Call center for Verizon."
> "Good good. Well, Flutter needs to get back to work and I have some papers to go over. See you around." "Yeah. Sure. Um, thanks."
> Anon turned and walked away, even though he was mightily curious to see how she would turn on the mower. The only way he could think of was for her to grab the starter handle in her teeth and yank it with her head. AspiringWritefag !!Ojw0rGjSZOI
>>36287931 > The noise of the little engine turning over was a good excuse for Anon to look back and see that he was right. The handle looked like it was made from the same foam as the grip, so as not to hurt the pony's teeth. > On her second try the mower started and Anon saw how Flutter Shy's ears pinned back from the noise. She reared up, put her forelegs on the bar again and turned the mower around to keep going. > Anon made sure he walked slowly and nonchalantly, but inside his heart was hammering. Only some of that had been out of fear what Mr. Mason would say when he saw him chatting up his horse. Apparently he didn't mind at all, which was a huge relief. He could come speak with Flutter Shy whenever he saw her out in the yard! > Most of it was from knowing the pony's name and having heard her voice. It was so timid, and quiet and precious! > Hopefully she really would tend to the flowerbeds and he could find more moments to speak with her, perhaps without the mower. More importantly, without Mr. Mason. > For the moment, however, Anon had a beer to finish and a window to sit at, watching Flutter Shy mowing Mr. Mason's lawn and then drinking the treat he'd given her. >>36287938 Here we go again! For some reason I really like this little green. Some of you might have read a bit of it because I was impatient and put it online in a large chunk, so please bear with me while the rest of the thread enjoys it.
I'll be doing some light editing while I catch up.
At the moment, I have about ~85k words already written and the way it seems, the green should end up somewhere around 120-140k.
The old paste is still up, but unlisted. I'll be updating this paste with how much has been posted in thread:

How long was Anon away for? It could not be more than 3-4 hours tops.
And I find it stupid that Opulence did not try to disappear earlier. She probably knew they busted the mines, they caught Silvermane, a changeling, etc etc. Staying close to the fire huh?

This ending update was kinda felt rushed/crammed into the last update. Just so much was happening in the background. I was totally not expecting this, it felt that it has been already wound down, but then here is another spike. The Silly Cellyboo turned into Celestia The Sex Machine. And at the later parts you almost never used the " * horse" phrases.

Master race received about 5 patches already to make it not softlock in quests, but it still wants at least Pascal gpu to give a proper fps. Don't even try RTX on something below the unbuyable 3080. The main quest is almost identicall to
Tales from Borderlands , your background doesn't really matter in dialogues because you always act like Street Kid, prepare to vacuum cloned sidequests all over the map, the plot is quite linear and nothing you do matters to the universe and you have at least one good romance option depending on how far you lean left. Zero replayability, I'd rather savescum. Despite all that, quite a worthy game and I enjoyed it. It doesn't have a DRM so you know what to do, I'd wait until February patch or a summer sale if you want an icon in Steam.
