Why the fuck are CoC and TiTs so much better than the vast majority of RPGs?

Even actually disregarding their themes, the gameplay they have is so much more freeform and focused on actual roleplaying instead of being shoved through some story with "meaningful choices" that just force you to choose A or B, and without all the bullshit that those games typically have. It's bizarre that you basically have to play an erotic furry browser game in order to get something that actually resembles proper role-playing where things are soft gated through exploration and combat.
