But the ones that are, double so. They do it so they can squeeze their mates in, then start fetishising all over the fucking place. First it makes them feel like they can fit in with normal people who don't live their fetish out in public uninvited, not just be tolerated.
But then when that stops being fun, because it's an addiction and they have to keep pushing, they just take over the place, which makes them feel powerful. Either way it's not. It's just taking advantage of a system where those willing to give their own time and effort, to do a boring shitty job, for nothing, are rewarded with power over what normal people can do and say.
Think of that, what sort of people is it going to attract? And the pettier the power, the pettier the person. Volunteer modding is a TERRIBLE idea. It's why Wikipedia is... what Wikipedia is. The couple of percent that's written by actual qualified academics is apparently, when compared, approximately no worse than anywhere else. But the 98% that's people just autistically transcribing pop-culture, typing in everything that happens in a comic, is positively Wikipedian in what a shitheap it is.
