You are Christopher Phillips, previously just another teenage nerd living in a small English town, and a lot of things have changed in your life since you died.
Over the past three and a half weeks you’ve come back from the dead, with room-temperature skin, dark hungers, and unusual powers; discovered the supernatural world lurking under the surface of everyday life; faced off against a supernaturally manipulative cult leader, a demonically-backed drug dealer, an enormous werewolf, an ancient Fae spirit, an undead spirit of ice, and your own darkest hungers; made new friends, new enemies, major mistakes, and magical pacts; and gained yourself a girlfriend, possibly another girlfriend, a place in a Fae Court, a minion (sort of), and surprising amounts of trouble.
It’s Tuesday afternoon, and you don’t particularly have anything planned for this evening. Your two closest friends are off on their date, the gang of monster-hunters you’ve been joining and/or infiltrating aren’t expecting you to patrol with them tonight, and no-one’s tried to kill you lately.
The only thing that’s really been worrying you lately, in fact, is the behaviour of Miss White, your substitute History teacher, Jill’s aunt, and a very... interesting lady, in many respects. She’s extremely young for a teacher, stunningly beautiful, and while officially she’s been inviting you to her house to help her out as a teaching assistant, she’s made it plain that she has other things on her mind.
Miss White – Miranda - just spotted you leaving school, and invited you to come to her house again tonight, to “pick up where we left off.” You’re fairly sure Avril wouldn’t mind (one of the fringe benefits of dating a princess of the Court of Spring), but you’re still a little worried about how Jill might react if she found out what the two of you have been doing... of course, a little voice in the back of your head reminds you, what Jill doesn’t know won’t hurt her.
