After living for years in a desert shithole, grass is really hard to care for. Granted, it wasn't as shitty as Phoenix or Las Vegas where you just don't plants. It was still bad. The afternoon winds (usually 20mph gusts at 104 ambient) would suck water out of just about everything. Grass would quite literally dry out in a day.
Our pines, Mulberry, Sycamore and Elms were just fine. Our Peach Trees gave us good peaches every year. But Grass was a lost fucking cause. Swapped to rocks and desert plants pretty quick.
Aside from the landscaped portions, we left everything else on the property as close to as it was when we got it. But, being once cleared land, we had huge problems with Tumbleweeds. The native grasses and bushes had a hard time coming back.
