Am I Too Young For The Animation Industry?

No.142137211 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
Ever since I was born, I've always had a remarkably strong interest in cartoons. Whether it's 2D, CG, Stop-Motion, or everything in-between, I can't help but appreciate animation for its artistry alone. As a result, this made me try my absolute hardest to be just as good as those who have inspired me.

I'll have to admit, trying to find the "right way" to animate has been like trying to find a /co/ thread where some schizzo isn't completely shitting up the place. I've come across quite a few people who teach animation in a rather stubborn way. However, I've also come across some slightly lesser known names that have taught me more about animation than every tutorial on YouTube combined. (Ron Doucet, Bob Jaques, and Kelly Armstrong are a few names off the top of my head.)

The reason I made this thread is because I'm not sure if anyone will want to hire me based on my overall lack of experience. My way of studying is extremely orthodox, since I'm often tracing over certain details to see how character acting works. I have an extremely simplistic understanding of how the art-form works, yet I'm able to get a decent grasp by studying the works of my favorite Carbunkle Cartoons/Mercury Filmworks animators.

At the same time, part of me thinks I'm a hack and that all my stuff will remain in web purgatory. Perhaps I'm selling myself too short, but I wouldn't count on it
