Warner Bros. Discovery in talks to merge with Paramount Global

No.141278400 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
>Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav met with Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish on Tuesday in New York City to discuss a possible merger, Axios has learned from multiple sources.
>Zaslav also has spoken to Shari Redstone, who owns Paramount's parent company, about a deal.
>The duo discussed ways their companies could compliment one another. For example, each company's main streaming service — Paramount+ and Max — could merge to better rival Netflix and Disney+.
>It's unclear whether WBD would buy Paramount Global or its parent company, National Amusements Inc. (NAI), but a source familiar with the situation says that both options are on the table.
>WBD is said to have hired bankers to explore the deal.

Official Win-O'-Thread

No.141431478 View ViewReplyLast 50OriginalReport
>What is this thread?
Every Wins'day at Win-O'-Clock we gather here and post links to the latest scans and rips of comic books.
Most links we uploaded ourselves, others we are sharing from elsewhere.
Some comics we've even purchased ourselves (but most we didn't).
If you'd like to help out, just ask and we would be delighted to tell you how.
Otherwise, be patient, be polite, and understand the simple concept behind these words: Not posted means not available yet.

>Where can I find old Win-O'-Threads?
http://desuarchive.org/co/search/subject/Official%20Win-O'-Thread/
http://boards.fireden.net/co/search/subject/Official%20Win-O'-Thread/
(Note: This finds the OP for old threads. If you want to search for comics in the archive, clear the subject field!)

>Where can I find downloads for other comics?
Warez forums/blogs, DDL-indexing search engines (like FilesLoop), torrent trackers (like 1337x) and other P2P networks (like DC++).
If a link has been posted on 4chan, you can search for it in the Desu archive (add "http*" to searches to return only posts with links).
If all else fails, just >buy it.

>Where can I buy comics?
http://www.amazon.com/
On the various publishers' webstores, and at your local comics shop.

>Where can I find an LCS?
http://www.comicshoplocator.com/

>Where can I find out when new comics are released?

Untick the checkbox under the download button.

>How can I find this thread every week?
If you are using the inline extension go to http://4chan.org/co/official or use the option under "Filters & Post Hiding".
If you have 4chanX go to Settings > Filter > Subject and add the following line:

Shut the fuck up. If you engage in genre fiction with this mindset, you are looking at it from an inherently dishonest and surface level perspective. If you are a writer, you MUST take your setting and characters completely seriously, otherwise your audience has no reason to invest in anything about your work. If you don't take it seriously, then why should the audience?

Archie Sonic

No.135289710 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
What a train wreck! I recently started reading the Archie Sonic series of comics from the first issue (of hundreds).
Thing is, I had a single issue growing up which was #42; and even 29 years after publication I think that individual issue is a well-drawn, interesting glimse into a whole Sonic world that I was new to.

I was enchanted by:
>Slueth Dog and Fly-fly Freddie who were ex-freedom fighters with a referenced past.
>Uncle Chuck, a friendly robot hedgehog with a backstory I was interested in.
>Sonic references a grotto of power rings that had drained dry.
>Tails references three past issues where characters went on a spirit journey after a milestone, such as Sonic collecting his billionth power ring.
>King Acorn is covered in an Emerald Curse.
>Mysterious characters are introduced, including medieval characters, tribal gods and a legacy of ancient Echidnas.
Everything was basically references to past events, foreshadowing of things to come; and call-outs to pick up side stories to learn more.

It sat with me for years, fueled by media of the years that showed off all the cover art of all the issues (without context).
But, turns out it's all garbage. I happened to pick one of the 5% of salvagable issues in the series that was competently put together; and it is retroactively turned into garbage because everything written is just some canon-breaking bullshit that can't work in a long-form story. Stuff like the walrus character just curing robotisism; characters turning evil or into Robots and back again like there are no consequences; mutliple dimensions opening and collasping again as writers fight to take control of the story.

Can someone tell me if I'm biased about #42 and back me up if that WAS just one of the good ones? #42 is NOT pictured, I randomly jumped ahead to see what the art quality was like as it dropped off a cliff again after #42.
