I'm curious, is anyone else not the biggest fan of toys, props, and various addons implemented in their roleplays or lasting encounters with others? Through my time in SL, I've met all sorts of people with varying fetishes, and one for example that's super prominent in my experience is bondage in general. I was with someone for a while that was super into it, so much so that he had one of those "varying degrees of control" addons that let you slowly strip away power from the avatar in question. The problem is, it used a bunch of console type commands to function properly. It wasn't particularly complex, but since I wasn't all that interested in that aspect, any time I engaged with this person, it ended up with me having to relearn the system for a portion of our time together.
I'm probably a bit vanilla, but when I do my ERPing, I like to fully immerse myself, pick partners that are skilled writers, get lost in the heat of the moment and the fantasy of what's going on, and nothing takes me out of a roleplay faster than typing in console commands between lurid posting. I also feel like it's honestly just a second layer to what you can already create in a roleplay anyway, why do you need a fancy piece of equipment to bind someone's arms when you can roleplay it out, why use an elaborate system of control illusion, when you can just RP it out and keep it in context of the scene?
I realize that last bit is a slippery slope, you could ask why even have avatars at that point, but I dunno, maybe I'm crazy. I like using poses to play off of in the text I write, and I love avatars that give that baseline visual attraction between two people, but all the extra stuff just seems like bloat to me.
