Why wouldn't it? The only think you wnould need to worry about is a situation where, like, the neutral position has a button held down like Guitar Hero - but if you're just playing the N64 version on your N64 emulator using the N64 DDG controller and you already have your inputs properly configured for a regular N64 controller it should just plug and play.

I guess unless the analog sensitivity is WAY off but I thibk you can adjust that with software.

Weird, I just bought one of those and one for SNES from the same company. Now, as you can see, I haven't tried out the N64 one yet. I do have one gripe about it before I've even unboxed it. Only 2 ports!

As for the SNES one, I have tried out a few things. Super Scope being one of them. Works fine.

Now, one warning. One the back of the case, it does say "Please Note: Please use original controllers along with this adapter. Third party controllers may not work properly with this adapter."

So far, even my knock off SNES controllers have worked on the SNES adapter. If you already have the Densha de Go controller, I'd say it would be worth giving that adapter a shot. If not, hey. You can still play other N64 games just fine with a regular controller.

Well, the problem is I want to use the controller for the PC versions of Densha de Go games.
The PC controller costs like $260 on the used market and it's exactly the same thing with a USB port.
The gameport version would cost me about $100 to get my hands on and then I'd have to pay another $15 for a (not loop-through) gameport to USB adapter. Both register as regular joystick/controller. No special drivers required. So I'd rather use the controller I already own.

I guess the most important question is as what exactly the adapter registers the controllers with Windows. Regular gamepads?

Looks like. Can you even map the PC Densha de Go controls to a regular gamepad?

Device manager adds:

USB Input Device
HID-compliant game controller
HID-compliant game controller

This is with the SNES adapter and 2 controllers plugged in.

The adapter does convert some input of the Densha de Go controller, but the behavior is rather weird.
The left handle is interpreted as a bunch of button press combinations by the default driver, the right handle is interpreted as more or less random positions of the Z axis.
And once you hit START, the behavior completely changes until you reconnect the controller.
I think I'll write some sort of "driver" that converts raw USB data (not data interpreted by the driver) into key presses. That seems like the easiest solution, and that would achieve all I need.
When I'm done, I'll probably post it on /vg/. Unfortunately I have absolute no time on my hands for that until some time in April.
