Yesterday (or 2 days ago) marks an entire decade since a certain pony on wheels started trending on Derpibooru. While a WIP was uploaded a week earlier (https://derpibooru.org/338010), it was the finished animation of Wheely Bopper happily honking away that jump-started her brief moment of fame (https://derpibooru.org/344829). Whether it was through sheer cuteness or yet another bizzare pony species, Wheely Bopper was well loved and many artists would draw her over the next 2 months (most notably ∀ https://asai-gomen.tumblr.com/tagged/Wheely%20Bopper). While she never maintained the level of popularity some were expecting, she still makes occasional appearances over the years.
Wheely Bopper's original artist remains a mystery to this day. It's worth noting that the original uploader of the WIP was going to create a "wheelybopper" tumblr (https://derpibooru.org/images/338010#comment_1507765). A tumblr with this blog name does exist (https://wheelybopper.tumblr.com/) and was created by "rainbowvan45" who might've been Russian too (https://wheelybopper.tumblr.com/post/53548547295).
