It is STRONGLY recommended that all players install some preset of mastercomfig since TF2's default netcode settings have not been changed since 2007.

As of a TF2 update on 9/16, viewing other players' sprays is now disabled by default. You can re-enable sprays under Advanced Options or by typing "cl_spraydisable 0" in the console.

No one is judged for being new to the game, and skill level across the playerbase varies.
