Hiro, in my opinion you need to focus on lowering costs rather than increasing the amount of money coming in, at least in the short term. The current ads are going to make a lot of people turn their ad blockers on and it's likely a lot of them will keep them on from now on. In essence, while you've possibly made a quick buck you've removed a lot of sources of revenue from people who would have continued giving ads views over a longer period of time.
I personally think dropping the archives, lowering filesize limits on certain boards, getting rid of the porn boards, supporting new, more efficient filetypes like .webp, and possibly even making some boards into text boards would save a good deal of bandwidth but the fact of the matter is only you and maybe a few other people know where all the bandwidth is actually coming from and so while we can keep throwing ideas out unless you tell us why they don't work nothing will change.
