The slider sucks because it's harder to tell what's meant to fit there and what's white noise that happens to fit in. It can be done, yeah, but its too damn slow. Maybe keep it for posting OPs to avoid people flooding the catalog, but it should be removed for normal posts.
There should also be better standardization to the character numbers. That's part of why the slider sucks.
