Like I'm not a big fan of piss, but at least fresh piss isn't literally unsanitary and infectious (provided the pony doesn't carry a UTI or something). It doesn't immediately stink up the entire room (unless it's left to become stale, and even then), it doesn't need careful manual cleanup, and even if leaks or you get some on you it's easy to wash away.
I think diapers are at their cutest when they're clean and poofy rather than all soggy, but if you want desperation, or the humiliation angle, or generally seeing diapers "used" as a way to show that it's for serious wear rather than just a fashion accessory, piss seems to do all that just fine.
I just don't really see how you can "hate shit" and at the same time enjoy images of characters shitting themselves.
