I remember seeing the pixel art box for this in a rental store as a kid and thinking it looked really cool. I was really disappointed when I actually played it. Definitely one of the weaker black box entries.
I do sort of love how caveman and un-Nintendo it is. Just two guys brawling like drunks on a street.

If you manage to win 140 rounds you get a "Champion" message in the lower right of the screen. Why you would want to play this game for 140 rounds however is beyond me. Also apparently running out of stamina doesn't actually do anything.

Beat em ups had their ascendancy interrupted abruptly by 3d advocates and their financial backers with ulterior motives in other non-vidya industries.

It’s only recently, with indie devs, picked back up where it left off in the mid/late 90’s.

The peak has not occurred yet. It’s in the future.
