People like to think of Japanese anime and western animation as separate markets who evolved separately, but they're not, the two have been mingling since the beginning of time
Japan adores Disney and actually took inspo from it, which in turn inspired the appearance of a lot of 80s anime, which then inspired the look of a lot of American TV cartoons in the 90s
This isn't a closed ecosystem, and it also applies outside of America
There's a shocking amount of similarity between old anime and old Russian cartoons which is actually hard to explain as those two had more limited interaction, but despite Slavic traditionalism those countries also have huge underground fanbases for anime which in turn create their cartoons, and anime too is largely inspired by Russian culture. The same could be said for most of the world that interacted with Japan and back
